Chapter 189
Chapter 189
Jiang Li nodded. “Right. The kid’s Pony had eaten something bad, and he said he was going to take the Pony to deal with it.”
What Jiang Li hadn’t expected was that the Little Soldier’s idea of “dealing with it” would be to sneak the Pony into Zhao Qingqing’s courtyard to take a dump.
Even now, when Zhao Qingqing thought back to the scene, she still felt like it had seared her eyes.
“Jiang Li, I’ll take you over. The kid is sleeping in a room.”
Zhao Qingqing led Jiang Li toward the stairs.
“He looked like he hadn’t woken up properly. When I saw him, he was crouching obediently beside the Pony, and his eyelids were so heavy he could barely keep them open.”
Zhao Qingqing arrived at the innermost Bedroom on the second floor. This had also been her late grandmother’s Bedroom.
At the door to the Bedroom, Zhao Qingqing took out the house keys, selected one, and prepared to open the lock.
Zhao Qingqing wasn’t very familiar with the keys to the room, so she could only sort through them and try them one by one.
“Jiang Li, what exactly is that kid? Is he important?” Zhao Qingqing asked as she worked on the lock.
Jiang Li said frankly, “That kid is a soldier from the castle. Like us, he’s a player. His identity should be able to get us into the castle.”
As the two talked outside the door, the smell of disinfectant drifted into Jiang Li’s nose.
“Did you disinfect the place?” Jiang Li asked Zhao Qingqing.
The smell was very much like something that would appear in a hospital or medical laboratory.
Most people’s homes would not have such a strong disinfectant odor.
Zhao Qingqing looked at Jiang Li in confusion and continued working the lock. “No. Why would I disinfect anything?”
Zhao Qingqing sniffed carefully twice and frowned. “It does seem to smell like disinfectant.”
Just then, the sound of a window opening came from inside the room.
Jiang Li’s heart jolted. She couldn’t wait for Zhao Qingqing to find the right key. She immediately kicked the wooden door open!
“Who’s there!” Jiang Li rushed to the windowsill and looked down through the window.
A figure vanished into the mist, disappearing without a trace.
Zhao Qingqing also realized this was not simple. She instantly raised her guard and searched behind the door, behind the Curtain, under the bed, and inside the wardrobe.
The intruder had already run away. At the same time, the two of them looked at the Little Soldier on the bed.
The Little Soldier’s clothes had been pulled open, and a layer of medicine had been applied over his abdominal cavity, as if he was being prepared for an abdominal incision.
The sleeping Little Soldier seemed to be having some wonderful dream, a sweet smile hanging at the corners of his mouth.
“There’s something wrong with the chocolate,” Jiang Li speculated.
She secured the window lock and came to the bedside. “Red Infant became drowsy after eating chocolate too. So did the Little Soldier.”
“Was this deliberately arranged by the Ghost Face Organization?” Zhao Qingqing asked. “Why would they do this?”
Jiang Li recalled the prophecy, in which all four of her teammates had died the same way: the heart was missing.
Lulling the children to sleep was very likely for the sake of extracting the heart while they were still alive.
Jiang Li lowered her head and looked at the Little Soldier.
If she and Zhao Qingqing had arrived even a little later, the Little Soldier would have been dissected alive.
Jiang Li analyzed, “This game may be related to the Living Heart.
The killer is also someone from the Ghost Face Organization.
If the Ghost Face Organization wants the heart, they can simply kill people first and then take it.
But they handed out chocolate candy to the children. It’s obvious they hoped that after the children fell asleep, it would be easier to send out the killer and remove the heart from a living body.
Eating the chocolate, falling into a deep sleep, and being alone-these are all the prerequisites for the killer to come out and commit the crime.”
Zhao Qingqing’s eyes widened in shock. “How could they be so cruel? What exactly is the Ghost Face Organization trying to do?”
Jiang Li shook her head. “I’m still not sure.”
So far, Jiang Li had participated in too few amusement park projects. She did not have direct evidence to infer the Ghost Face Organization’s intentions.
But Jiang Li was certain that this entire amusement park was hiding a tremendous secret belonging to the Ghost Face Organization.
Zhao Qingqing helped Jiang Li dress the Little Soldier.
Jiang Li called out to the Little Soldier several times.
Fortunately, the Little Soldier had not eaten much chocolate, and Jiang Li and Zhao Qingqing were eventually able to wake him.
The Little Soldier opened his bleary eyes. The moment he saw Jiang Li and Zhao Qingqing, his mouth crumpled, and he burst into loud sobs.
“Waaah! I want to get out! I don’t want to stay here, waaah…”
The Little Soldier was trembling all over.
Jiang Li and Zhao Qingqing had no idea what was going on.
When the Little Soldier had been asleep, there had even been a smile on his lips. He had not looked like he was having a nightmare.
“What happened? Stop crying first,” Jiang Li coaxed.
Fairy Tale World Survival Rules, Rule Two:
[In the Fairy Tale World, tears will bring misfortune. Remember, never become a crying child.]
The Little Boy would not listen.
To stop the Little Boy from crying, Jiang Li simply pinched the Little Soldier’s mouth shut.
“If you stop crying, I’ll let go. Be good.” Jiang Li’s gaze was sincere.
The Little Soldier hiccuped twice, looking at Jiang Li through tear-blurred eyes. Left with no choice, he nodded.
“Why were you crying?” Jiang Li released him.
The Little Soldier forced back his sobs. “I saw a lot of children hanging on the wall. Their stomachs were covered in blood.
“They told me to run, to leave this place no matter what, and to run as far away as I could.”
Jiang Li’s first thought was that the place where so many children were hanging must be another layer of hell set up by the Ghost Face Organization.
Just like in the Ferris Wheel Game, where all the dead players were sent.
“Did someone take you there? Or did you go there yourself?” Jiang Li asked.
The Little Soldier said, “A princess little sister in a pink dress took me there. She said I should get ready because she was going to hang me on the wall too in a little while.”
Jiang Li and Zhao Qingqing exchanged a look.
Both of them understood at once. The princess little sister the Little Soldier mentioned, the one who had led him there, was probably the Mascot Little Princess they had run into several times before.
Just then, from outside the second-floor window, came the sound of jingling bells.
They turned to look and saw Santa Claus’s blood-soaked face pressed against the glass, staring dazedly at the Little Soldier.
Santa Claus had been drawn over by the Little Soldier’s crying.
“Good children don’t cry, heh heh heh… Grandpa will bring you a present!”
Santa Claus held up a knife dripping with blood.
The tip of the blade scraped against the glass window, making a sharp, grating sound.
“You wait right there. Grandpa will bring the present to you, heh heh.”
After Santa Claus finished speaking, he climbed up the wooden ladder toward the roof.
“The chimney!” Jiang Li’s expression tightened with urgency. “Zhao Qingqing, is your chimney blocked?”
Jiang Li remembered that Santa Claus had said if they did not open the door for him, he would climb in through the chimney.
Zhao Qingqing began to panic too. “I-I don’t know. I’m not that familiar with this house either.”
Jiang Li immediately took the Little Soldier and ran out of the Bedroom.
“There should be a Kitchen or a woodshed on the second floor. Hurry, search for it!”
Santa Claus had come to kill the Little Soldier.
But the Little Soldier could not die.
If the two of them wanted to get to the castle across the way, they still needed the Little Soldier’s help.
After a frantic search, they finally found the woodshed with the chimney at the end of the other side of the second floor.
When Jiang Li and the others arrived, they saw Santa Claus’s calves in red pants already sticking out from inside the chimney.
