Chapter 125
Chapter 125
Jiang Li snapped her head up.
Although she couldn’t see the girl, Jiang Li could feel her presence right in front of her, staring at her intently.
“Who exactly are you?” Jiang Li asked sternly.
After waiting for a dozen seconds, the girl in front of her remained silent.
Jiang Li knew the girl hadn’t left, because the faint sound of breathing continued to linger in the space before her.
Suddenly, Jiang Li felt a chill on her wrist.
A cold hand had gripped her.
“Let’s speak in private,” the girl said in a sweet, cutesy voice.
She pulled Jiang Li by the wrist, leading her to the end of the corridor by the elevator doors.
The girl released Jiang Li and said, “I’ll be honest with you-I am the Guest of Room 206.”
Jiang Li raised an eyebrow. “How can you prove that?”
The girl thought for a moment, then lifted Jiang Li’s hand and placed something in it.
It was a room card.
The number on the card was indeed 206.
“I know you’re here to take me out of here,” the girl said bluntly. “Don’t waste your effort. I’m not leaving.”
Jiang Li was puzzled.
The girl’s voice continued, “Even if I leave this place, I have no way to survive looking like this. People outside would only see me as a monster. I don’t want to go looking for trouble.”
The girl’s tone was firm, as if she wasn’t joking.
However, escorting guests out of the hotel was a mission Jiang Li had to complete.
Thinking of this, Jiang Li tried to persuade her. “Don’t you want to go out and see your family?”
The girl fell silent for a moment.
“Family… I don’t even know if I have a family. I have no memories. I just woke up one day and found myself here. But no matter what I do-whether I jump out of a window or try to commit suicide-I’ve tried so many methods, yet I always wake up back in the hotel bed. It’s been a cycle like that for many years. During all this time, no ‘family’ has ever come looking for me. So, doesn’t that just prove that I might not have had a family to begin with?”
Hearing the girl’s account, Jiang Li crossed her arms and rested her chin on one hand, sinking into thought.
“Then besides you, who are the other people living here?” Jiang Li asked.
The girl’s voice trembled slightly. “I… I don’t know. But they all…”
The girl hesitated, stopping mid-sentence.
She suddenly grabbed Jiang Li’s hand and guided her fingers to her left arm.
It was covered in healed scars.
Each one was extremely long, crawling across her arm like centipedes.
“Did they do this to you?” Jiang Li frowned.
The girl gave a soft “mm” in response. “They took advantage of being an Invisible Person to hurt me without restraint. Because neither I nor they can be seen by others, all their crimes have been covered up.”
Jiang Li couldn’t understand. “Then why don’t you leave?”
The girl explained, “Because that was all a long time ago. Now I’ve reached a reconciliation with them, and they don’t bully me anymore. Perhaps they could be considered my friends now.”
The girl finished speaking with an air of indifference, then emphasized her point to Jiang Li once more:
“I hate living in loneliness. Rather than going out to live a lonely life where no one can see me, I’d rather live here with them. At least for now, there’s still someone to talk to.”
Jiang Li remained silent for two seconds after hearing this.
“Then if I kill them all and there’s no one left to talk to, you’ll be willing to leave, right?” Jiang Li said.
The girl’s voice sounded slightly shocked. “You… how could you do such a thing to my friends?!”
After saying this, the girl seemed to grow angry with Jiang Li. “Forget it. Since we don’t see eye to eye, I have nothing more to say to you.”
The sound of the girl’s footsteps moved away.
Jiang Li gazed in the direction the girl had gone, her eyes deep and inscrutable.
Right at that moment, something fell out of thin air and landed on the hallway carpet.
Jiang Li found the object familiar. She stepped forward quickly and picked it up.
This was… the Staff Elevator Card used to go down from the 2nd floor!
“Mommy, it looks like you made the Guest of Room 206 angry,” Red Infant said, sitting on Jiang Li’s shoulder while sucking on a lollipop.
Jiang Li curled her lips into a slight smile. “She’s faking it. If I actually killed those things, she’d be happy to death.”
“Huh? Really? Does that mean everything this guest said was a lie…” Red Infant scratched his head.
Jiang Li casually tucked the Elevator Card into her pocket. “Half-truths.”
“If those things really aren’t bullying her anymore, then guess why she specifically brought me over here to talk away from them?”
To avoid those things meant the girl was wary of them.
The relationship between them was likely not as “friendly” as the girl claimed.
And there was probably only one reason why the girl had to express this so cryptically-
“Red Infant, help Mommy check. Is there someone constantly following that big sister?”
Red Infant glanced over and nodded. “Yes, Mommy.”
“While we were talking just now, there was a Man in Red leaning against the corner of the wall here, probably eavesdropping. After that big sister left, the Man in Red followed her.”
Jiang Li’s eyes flickered.
This Guest of Room 206 might look weak, but her mind worked very fast.
Her claim that she “didn’t want to leave” was, on one hand, for the benefit of the eavesdropper, so as not to alert those creatures.
On the other hand, she wanted to use it as leverage.
She knew Jiang Li’s goal was to “take the guests away.”
But before she left this place, she wanted Jiang Li to help her get revenge.
That was why she said things like “I don’t like being lonely.”
To make her leave, one would have to make her feel lonely.
And the only way to make her feel lonely here was to completely wipe out all those things on the 2nd floor.
Every word the girl said was meant to guide Jiang Li toward the thought: “If I kill everyone, she will go with me.”
She could see through everyone’s intentions.
She also wanted to use Jiang Li as a blade to kill her enemies.
This intentionally dropped Elevator Card was the best proof that she approved of Jiang Li’s proposed solution.
