Chapter 95
Chapter 95
While Old Sixth Hui and Chen Daji were shooting the breeze, the thousands of Yellow Turban Ghost Soldiers were still kowtowing without pause.
A moment later, a faint sigh drifted down from the sky, barely there at all.
With that sigh, the thick fog around them dispersed.
As if granted amnesty, the Yellow Turban Ghost Soldiers knocked their heads heavily against the ground three more times. Then, dragging their weapons behind them, they fled in a sorry state toward the ancient tomb.
Chen Daji stared blankly. “Holy shit, why’d those bastards suddenly run off?”
“Did their house catch fire or something?”
Old Sixth Hui, however, looked rather regretful.
“Ah, Elder Pine truly is merciful!”
“Otherwise, if he’d only trapped those ghost soldiers for another half an incense stick, the Heavenly Light would’ve scattered their souls completely!”
Chen Daji’s curiosity flared up again.
But since he had already made peace with Old Sixth Hui, he simply asked, “Old Immortal, what’s Heavenly Light?”
Old Sixth Hui held up one finger and wagged it at Chen Daji with a grin.
Chen Daji froze. “Old Immortal, that’s going too far!”
“You’re charging me a whole cart of spicy strips just to answer one question?!”
Old Sixth Hui looked a little embarrassed by that.
“You misunderstood, Daji. I meant one crate.”
“I want to take it back for the new litter of little ones to try.”
Chen Daji was not stingy in the slightest. Hearing this, he immediately offered his congratulations.
“Old Immortal, new additions to the family are a good thing. I’ve gotta show my appreciation!”
“Say no more. I’ll add four more carts of spicy strips to what I already promised you.”
“Ten carts total. Nice round number!”
Old Sixth Hui thanked him with a beaming cupped-fist salute and added, “We’re so familiar with each other now. No need to call me Old Immortal from now on. Just call me Sixth Master.”
Chen Daji’s face instantly fell.
“Isn’t that kind of inappropriate?”
“My Big Brother calls you Sixth Brother, and I’m supposed to call you Sixth Master? Wouldn’t that make me his grandson?!”
“Then when I see Little Qianyue in the future, I’d have to call her Grandma…”
Hemp-clad Grandmother laughed and scolded, “You two little wretches, one old and one young, neither of you has a serious bone in your body!”
“Second Grandson, Grandmother will tell you: Heavenly Light is the first ray of sunlight each day.”
“It does the most damage to ghosts. Ordinary ones will have their souls scattered the instant even a sliver of it touches them.”
No sooner had Hemp-clad Grandmother finished speaking than the second rooster crow sounded from the village.
“No good. Grandmother has to leave too.”
“Otherwise, once the Heavenly Light spills down, I can withstand it, but the little girls carrying my sedan won’t be able to!”
Since this concerned his happiness after death, Chen Daji was naturally very concerned.
“Grandmother, hurry up and take my wives… I mean, my sisters, and go!”
That earned another laughing scold from Hemp-clad Grandmother.
“You lecherous little brat, just you wait!”
Once Hua Jiunan and Chen Daji returned to the house, Zhao Fei, who had spent the whole night terrified out of his wits, hurriedly asked, “How was it? How was it? How many ghosts came last night to deal with me?”
“Hua Boss, did you negotiate with the ghosts or not?”
Hua Jiunan was just about to speak when Chen Daji beat him to it, his expression extremely grave.
“Fatty Zhao, I’ve got good news and bad news. Which do you want to hear first?”
Zhao Fei hesitated for a long while before finally saying, “Damn it, I’ve gotten used to bad luck lately. Give me the bad news first!”
“The bad news is, the one you offended is at least a Ghost General. You’re dead for sure!”
When Zhao Fei heard that, he nearly burst into tears from fright.
Only after a long while did he continue, “Then what’s the good news?!”
Chen Daji gave a sleazy laugh.
“The good news is, I’ve decided that after you die, I’ll help take care of your current girlfriend.”
“Don’t worry. I won’t mind that she had a thing with you before!”
Only then did Zhao Fei realize Chen Daji had been messing with him. He swung his fists, and the two of them started brawling.
“Ow, holy shit! Fatty Zhao, where’s your martial virtue? You’re hitting my nose, huh?!”
“Ow, holy shit! Chen Daji, do you have any morals at all? You’re grabbing my dick! Let go! Hurry up and let go!”
“If you don’t let go, I’m gonna be ruined!”
Chen Daji had finally gained the upper hand. How could he give it up so easily?
“Ruined, then ruined. You’re going to die anyway, so what’s the point of keeping it?”
Zhao Fei was so angry he cursed at the top of his lungs.
“Go fart eighteen smoky loop-the-loops out your damn ass!”
“After I die, there’s someone waiting for me on the other side!”
“I can still use it there!”
Hua Jiunan ignored the two of them fooling around.
As the saying went: good people die young, but scourges live a thousand years.
Just from Zhao Fei’s shameless, pigheaded attitude alone, he really didn’t seem like someone who was about to die.
There should still be a way out of this.
