Chapter 105
Chapter 105
That oath… was vicious enough.
Jiang Li suppressed the doubts in her heart and pushed the Service Cart full of large sea crabs out.
She arrived in the corridor and paid special attention to the trash on the floor.
There were all kinds of food scraps.
But there was one thing she didn’t see.
Seafood.
Whether it was crab shells, shrimp shells, or fish bones, none were visible.
“Waiter! Is it ready yet?! Please hurry up, thank you!”
The Guest of Room 404 continued to urge her politely.
Jiang Li’s movements in pushing the cart gradually slowed down.
A suspicion began to form in Jiang Li’s mind.
“Sir, do you have any dietary restrictions?” Jiang Li shouted loudly toward Room 404.
A second later.
The man’s voice came back, “I don’t like seafood, thank you!”
Jiang Li was startled.
As expected.
This cart of prepared seafood was a trap!
Jiang Li abandoned the Service Cart and immediately ran into the Buffet Area.
The Cook hadn’t lied.
He was technically correct.
The Guest of Room 404 was not allergic to seafood.
However, “being allergic” and “liking it” were two completely different things!
If Jiang Li had delivered that cart of sea crabs, her hopes of getting a Positive Review would have gone up in smoke!
It might have even made the guest angry, leading to a violation of the Waiter Rules.
This Cook’s heart was truly malicious.
Jiang Li didn’t have time to worry about much else.
She grabbed every piece of food she could reach-as long as it wasn’t seafood-and piled it onto the Service Cart.
Before long, the cart was full.
Jiang Li hurriedly pushed the Service Cart out.
She walked quickly to the door of Room 404.
The door to Room 404 had been left open.
The man was sitting in the entryway, gnawing on his fingers from hunger, waiting expectantly.
“Sir, your meal.”
Jiang Li placed the Service Cart at the door.
The man from Room 404 extended his fatty fingers, grabbed the food off the cart, and stuffed it directly into his mouth.
He seemed to swallow it without chewing at all.
The man finished eating in large gulps and then started gnawing on his fingers again.
“Another cart, please. Thank you.”
Jiang Li nodded in response. “Certainly, sir. Please wait a moment.”
Jiang Li pushed the empty Service Cart back toward the Buffet Area.
However, when she returned, she felt the Cook’s resentful gaze.
“What, my words aren’t trustworthy? You had to ask that Fatty separately?”
The Cook’s tone was dripping with sarcasm.
Jiang Li was busy selecting food and had no time to deal with him.
The Cook had just tried to frame her, and she hadn’t even settled that score yet.
Instead, he had the nerve to turn it around on her.
Jiang Li glanced at the Cook.
She noticed he had stopped chopping vegetables and was holding his knife, staring blankly at her with a glare.
“Waiter, I’m starving! Please hurry, thank you!”
The man started urging her again.
Jiang Li had no choice but to look away, quickly select the food, and deliver another cart.
This time, the guest in Room 404 finished it just as quickly.
“Another cart, please!”
Jiang Li continued for a third trip, a fourth, a fifth…
Eventually.
Except for the seafood, the food in the Buffet Area had been completely cleared out.
Jiang Li scraped the plates clean and managed to pick out half a cart’s worth of food.
There was absolutely nothing left in the Buffet Area.
Jiang Li pushed the cart over.
But when the man from Room 404 saw how little food there was, his face immediately fell.
“Only this much this time?” the man complained.
Jiang Li bit the bullet and nodded. “Yes, sir.”
There was nothing Jiang Li could do.
That guy in the Kitchen seemed upset because Jiang Li’s shout to the guest had exposed his scheme.
Now, the Cook was lying on a small rocking chair in the Kitchen, completely slacking off.
He kept muttering curses at Jiang Li.
“Tsk, tsk, tsk. Since you don’t trust me that much, I don’t feel like cooking anymore.”
“If he eats something bad and gets an upset stomach, that certain someone will think I did it on purpose. He might even turn around and report me.”
“I’m just not going to cook. Once he’s eaten all the food, I’ll see what you do then!”
Jiang Li hadn’t expected to offend that petty Cook.
She was still reflecting on what had just happened when the man from Room 404 finished licking the very last plate clean.
“I want more. So hungry…” The man from Room 404 looked at Jiang Li with greedy eyes.
“I want to gnaw on some bones.”
The man reached out, his thick, fleshy fingers pointing directly at Jiang Li.
Rule 1 of Floor 4:
[Guest of Room 404 likes to eat. When he asks for food, do not refuse him.]
Jiang Li’s heart jolted.
Was the food… herself?
She remembered the animal skeletons she had seen when she first stepped onto this floor.
Then, it clicked.
Bones that large were clearly human remains!
This Guest of Room 404 was a lunatic.
If there wasn’t enough food, he would get so hungry that he’d start eating people.
Jiang Li clenched her fists.
If she agreed, she would be gnawed on and eaten; she would die.
If she refused him, she would be breaking the rules; she would still die.
“Is that okay, server? Let me gnaw on some bones.”
The man from Room 404 began to laugh foolishly.
Saliva dripped to the floor, forming long, viscous strings.
Red Infant leaned toward Jiang Li’s ear and whispered, “Mommy, I saw some discarded bones in that pile of trash in the hallway. Let’s go pick them up and feed them to him.”
Jiang Li remained silent for a second before looking back at the man from Room 404.
“Sir, please wait a moment. I’ll go prepare some bones for you right away.”
The man wanted to gnaw on bones, and by answering this way, Jiang Li hadn’t refused him.
Jiang Li finished with a smile and, without waiting for the man to reply, turned the Service Cart around and left.
The man from Room 404 looked a bit disappointed, but he still urged her politely, “Then hurry up, thank you.”
Jiang Li pushed the Service Cart over to the bones in the trash pile.
The meat on the bones had already been gnawed clean.
Only some blackened, foul-smelling tendons remained.
They were crawling with maggots.
Jiang Li thought for a moment but didn’t bend down to pick them up.
Instead, she turned and entered the Buffet Area.
Inside the Kitchen, that petty Cook was already lying in a rocking chair, snoring loudly.
Each snore was louder than the last.
Jiang Li pushed the Service Cart to the Kitchen door.
She hoisted the Cook up and placed him right onto the Service Cart.
“…Huh?” The Cook startled awake from his dream, his eyes fluttering open groggily.
When he realized Jiang Li was moving him, he was shocked into full alertness.
“What are you doing?!” the Cook snapped, enraged.
Seeing this, Jiang Li immediately changed her expression.
“Brother, congratulations!” Jiang Li’s tone became jubilant.
Seeing the Cook’s confusion, Jiang Li smiled and explained, “The guest in Room 404 said the food you made was incredibly delicious! He wants to meet you and write you a Letter of Commendation.”
The Cook looked skeptical. “Really? You’re not lying to me, are you?”
Jiang Li softened her voice. “Brother, what happened earlier was my fault. I’ve been feeling terrible about it. So, when the Guest of Room 404 said he wanted to write me a Letter of Commendation, I recommended you immediately. I told him that you’re the head chef and your cooking is so good that if anyone deserves praise, it’s you.”
Hearing Jiang Li’s sincere attitude-apologizing repeatedly and praising his cooking-the Cook’s expression softened.
“Hmph, it’s just some home-style cooking. I just whipped it up casually.” The Cook tucked his hands behind his back and walked out with a smug look.
He took a few steps into the hallway and noticed Jiang Li hadn’t followed yet.
He turned back impatiently and clicked his tongue at her. “Newbie, what are you standing there for? Get up front and lead the way!”
Hearing this, Jiang Li’s smile widened.
“Right away, Brother. I’ll take you there now.”
