Chapter 96
Chapter 96
This was a rare occurrence.
The System had actually failed to inform Jiang Li of the S Rank and A Rank clear conditions.
Jiang Li’s lips curled into a faint, knowing smile.
It was likely because she had just bested the System, and now it was seeking petty revenge.
The System had only kept the most difficult clear condition, intending to increase the difficulty of Jiang Li’s adventure.
However, this wasn’t necessarily a bad thing.
The clear condition was very straightforward.
As long as Jiang Li saw off all the guests, she could leave.
It was just that these “guests” were likely all difficult to deal with.
Just as she was thinking this, a yapping little Teddy suddenly rushed out of the hotel building.
“Woof! Woof woof woof!”
The little Teddy bared its sharp teeth, its eyes glowing with an eerie red light.
It didn’t run very fast because its right front leg was wrapped in a blood-soaked bandage.
Lifting its right front leg, the Teddy ran on its remaining three legs, limping as it fled.
The direction it was heading happened to be toward the mist zone behind Jiang Li.
Jiang Li hadn’t intended to meddle.
But then something occurred to her, and her expression shifted slightly.
Jiang Li quickly took out the mutton-scented Sachet and added a drop of Sheep Blood.
As the Sheep Blood soaked into the Sachet, the mutton scent inside was instantly activated.
Jiang Li watched the Teddy, waiting for its reaction.
If it were a dog, it would definitely steer clear upon smelling this scent.
But… it didn’t.
The Teddy remained determined, trotting toward Jiang Li’s direction without a moment’s pause.
It was hell-bent on entering the mist zone.
Seeing the Teddy’s reaction, Jiang Li’s eyes darkened.
This wasn’t a dog…
If this Teddy was a guest, then things were bad!
The Teddy had no protection; entering the mist zone would be a death sentence.
SSS Rank Clear Condition:
[See off all the guests of the hotel and obtain a unanimous positive review from them.]
If a guest died, Jiang Li would never be able to get a positive review, let alone clear the stage.
Thinking of this, Jiang Li didn’t hesitate.
She stepped out, blocking the path in front of the hotel’s iron fence to stop the Teddy.
The Teddy’s gaze was vacant, its eyes flashing with red light.
It seemed possessed, single-mindedly trying to rush into the mist zone to its death.
When Jiang Li caught it, it still stared obsessively at the mist not far away, barking violently.
Jiang Li took out a Honey Soft Candy and quickly stuffed it into the Teddy’s mouth.
After forcing it to swallow, the red light in the Teddy’s eyes gradually faded.
“Honey! My little baby… Oh, why did you run outside?”
A noblewoman wearing a large fur coat and high heels rushed out of the hotel in a hurry.
She looked to be nearly forty, but her charm had not diminished in the slightest.
Ms. Song lifted her long skirt, her heels clicking “da-da-da” as she hurried down the steps straight toward Jiang Li.
“You there, server! Thank you. Here, give him to me.”
Ms. Song walked over quickly and took the Teddy from Jiang Li’s hands.
Having eaten the Honey Soft Candy, the Teddy was much more docile now.
It lay quietly in Ms. Song’s arms, neither barking nor struggling.
Only its round eyes, brimming with tears, looked toward Jiang Li as if pleading for help.
While Jiang Li was feeling puzzled, Ms. Song suddenly leaned in close to her and sniffed.
“Ugh… what’s that smell on you? Why is it so gamey?”
Ms. Song fanned the air with her hand, took a few steps back, and pinched her nose.
Jiang Li smiled faintly and discreetly put the mutton-scented Sachet back into her Space.
“Ms. Song!” a voice called out from a distance.
Jiang Li looked up to see Uncle Xue, who had just finished parking the car and was walking over.
Uncle Xue was forty-five years old this year and had no children; he was the Lobby Manager of the Clear Spring Hotel.
He looked over, carrying three small bags of items, and walked over quickly.
“Ms. Song! I’ve bought the dog food you asked me to get last time!”
Manager Xue looked at the woman holding the dog with a face full of smiles.
Hearing this, Ms. Song’s eyes immediately lit up.
She tossed the Teddy aside and snatched the dog food.
“Thank you, Manager Xue. This is exactly the brand I wanted.
Thank you so much. I’ll go to the front desk right now and register a positive review for you.”
Ms. Song clutched the dog food and gave Manager Xue a smile.
Then, she turned and headed back into the hotel building on her high heels without looking back.
Manager Xue, beaming with smiles, hurried to follow her.
Jiang Li watched their retreating backs, her eyes flickering.
It seemed like a positive review from this Ms. Song was quite easy to obtain.
As she stood there dazed, the little Teddy that had been tossed aside barked twice at Jiang Li’s feet.
“Woof! Woof!”
Teddy had regained his senses and was no longer running toward the mist.
Wagging his tail at Jiang Li, he led her to a corner near the hotel’s main entrance.
Teddy pulled out a slip of paper and dropped it at Jiang Li’s feet.
He looked as if he were thanking Jiang Li for saving him just now.
Jiang Li patted the dog’s head twice and opened the note.
[Clear Spring Hotel – Waiter Rules]
[Remember, the customer is God. Never make a customer angry.]
There was only this one rule on the paper.
“Jiang Li.” Manager Xue stood at the front desk and beckoned for her to come inside.
Jiang Li tucked the note away and stepped into the hotel building.
The interior decor was classical.
The entire place was bathed in warm yellow tones, exuding an air of luxury at every turn.
Manager Xue handed Jiang Li a file. “This is the list of guests you’ll be responsible for.”
Jiang Li scanned it; there were five in total.
Manager Xue continued his instructions:
“Your job is very simple. You just need to use your words to persuade these guests to leave. You don’t need to worry about anything else.”
Manager Xue took an elevator card from the front desk and handed it to Jiang Li.
“Use the ‘Staff Elevator’ to go up and down. This card will take you directly to the 5th floor. Go on, get to work!”
Manager Xue patted Jiang Li’s arm, his eyes crinkling into a kind smile.
The young girl at the front desk kept giggling to herself while typing on her keyboard.
Jiang Li glanced at her, silently took the elevator card, and walked toward the Elevator Entrance.
There were two elevators.
One was the Guest Elevator, and the other was the Staff Elevator.
In front of the Guest Elevator, Ms. Song was holding her dog, waiting for the elevator just like Jiang Li.
Jiang Li watched as Ms. Song tore open a bag of dog food, grabbed a handful, and held it to Teddy’s mouth.
Teddy turned his face away, looking listless and unwilling to eat.
“You won’t even eat this? You’ll starve to death if you don’t eat,” Ms. Song scolded affectionately.
Then, she stuffed the handful of dog food into her own mouth.
She chewed while grumbling about Teddy not knowing what was good for him.
Teddy curled his body up and lifted his eyelids, casting a sorrowful look at Jiang Li.
*Ding!*
The elevator Ms. Song was waiting for arrived.
Jiang Li watched as Ms. Song stepped inside.
The numbers for the Guest Elevator went up, finally stopping at the 3rd floor.
Not long after, Jiang Li’s Staff Elevator arrived.
By comparison, the Staff Elevator was much cruder than the Guest Elevator.
Jiang Li stepped inside and found another person already standing there.
It was a young woman with straight-cut bangs.
Like Jiang Li, she wore a black staff uniform.
The woman’s pale skin was covered in bruises.
The title on her name tag read “Elevator Attendant.”
Standing next to the elevator buttons, the woman looked at Jiang Li.
“Hello, which floor? Please show me your elevator card.”
She reached out, took Jiang Li’s card, and swiped it with a *beep*.
The button for the 5th floor lit up, turning red.
The elevator ascended slowly.
With a *ding*, the doors opened on the 5th floor.
A slip of paper was lying just outside the elevator doors.
Jiang Li exited the elevator and picked it up.
“Welcome to the Clear Spring Hotel and to your work on this floor.
During your working hours, please take note of the following information:
The Room 501 Guest is a strange Old Man.
The Old Man is known for being a perfect gentleman.
However, as his eyesight has declined in recent years, his temper has grown increasingly eccentric.
Since becoming completely blind, the Old Man spends all his days in the hotel, never seeing the light of day.
Please persuade the Old Man to leave the hotel.”
Jiang Li turned the paper over and found new rules on the back.
[Clear Spring Hotel – 5th Floor Rules]
[1. There is a ‘Hot Spring Pool’ at the end of the hallway. The Room 501 Guest will go to the ‘Hot Spring Pool’ to bathe every day from 09:45 to 10:00. Please clean Room 501 during this time.]
On the long slip of paper, only the first rule appeared at the top.
It seemed that uncovering the remaining rules would require additional triggers.
Jiang Li tucked the note away and walked down the hallway.
The electronic screen on the wall showed the current time as 9:40 AM.
There were five minutes left before the Old Man would leave his room for the Hot Spring Pool.
Jiang Li checked the room numbers as she walked along the corridor.
But the more she looked, the grimmer her expression became.
The Old Man lived in Room 501.
Yet, as far as Jiang Li could see…
Every single door along the long hallway was labeled Room 501!
