Chapter 69

Zhang Shun ultimately chose to stay behind.

Hua Jiunan led Hu Wa and Chen Daji straight toward the door. Looking at their receding figures, there was a tragic air about them, reminiscent of the ancient poem: “The wind soughs and sighs, the Yi River is cold; the hero sets off, never to return.”

Halfway there, Chen Daji and Hu Wa each picked up half a brick and hid them in their jackets.

Chen Daji didn’t forget to remind him: “Hu Zi, once the fight starts, only use that to smash those bastards in the forehead. Don’t hit the back of the head, you hear me?”

“Hitting the back of the head can kill someone!”

Hu Wa was clearly very nervous, his teeth clenched as he said he understood.

When they reached the entrance, a crowd swarmed around them. A tall guy at the front, acting like a hoodlum, said, “Impressive. You actually dared to come out!”

“Our Zhao Boss wants to invite the three of you over there for a little chat!”

Chen Daji spat out the dry twig he was chewing on and cursed, “Damn it, let’s go then! Who’s afraid of who? I’ve been wanting to have a ‘chat’ with him too!”

The group walked a long distance, not stopping until they turned a corner. Zhao Fei was there with his arm around a girl, surrounded by a crowd, looking at Hua Jiunan and the other two with a mocking smile.

“You three little brats, you’ve finally fallen into my hands, haven’t you?”

Looking at the aggressive crowd, Chen Daji felt a bit apprehensive. He whispered to the already trembling Hu Wa, “Hu Zi, how did you do your intel? This isn’t twenty people-it’s at least fifty!”

While they were talking, Hua Jiunan walked up to Zhao Fei with an expression of cold indifference. He didn’t stop until they were practically face-to-face. This aura of his was so intimidating that the girl Zhao Fei was holding retreated several steps.

“Zhao Fei, let’s settle this one-on-one.”

Zhao Fei was stunned for a moment before he started cursing, throwing a punch toward Hua Jiunan’s nose. “Damn! You’re asking for it!”

As mentioned before, Zhao Fei was a burly fellow: over 1.8 meters tall and weighing 280 pounds. With his size advantage, he had never lost a one-on-one fight among his peers!

Although Hua Jiunan was also over 1.8 meters tall, he looked far too thin in front of Zhao Fei. In modern combat terms, they weren’t even in the same weight class.

However, the result of their duel was a total victory for Hua Jiunan!

China’s Ancient Martial Arts were killing techniques refined through the lives of countless ancestors. Hua Jiunan had practiced diligently for over a decade and had the added protection of the Dragon Skin. Using it against an ordinary person like Zhao Fei was like using a cannon to swat a mosquito.

It was effortless!

One could even say it was a complete waste of skill.

In just a single exchange, Zhao Fei was knocked down into the snow by Hua Jiunan and subjected to a brutal kicking. Of course, Hua Jiunan was careful with his strikes, avoiding any lethal spots.

Holding his head in his hands, Zhao Fei wailed while screaming to his followers, “Damn it, are you all idiots? Come help me!”

The others finally snapped out of it and rushed toward Hua Jiunan in a chaotic mess.

Hua Jiunan showed no fear, quietly pulling out a golden needle and tucking it between his knuckles. The first few people to reach him were struck by his fists, but at the same time, their acupoints were sealed by the golden needles. They collapsed to the ground, screaming in terror.

“Ow! I can’t move my hand! My bone is broken!”

“My leg… I can’t feel my leg!”

“Half my body is paralyzed! Help!”

Chen Daji and Hu Wa regained their senses and pulled out their bricks, standing in front of Hua Jiunan.

“If anyone else dares to come closer, I’ll bash their head in!”

In truth, they didn’t even need to help. The people Zhao Fei brought were already terrified by Hua Jiunan’s “ferocity.” At the end of the day, they were just teenagers. They had never seen a fight where people were “crippled” like this.

None of Zhao Fei’s followers dared to charge forward again, looking at Hua Jiunan with eyes full of horror. Some of the more cowardly ones had even begun to slowly back away.

The girl Zhao Fei had brought was so scared she had collapsed onto the ground. The area around her was wet; she had clearly wet herself in fear.

The scene fell silent, save for Zhao Fei’s constant cries of pain as Hua Jiunan continued to kick him. By now, Zhao Fei was thoroughly terrified and began to beg for mercy.

“Ow, damn it, stop hitting me! I give up!”

“You’re the Big Brother from now on!”

“I’ll stay out of your way, okay?”

“Hua Boss, please stop! If you keep hitting me, I’m going to die!”

Chen Daji looked at the people Hua Jiunan had “broken,” then at the blood-covered Zhao Fei. Fearing things would escalate too far, he quickly spoke up to persuade him: “Big Brother, that’s enough. Let them go.”

Hua Jiunan finally stopped. He slowly crouched down and tapped Zhao Fei’s head with his hand.

Zhao Fei hurriedly covered his head with both hands, his shoulders shaking as he scrambled backward. “Hua Boss, don’t hit me anymore! I really give up!”

Hua Jiunan gave a cold laugh. “If people ask how you got hurt, what will you say?”

Zhao Fei answered in terror, “I fell! We all fell on our own!”

Hua Jiunan asked again, “And how are we going to settle what you did to Zhang Shun?”

Zhao Fei replied instantly, “Money! I’ll pay for his medical bills!”

This guy was truly frightened by Hua Jiunan’s “ruthlessness.” After a moment’s hesitation, he continued, “Hua Boss, I don’t have that much cash on me. I’ll use this jade to settle the debt. Don’t worry, it’s not a fake. Someone gave it to my dad; they said it’s worth tens of thousands!”

As he spoke, Zhao Fei took a pendant from around his neck and placed it in front of Hua Jiunan.

Hua Jiunan and Chen Daji were both stunned: this piece of jade was similar to the one Chen Fu used to wear. It was a part of the Nine Orifices Jade!

Only the shape was different: this piece was a short, cylinder-like cong, sealed at one end.
