Chapter 82

Everyone silently took Meiya’s words to heart, then took their room cards and headed upstairs.

“Everyone, go back to your rooms and unpack first. There are still ten minutes before mealtime. We’ll meet on the first floor in a bit,” Wei Sen said to the group.

Xu You flashed an OK sign. “No problem, Sister Sen. Be careful staying by yourself. If anything happens, tell us in the group chat.”

“Mm.”

Wei Sen’s room was 310, at the very end of the third-floor corridor. Xu You and Chen Lin happened to be staying directly below her in 210. Lin Xiaoxue and Guo Lan were in 201 near the stairwell on the second floor, while Huang Xinze and Lao Wang were in 205, in the middle of the second floor.

When Wei Sen arrived at her door, she saw Zhong Lingkun, who was also staying alone, enter room 320 across from her.

There had to be a reason this man was a Lone Wolf. She did not believe a fool could survive long enough to have the chance to choose an S-Rank Instance.

So this man could not be underestimated, and she could not afford not to guard against him!

With that thought, Wei Sen withdrew her gaze. What she did not know was that behind the door of 320, Zhong Lingkun watched her through the peephole for a long while with an appraising look.

Wei Sen opened her door. The room had the warm, cozy style of a guesthouse, with wooden beds, a wooden table and chairs, and deep blue curtains.

There was also a small balcony outside. It was not spacious, but it fit two wicker chairs perfectly, likely prepared so guests could enjoy the Aurora at night.

Wei Sen set down her luggage and looked thoughtfully at the two beds.

Meiya knew she was checking in alone, yet she had given her a room card for a double room.

And… ever since entering the inn, she had not seen a single mirror. Not in the room, not even in the bathroom.

Between the two beds stood a dark-brown wooden nightstand. On it were a landline phone and a white card.

Wei Sen walked over and picked up the card. Written on it were the Guest Room Rules:

[Guest Room Rules:

1. Please be sure to lock your door before going to sleep. Wind and snow are common in the forest after nightfall. If you hear any strange noises, there is no need to pay attention to them.

2. After 11:00 p.m., all lights in the room must be turned off to avoid attracting things from the forest!

3. The guest room phone can only connect to the front desk. If you have any needs or questions, you may call the front desk.

4. You may enjoy the Aurora from the balcony, but remember: do not make a wish while watching the Aurora. Otherwise, your wish will come true in a way you absolutely cannot imagine!

5. Since the inn is a wooden structure, the soundproofing is not very good. If you hear footsteps in the middle of the night, there is no need to pay attention to them, no matter where they come from.

6. Meiya is the only employee of this inn. No matter when or where, if you encounter anyone other than Meiya claiming to be an employee of this inn, run away immediately!

7. This inn’s employee working hours are 6:30 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. If you need help outside working hours, you may seek assistance from the innkeeper.]

[Green Team Group Chat (10 people)

Liu Shuang: Has everyone seen the Guest Room Rules?]

Wei Sen checked her watch. This person really was treating himself like the team leader.

[Lin Xiaoxue: Saw them! (excited)

Chen Lin: We saw them too.

Huang Xinze: +1.

Wei Sen: Mm.]

Wei Sen also replied with a single word in agreement. Keeping this man around as cannon fodder was actually perfect.

After finishing her unpacking, Wei Sen went to room 201.

“Who is it?” After she knocked, Guo Lan’s wary voice came from inside.

“It’s me,” Wei Sen said.

Only after hearing it was Wei Sen did Guo Lan open the door.

“Sister Sen, you’re done unpacking?” Lin Xiaoxue also came forward to greet her.

“Mm,” Wei Sen answered, then turned her gaze to Guo Lan. “I came to find you.”
Guo Lan sat down on the edge of the bed and said, “I know. Sit down. I’ll give you a brief explanation.”

“What is it?” Lin Xiaoxue was a little lost, but she still sat down with Wei Sen.

Guo Lan said, “There are many Order Keepers in the Eerie World. No one knows the exact number. And all of these Order Keepers come from two places: one is Dragon Nation, and the other is Civilization City.”

At the mention of Civilization City, Lin Xiaoxue finally understood. So this was about that!

Guo Lan continued, “There are relatively more people from Dragon Nation than from Civilization City, but… everyone from Dragon Nation is a woman, while Civilization City has both men and women.”

Wei Sen’s hand clenched unconsciously.

Everyone from Dragon Nation was a woman!

“Not a single man? Or have you just not run into any yet?”

“Not a single one,” Guo Lan said with certainty.

Wei Sen sucked in a cold breath. Could it be… her guess had been right?

In the world she came from, there really was an enormous secret between men and women!

The “heart” she had taken from Li Chang, along with what Guo Lan had just said, were the best proof!

“Aside from Dragon Nation, are there no Order Keepers from any other countries?” Wei Sen asked.

“No. At present, Order Keepers only come from Dragon Nation and Civilization City.”

Lin Xiaoxue scratched her head, utterly confused. “Why? Why only those two places? And why are there no men from Dragon Nation becoming Order Keepers?”

“No idea. No one can fathom God’s thoughts.”

Wei Sen pressed on. “What about Civilization City, then? What kind of place is it?”

“Civilization City…” Guo Lan hesitated. She took a deep breath and said, “Have you heard of the Antarctic Treaty?”

Wei Sen said, “You mean the Antarctic Treaty signed by dozens of countries more than a century ago? The one that forbids ordinary people from setting foot on the Antarctic continent?”

Guo Lan said, “Yes. We suspect Civilization City is in Antarctica. But we have no way to prove it, because in the Real World, we’re all ordinary people. There’s no way for us to set foot on the Antarctic continent. As for the people from Civilization City, they say the end of their world is the Ice Wall, an Ice Wall that ordinary people there could spend their whole lives trying and still never cross.

“So we can’t get in, and they can’t get out. The exact location of Civilization City can only be inferred. Since our time periods and technology seem to line up, we should be on the same Earth, right? Who knows.”

As Guo Lan spoke, she shrugged and smiled.

“The Ice Wall… It really does sound like Antarctica. With so many Order Keepers in the Eerie World, isn’t there anyone with a higher status? Maybe they might know some of the truth.”

“I haven’t met anyone like that so far. And even if such people exist, those secrets probably wouldn’t be revealed so easily to ordinary people like us.”

Wei Sen fell into thought. Guo Lan had likely been through quite a few Instances, and she had met far more people in the Eerie World than they had. Her words were highly credible.

Civilization City, in Antarctica…

For the past century, speculation about the Antarctic continent had never stopped, but no one had ever truly gone beyond the Ice Wall to see the Antarctic continent for themselves.

If Civilization City really was there, then on the same Earth, there were actually two civilizations…

And there was another strange point: in the Eerie World, everyone was from Dragon Nation, and they had no trouble communicating with the people from Civilization City.

Guo Lan checked her watch, then stood and said, “It’s getting late. Let’s go to the dining hall first.”

Wei Sen nodded and rose.

For now, this was all they could learn. As for anything more, perhaps they would only find out after successfully joining The Organization.
