Chapter 92

The Caregiver Uncle took out his phone and scrolled through his contacts.

As he searched, he said, “Speaking of which, I do have a suitable friend. He’s a former colleague of mine; like me, he used to work at the Clear Spring Hotel. You can just call him ‘Uncle Xue.’ You’ve actually met him a few times before. The Xues have never been able to have children, so it’s a good fit for you to go there. I’ll use my suicide note as a pretext to ask him to take you out of here.”

The Caregiver Uncle quickly got in touch with Uncle Xue.

That afternoon.

Uncle Xue arrived at the Orphanage.

He specifically asked for “Lili.”

Since he provided proof of being a family friend, Jiang Li could be taken away directly, without even needing to go through the Trial Adoption period.

After Uncle Xue finished his discussion with the Vice Dean, he gave Jiang Li some time to pack her things.

Jiang Li went back to the dormitory to say goodbye to Uncle Zhao.

Uncle Zhao took out a Universal Room Card-it was a room card for the Clear Spring Hotel.

He instructed Jiang Li, “Lili, I don’t have much else I can do to help you now. I only have this card. This room card can open any door. If necessary, it can provide you with a place of refuge.”

Jiang Li took the room card.

When she stepped out of the dormitory, the hallway was crowded with Aberrations.

All the Aberrations had come out, wanting to block Jiang Li’s path.

Jiang Li knew that what these Aberrations wanted to keep wasn’t her, but Red Infant.

Red Infant was the master of the Candy House.

Without Red Infant’s Aberration Power, the Candy House would be unable to sustain itself.

As for when the Candy House would eventually collapse, Jiang Li couldn’t be certain.

Jiang Li squeezed through the crowd and made her way to the hall.

“Lili, are you really leaving?”

“Can’t you stay, Lili?”

In the center of the hall, two children stood in Jiang Li’s way.

One was the Little Shota, and the other was Yingying.

Each of them held a knife in their left hand.

Jiang Li’s gaze swept over the two of them, finally coming to rest slowly on the Little Shota’s face.

Jiang Li’s eyes hardened slightly. “What, are you planning to kill me now, Yangyang? Or rather, should I call you… the murderer?”

Hearing this, the Little Shota raised an eyebrow. “I don’t understand what you’re talking about.”

Jiang Li eyed a fruit knife on the coffee table in the hall. As she spoke, she nonchalantly moved closer to it.

“I originally thought the Hidden Chosen One was Yingying. But it wasn’t until I went to the Candy House that I discovered Yingying’s Dream Fragments… there were actually over thirty of them! A Dream Fragment is only produced once a year, which means Yingying has been here for at least thirty years. The reason Yingying never grows up is likely due to a pituitary hormone disorder. Yingying looks like she has no physical defects, but in reality, her defect is the most severe. Once adoptive parents discover the truth, they abandon the ‘freak’ that is Yingying. That’s why every so often, she fabricates a new age, changes her name, and returns to the Orphanage.”

After finishing her analysis, Jiang Li lifted her eyelids and looked at Yingying. “Am I right?”

Yingying’s eyes flickered. She turned her face away and bit her lip, remaining silent.

The Hidden Chosen One was the murderer, and the murderer was left-handed.

Jiang Li’s gaze shifted down, locking onto the small knife held in Yingying’s left hand.

From the way she held the knife, it was clear that Yingying was not proficient with her left hand.

Jiang Li guessed that Yingying must have witnessed the entire process of the Little Shota committing the murders at the Binjiang Villa. The Little Shota wanted to muddy the waters, so he deliberately spared Yingying. However, the prerequisite was that Yingying had to pretend to be left-handed. By doing so, they could mislead Jiang Li and keep himself out of danger.

“I’m certain you’re the one who killed the Rat Couple,” Jiang Li said, her eyes boring straight into the Little Shota.

Seeing that Jiang Li had seen through him, the Little Shota stopped pretending.

Thinking back on everything the Rat Couple had done, his adrenaline surged with rage.

The Little Shota’s face flushed red with anger as he roared, “They deserved to die!!!”

After a moment of stalemate.

The Little Shota pulled a long face, breaking the silence.

He spoke resentfully, “I am indeed the murderer, but I don’t just kill anyone!”
Right in front of Jiang Li, the Little Shota retracted his folding dagger. “You can go. I won’t kill you.”

Jiang Li raised an eyebrow in surprise.

In this world of Aberrations, she didn’t dare trust any promise easily in a life-or-death situation like this.

The Little Shota knew Jiang Li didn’t believe him, so he sneered.

“You were communicating with the Intelligence Department the other day. Did you think I couldn’t understand? Hmph, if I wanted to make a move, I would have done it long ago. Why would I wait until now?”

Jiang Li remained wary of him, gripping her fruit knife tightly as she slowly backed out of the passage.

Uncle Xue was still waiting for her in the car at the Orphanage entrance.

She needed to get out as soon as possible!

As long as she made it out, Jiang Li could clear the stage.

“Hey, Jiang Li,” the murderer suddenly called out to her.

“If you manage to make it out of this Weird Tale alive, go check on the Jinghai City Orphanage for me.

“I think… most people can’t accept the child of a rapist, and neither can I.

“But even after being a fugitive for ten years, I still can’t let go of the child.”

Jiang Li turned back to look at him in astonishment.

This time, what Jiang Li saw was not the face of a Little Shota.

Instead, it was a haggard woman in her thirties.

This woman understood Morse Code and knew how to hide her left-handedness, which was enough to prove she was clever, wise, and well-educated.

However, the woman’s right hand was twisted in a bizarre, distorted posture.

She was a murderer, but she wasn’t a natural left-hander.

It was because she had been trafficked into the deep mountains, where her right hand had suffered inhuman torture until it was completely useless, forcing her to switch to her left hand.

Jiang Li nodded. “I promise you.”

Jiang Li hurried toward the door.

But countless Aberrations suddenly gathered at the entrance of the wooden house, blocking Jiang Li’s path.

They couldn’t let Red Infant leave!

Although Jiang Li hadn’t broken any rules and the Aberrations couldn’t harm her, they could still work together to obstruct her.

Jiang Li’s expression turned cold. She gripped the fruit knife and sliced her palm, staining it with human blood.

Facing the Aberrations blocking her path, Jiang Li raised the Human Blood Dagger and cut through them one by one.

As it stabbed the Aberrations, the Human Blood Dagger became increasingly “transparent.”

The number of Aberrations was simply too vast.

She killed many, but their numbers didn’t seem to decrease.

Jiang Li found herself in a difficult spot.

In the next second, the murderer flashed to Jiang Li’s side.

Her killing style was lethal with every strike, not inferior to Jiang Li’s in the slightest.

As the woman fought, she shouted at Jiang Li, “Go, now! I’ll cover the rear! Before I die… I want to be a good person for once.”

Immediately after, the woman manifested countless Clones.

The talent the world of Aberrations had given this murderer was actually “Clone”!

With the murderer’s Clones, her combat power was maxed out.

The mastermind behind the world of Aberrations had given the Hidden Chosen One such a high-level talent; it seemed they truly wanted Jiang Li dead!

Fortunately, the murderer had not chosen to be Jiang Li’s enemy.

Taking Red Infant with her, Jiang Li took the opportunity to sprint out of the wooden house.

Outside, dark clouds covered the sky, winter rain fell steadily, and lightning flashed accompanied by peals of thunder.

Jiang Li braved the rain, heading toward the back gate of the Orphanage.

When she reached the gate, she saw three people from the Water Quality Supervision Bureau.

The Vice Dean was waiting at the gate, receiving them as they stepped out of their car.

The people from the Water Quality Supervision Bureau presented their IDs.

“We received a report that the Orphanage’s water source contains radioactive substances.”

After saying this, they pulled out a stack of diagnostic reports.

The Vice Dean looked shocked. “How is that possible… We and the surrounding residents all use water from the river.”

“You should know that Diao Couple who live in the Binjiang Villa and were on the news, right?” the person from the Water Supervision Bureau suddenly asked.

The Vice Dean froze for a moment, then nodded.

The official continued, “The police searched the Diao Couple’s home and found a large amount of radioactive material.

“They kidnapped a large number of children and used their blood, mixed with radioactive elements, to practice a secret form of sorcery.

“The resulting radioactive wastewater was discharged directly into the river.

“All the residents in this area who use the river water have been affected. Their bodies are riddled with various diseases, and they won’t live more than a few years.”
