Chapter 106
Chapter 106
Jiang Li walked quickly ahead to lead the way.
Behind her, the Cook adjusted his collar as he walked, his smugness practically radiating from him.
“Server, are the bones ready yet? Please hurry up, thank you!”
The man from Room 404 suddenly started shouting.
Jiang Li’s heart, which had been hanging by a thread, suddenly began to thud wildly.
She quickly replied at the top of her lungs, “One moment, sir! The bones are stewing in the pot. I’ll have them ready for you immediately.”
After Jiang Li finished speaking, she caught a glimpse of the man behind her out of the corner of her eye.
The Cook’s footsteps remained steady; he shouldn’t have noticed anything.
Jiang Li let out a soft sigh of relief.
They hadn’t walked more than a few steps further when the Cook suddenly spoke up: “Wait a minute!”
Jiang Li’s heart skipped a beat.
“What’s wrong, Brother?”
Jiang Li stopped and turned back to look at the Cook, who had already halted.
“Brother, let’s get over there quickly. Don’t keep the guest waiting.”
Jiang Li feigned composure, doing her best to urge him along.
Faced with Jiang Li’s uncharacteristic behavior, the Cook suddenly frowned and looked at her suspiciously.
“No, no, no. Something’s not right.” The Cook pinched his chin, staring at Jiang Li with doubt.
He circled halfway around her, his gaze turning sharp.
“Something is wrong with you. You’re trying to set me up!” the Cook barked at Jiang Li, his tone full of suppressed rage.
Jiang Li’s heart trembled.
It seemed this guy actually had a brain; he had actually seen through her.
However, since the Cook hadn’t explicitly stated his suspicions, Jiang Li could only play dumb.
She offered a placating smile. “Brother, what are you talking about? I’ve given you the chance to take all the credit. Why would I try to harm you?”
“No, no, no…” The Cook’s eyes turned cold. “You definitely have bad intentions!”
Jiang Li felt a chill run through half her body.
If the Cook refused to go, then Jiang Li would have no choice but to… use force.
Jiang Li looked at the Cook with cold eyes.
Without another word, the Cook turned around and ran back into the Kitchen.
Behind them, the guest from Room 404 urged them on plaintively.
“Server, is it ready yet? Please be quick, thank you!”
Jiang Li looked back. “In a moment, sir. I’m going to get the bones for you right now.”
After saying that, Jiang Li rolled up her sleeves, picked up her pace, and followed the Cook into the Kitchen.
Inside the Kitchen.
The Cook was holding a large iron ladle, scooping a Big Bone into a bowl and adding some thick bone broth.
When he saw Jiang Li arrive, he gave a cold snort.
“Newbie, don’t think I didn’t hear that!
I clearly heard the guest from Room 404 asking for bones just now. Why didn’t you tell me sooner?
Hmph, I see you did it on purpose. You wanted to lead me over there to get scolded! You wanted to ruin my chances for a Letter of Commendation!”
The Cook rolled his eyes while holding the Big Bones.
He turned around and saw Jiang Li standing behind him with a grim expression, clutching a kitchen knife.
The Cook was so startled that the bowl in his hand almost crashed to the floor.
“What are you doing with my knife?! You want to hack me to death, don’t you?” The Cook set the bowl down, his gaze turning icy.
His eyes flashed with sparks of fury as he stared intently at Jiang Li.
From the look of it, he was ready to get into a fight with her.
Jiang Li froze for a moment when she saw the bone soup the Cook had prepared.
She took the opportunity to place the knife back into the nearby rack. “No… that’s not it, Brother. I saw you hadn’t put your knife away properly and didn’t want it to fall on your foot.”
Jiang Li gave the Cook a couple of forced, dry laughs.
The Cook observed Jiang Li for a few more moments.
Seeing that her eyes were clear and she seemed to have no ulterior motives, he slowly lowered his guard.
“Server!! Why isn’t it ready yet!” The guest in Room 404 began banging on the door to vent his frustration.
Hearing this, the Cook hurriedly picked up the Big Bones and headed out.
“Hurry up, stop dawdling! If my Letter of Commendation falls through, I’ll see how you pay me back!” the Cook grumbled.
Then, Jiang Li watched as the Cook rushed frantically toward the corridor.
Jiang Li stared at the Cook’s retreating back, letting out a small sigh of relief.
She had thought the Cook had picked up on the hidden meaning behind her words, but as it turned out… he had just misheard her.
Still, this worked out for the best.
The Cook was carrying the Big Bones out with him.
When the time came, whichever bone the Guest 404 decided to gnaw on would be the guest’s own choice.
“Hurry up, lead the way!” the Cook urged Jiang Li.
Meanwhile, the sound of banging on the door of Room 404 grew louder and louder.
Jiang Li led the Cook, quickly arriving at the entrance of Room 404.
The door was wide open.
Jiang Li looked at the Guest of Room 404, raised her hand, and pointed toward the Cook.
“Sir, I’ve brought the bones for you.”
After Jiang Li finished speaking, she silently took a step back.
The Cook beside her wore a fawning smile.
He hurried forward to claim the credit:
“Yes, yes, the bones are here. I specially stewed them for you, please have a taste. Also, about the Letter of Commendation…”
Before the Cook could finish his sentence, his eyes suddenly widened in terror.
As the man from Room 404 opened his mouth wide to eat the Big Bones in the Cook’s hand, he also bit down on half of the Cook’s arm in one mouthful.
This guest… was a monster!!
The Cook looked down at the bloody stump that remained of his arm, his mind going blank with a sudden “buzz.”
A pungent smell of urine wafted through the air.
Jiang Li looked closer-the Cook had… wet himself.
Jiang Li took another step back, staying far away from the doorway.
A man’s desperate scream echoed from the entrance of Room 404.
The man struggled for a moment before falling completely silent.
Jiang Li kept her head down throughout the ordeal, staring at the red carpet to avoid looking at the scene.
From Jiang Li’s perspective, she could only see red liquid splattering onto the carpet, blending into its dark red hue.
In truth, the Cook didn’t have to die.
If he had simply followed the rules and cooked the food instead of scheming, he could have fed the Room 404 Guest and everything would have been fine.
But unfortunately, he was unwilling to cook.
And so, he became the dish himself.
After all, Jiang Li couldn’t possibly take the fall for the Cook’s negligence, nor was she going to sacrifice her own life for him.
Whoever makes the mistake bears the responsibility.
Jiang Li pondered for a moment.
By now, the man from Room 404 had finished chewing.
The man finally spat out some bones with bits of muscle and tendon still attached, discarding them onto the corridor floor with a “ptui.”
“Burp~” The man seemed to be full.
Jiang Li asked, “Sir, your Afternoon Tea has been delivered. On a scale of 1 to 10, please give me a rating.”
The man from Room 404 thought for a moment. “Hmm, let’s say a 9. These bones had a bit of a urine smell, but everything else was quite good.”
Before the man could close the door, Jiang Li asked point-blank, “Sir, do you want to leave the hotel?”
Hearing this, the man from Room 404 paused his movement to close the door.
His expression suddenly turned sorrowful.
“It’s no use. With my size, I can’t even fit into the elevator.”
After the man finished speaking, he slammed the door shut with a loud “bang.”
Jiang Li now had her answer.
This man didn’t “not want to leave”; he “couldn’t leave.”
Perhaps controlling the man’s appetite could prevent him from continuing to gain weight.
That way, one day in the future, he might be able to slim down and leave the hotel.
But the difficulty lay in the fact that, for some special reason, the man was obsessed-he felt compelled to eat like a man possessed.
If Jiang Li tried to persuade him to diet or control his weight, it would surely make him angry.
But was there any way to make a monster “rapidly shed fat” and slim down into a normal person?
