Chapter 116
Chapter 116
Having secured Jiang Li’s guarantee, the Mirror Person’s lips curled up into a brilliant smile.
“It’s a deal, then! No backing out!”
With that, the Mirror Person scampered away eagerly.
Jiang Li watched its retreating back, feeling that something was off.
Although this Aberration shared her face, its demeanor and behavior were nothing like her own.
To Jiang Li, this Aberration felt like a version of herself that had gone insane.
She pushed the Service Cart a few steps before suddenly remembering something.
She quickly called out to the Aberration, “Hey, you! How can I find you?”
Having already disappeared around the corner, the Mirror Person poked its head back out.
It flashed a toothy grin. “Find a mirror and call for me. You can call me… uh, Patient ID 1037!”
After saying this, the Mirror Person retracted its neck and vanished.
Jiang Li noted this characteristic: the Aberration came from mirrors.
Furthermore, this Mirror Person loved jumping around.
It seemed immensely curious about the world “outside the mirror.”
Once the Mirror Person left, Jiang Li withdrew her gaze and pushed the Service Cart into the Kitchen.
Not long after she entered the Kitchen, the Note in her pocket began to feel warm.
She immediately pulled it out to check the rules.
[Clear Spring Hotel – 3rd Floor Rules] Rule 3:
[If you are unfortunately caught by ‘it’ and severely contaminated, you may briefly restore your Human Form by consuming a ‘Hot Honey Drink.’ This state lasts for 30 minutes.]
Following the rule were several long lines of a Red Text Prompt.
These prompts were all enclosed in parentheses.
They detailed the method to “prematurely cancel the Human Form.”
However, Jiang Li felt she wouldn’t need that method.
A single instance of the Human Form only lasted 30 minutes; if anything, that was too short.
Why would anyone find it too long and need to cancel it early?
Still, to be safe, Jiang Li glanced over the complex set of instructions.
Just as she finished reading the lengthy steps, the Red Text Prompt… vanished!
The large block of text faded away right before her eyes until it was completely gone.
Jiang Li was momentarily stunned.
This long prompt was actually self-destructing after being read!
It had only stayed visible for a few short seconds.
After a moment of thought, she quickly pulled a pen and paper from her pocket, bit off the cap, and buried herself in the task of writing down the sequence of operations from memory.
Regardless of whether the information was useful, there was no harm in recording it.
The procedure to “prematurely cancel the Human Form” was extremely complicated.
There were many specific requirements.
If she didn’t write it down now, no one could guarantee she would remember every detail perfectly in a few hours.
Relying on her incredible memory, Jiang Li replicated the text exactly as it had appeared.
Only after seeing the paper filled with several lines of text did her brow finally relax.
As she stared at the rules and her notes, her eyes flickered with thought.
She remembered the little Teddy on this floor.
By utilizing the third rule, she might be able to talk to the Teddy.
If she could confirm that the Teddy was the real Ms. Song, then securing a Positive Review would be much easier.
All she had to do now was wait.
She needed to wait for a moment when Ms. Song was away and the Teddy was alone.
The Kitchen was located very close to the Elevator Entrance.
Using the excuse of working in the Kitchen, Jiang Li secretly monitored Ms. Song’s movements.
Usually, Ms. Song took the Teddy with her whenever she went out.
Jiang Li waited until six o’clock in the evening.
It was roughly the time for a post-dinner stroll.
This time, Ms. Song came out alone without the dog, carrying her handbag.
Inside the bag were two empty snack bags.
It looked like she had run out of Dog Treats and was heading out to buy more.
Jiang Li watched as the elevator Ms. Song boarded descended from the 3rd Floor to the 1st Floor. Only then did she finally feel at ease.
Meanwhile, Jiang Li had already taken advantage of being in the Kitchen to soak that bottle of “Honey Drink” in warm water.
The rules stated that the drink given to the Teddy must be a “Hot Honey Drink.”
Everything was ready; all she needed was the right opportunity.
Now that Ms. Song had gone out, Jiang Li took the drink and immediately headed to Room 318.
Jiang Li took out the Universal Room Card, intending to swipe her way directly into Room 318.
However, her movements froze when she caught sight of a Note wedged in the door crack!
If anyone opened the door, the Note would fall to the ground.
It seemed Ms. Song had a very strong sense of precaution.
She might be guarding against someone entering the room, or perhaps preventing the Teddy from sneaking out.
However, while this “wedged note” trick seemed cautious, it was actually quite easy to bypass.
As long as Jiang Li noticed the detail, she could simply wedge the Note back in place when she left.
Ms. Song was vigilant, but only to a point.
Jiang Li hesitated for a moment.
To avoid any unnecessary complications, she chose not to touch the door at all.
She walked to the door of Room 320, swiped her card, and entered.
Then, she climbed over the Balcony to enter Room 318.
As Jiang Li reached the Balcony, she happened to see the back of Ms. Song disappearing into the thick mist.
She successfully entered Room 318.
Inside, Jiang Li saw the Teddy. Its neck was tied with a hemp rope, tethered to the iron bars of the window.
The moment the Teddy saw Jiang Li, its listless face suddenly lit up.
Jiang Li crouched in front of the dog, took out the Hot Honey Drink, poured it into the Dog Bowl, and fed it to the Teddy.
Facing the intruder Jiang Li, the Teddy showed no resistance.
It obediently lowered its head, wagging its tail slightly as it lapped up the hot drink from the bowl.
Slowly, the Teddy’s form began to shift back into the shape of the Curly-Haired Woman.
This state would only last for 30 minutes.
Jiang Li glanced at the time in the room and began a mental countdown.
“Are you Ms. Song?” Jiang Li asked, getting straight to the point.
The Curly-Haired Woman nodded, tears welling in the corners of her eyes.
“Give me a Positive Review first.” Jiang Li produced a Score Sheet.
The Curly-Haired Woman took the pen, found the score column, and filled in the number 10.
While the Curly-Haired Woman was writing, Jiang Li continued, “Why are you here?”
The Curly-Haired Woman’s voice trembled as tears fell.
“In my memory… it feels like I’ve always been here. My master keeps me with her. Anything before that… I can’t remember.”
A vacant look filled the Curly-Haired Woman’s eyes.
She tried to recall things from years ago.
But the more she tried to remember, the more her head throbbed, feeling as if it were about to explode.
Seeing the Curly-Haired Woman in such pain, Jiang Li quickly interrupted her.
“Alright, if you can’t remember, then forget it. It’s not important.”
Jiang Li then asked the Curly-Haired Woman, “Do you want to get out?”
“Yes.”
Jiang Li made a quick decision. “Then come with me now. We need to check out immediately before that person returns.”
Jiang Li’s goal was to help the guests leave the hotel.
As for whether the Curly-Haired Woman would be found by that woman afterward because of the Tracking Device, that would depend on the Curly-Haired Woman’s own capabilities.
Upon hearing Jiang Li’s suggestion, the Curly-Haired Woman immediately shook her head.
“I’ve tried. Only the room is a Safe Zone. The moment I leave this room, my master will receive an alert. I can’t escape.”
Jiang Li stared at the electronic dog collar around the Curly-Haired Woman’s neck.
“There’s a tracker on it. Take it off and leave it in Room 318. As long as the tracker doesn’t leave this room, she won’t get an alert.”
The Curly-Haired Woman clutched the collar, her face twisted in distress as she continued to shake her head.
She sobbed, “It won’t work. This thing monitors my heart rate. If I take it off, my master will receive an alert instantly.”
Jiang Li frowned.
This wouldn’t work, that wouldn’t work.
“If there’s really no other way, then we’ll just have to kill your master.”
