Chapter 3

Wei Sen let out a cold laugh and sat up.

It looked like Little Red Riding Hood had no intention of leaving tonight unless she managed to “honor” her grandmother straight into the grave!

Perfect…

The Big Bad Wolf had to eat one person every night before it would leave.

She had already guessed as much. Since Little Red Riding Hood came every day to deliver food, then Little Red Riding Hood was naturally the best meal for the Big Bad Wolf.

It was just that, after all, she was supposed to be her granddaughter and the main character of Little Red Riding Hood.

At first, Wei Sen hadn’t been certain she could use her to feed the Wolf. But now, it seemed she was exactly right for the job.

As the saying went, better someone else die than me. Since this someone else had delivered herself right to the door, Wei Sen decided she would gladly accept.

“All right. What game does Little Red Riding Hood want to play?”

Wei Sen looked calmly at the person in front of her. Since rules existed in the Eerie World, then even if Little Red Riding Hood wanted her dead, she couldn’t simply attack her directly like the Big Bad Wolf.

Playing a game was probably one of Little Red Riding Hood’s methods.

But as long as it was a game, there had to be winners and losers.

To Wei Sen, where there was victory and defeat, there was opportunity.

Little Red Riding Hood sat cross-legged on the floor, her shoulders shaking as she laughed. “Grandma, let’s play Guess True or False!”

“What are the rules?”

“Each of us says one statement, something that can be verified on the spot. Then the other person guesses whether it’s true or false. The first person to guess correctly three times wins. And the loser… has to eat this apple pie. Okay?”

Although the method had changed, the goal was still to make her eat the apple pie.

Wei Sen glanced at the brightly colored apple pie and gave a slight nod. “Fine. You go first.”

Little Red Riding Hood propped up her head and thought for a moment. Then she looked toward the bamboo basket beside the cupboard and said, “There isn’t anything in my basket now!”

“False!” Wei Sen answered at once.

She had noticed it while Little Red Riding Hood was still at the door. Her bamboo basket had been heavy. It couldn’t possibly have held only one apple pie, unless that apple pie was made of iron.

“Wow! Grandma is even smarter than I thought!” As Little Red Riding Hood spoke, she brought the bamboo basket over, lifted the floral cloth covering it right in front of Wei Sen, and pulled out a rusty axe. The axe was also stained with blood.

“Grandma guessed right. There’s still a… Blood-stained Axe in my bamboo basket!” Little Red Riding Hood deliberately waved the axe in front of Wei Sen.

Wei Sen’s gaze darkened. Little Red Riding Hood had intentionally given her a point so she could take out that Blood-stained Axe and scare her.

Unfortunately, Wei Sen couldn’t feel even the slightest trace of fear.

“My turn,” Wei Sen said flatly.

“Okay, Grandma.”

Wei Sen lowered her eyes in thought. How could she increase her odds of winning?

This was her first day being Grandma, but this was not Little Red Riding Hood’s first day being Little Red Riding Hood. Little Red Riding Hood might know everything about Grandma, which was exactly why she had suggested this game.

If the truth of the answer had to be verified immediately, then whatever they said would basically have to be related to themselves or something inside the house.

What could she say that Little Red Riding Hood wouldn’t be able to guess correctly?

Wei Sen thought briefly, then said, “I’ve already died once.”

Little Red Riding Hood froze visibly. Then she clutched her stomach and let out a giggling laugh. The shadow of the Red Hoodie swayed left and right across the wall, like a Wolf baring its fangs and claws.

“False, Grandma!” Little Red Riding Hood said with certainty.

“Is that so? How are you sure I’m lying?” Wei Sen asked in return.

Little Red Riding Hood said with exaggerated seriousness, “Everyone can only die once. But if someone died and then came back to life, has Grandma ever considered that maybe she hasn’t just died once, but has already died any number of times?”

A flicker of unnaturalness crossed Wei Sen’s face.

The reason she had chosen to say that was precisely to pry more information out of Little Red Riding Hood.

Sure enough…

The corpse hanging in the living room when she woke up had been no one else.

It had been her!

Just as Little Red Riding Hood said, she hadn’t died only once. She had died any number of times. It was just that each time, she forgot everything that had happened before…

If that was true, then who knew how long she had already been trapped in this Eerie World!
The Identity Rules, written in that hurried, scrawled handwriting, had probably been left behind by the previous “her” as well.

Every single line was a rule the previous “her” had tested with her life.

“Grandmother, am I right? And how are you going to prove whether what you said is true or false?” Little Red Riding Hood leaned her face a little closer to Wei Sen, and a wave of cold air rushed over her.

Wei Sen lifted her lips in a faint smile. “You guessed right. I lied. I’m standing here alive and well in front of you, so how could I have already died once? That’s the best proof there is.”

“Heeheehee, all right.” Little Red Riding Hood shrugged and continued, “Then it’s my turn again.”

After thinking for a moment, Little Red Riding Hood said, “On my way here, I ran into Uncle Hunter, and… I gouged out both his eyes.”

Wei Sen’s pupils trembled slightly.

As expected of Dark Fairy Tale. This Little Red Riding Hood was far too vicious.

Her hands were stained with blood, and there was blood on the axe too. Clearly, she had been through something extremely bloody.

But she said she had gouged out the Hunter’s eyes. Why would she gouge out the Hunter’s eyes?

Everything had a motive. The same was true in an Eerie World Instance.

Even if the Little Red Riding Hood before her was an Eerie Entity, there had to be a reason for gouging out the Hunter’s eyes.

But whether the Hunter and Little Red Riding Hood were Eerie Entities or players was still in doubt, making it difficult to determine exactly why Little Red Riding Hood would do such a thing.

Then working backward, “the Hunter’s eyes”-whether the Hunter was an Eerie Entity or a player, his eyes were only an ordinary pair of eyes. Obtaining them did not seem to serve any purpose.

Unless Little Red Riding Hood was an Eerie Entity with a habit of eating human eyes, or a hobby of gouging them out. But at present, neither the Identity Rules she had obtained nor the corpse of The Other Self that she had dealt with that afternoon could confirm this.

So…

“False!” Wei Sen declared with certainty after thinking it through.

Little Red Riding Hood clapped. “Grandmother, you actually guessed that right. I took a detour today and didn’t run into Uncle Hunter.”

“It’s 2:1 now.” Wei Sen lowered her eyes in thought. If the blood on the axe didn’t belong to the Hunter, then whose was it?

“I’m looking forward to Grandmother’s next question.” Little Red Riding Hood’s tone grew a little heavier.

Wei Sen looked solemnly at the red face before her and slowly said, “You and I are people from the same world.”

Little Red Riding Hood jerked her head up. It was hard to read any emotion from that red face, but faintly, Wei Sen could see her body trembling, as if she had learned something utterly shocking.

She tested the words carefully. “True?”

Wei Sen narrowed her eyes. The Little Red Riding Hood in front of her was just like Wei Sen herself-a person thrown into an Eerie World Instance.

Perhaps Little Red Riding Hood had only thought she was an NPC who would revive no matter how many times she died. And at first, Wei Sen had also thought Little Red Riding Hood was an Eerie Entity in the Instance. But now it seemed they were both players in this Instance.

“True,” Wei Sen said. “It’s 2:2. You have one last chance, or you can stop the game.”

Since they were both players, perhaps they could cooperate? Wei Sen thought.

“Heh… hehe…” Little Red Riding Hood lowered her head dejectedly. “So that’s how it is. So that’s it… What a shame. Once the game begins, it can’t be stopped.”

Whether Little Red Riding Hood was a player or not, the game had already begun. Their positions were clearly opposed. Only one of them could survive.

Wei Sen frowned. “Then… let’s continue.”

Little Red Riding Hood looked at the apple pie gleaming brilliantly in the firelight, her tone exceptionally gentle. “This slice of apple pie isn’t poisoned.”

“Grandmother, guess whether that sentence is true or false.”

Wei Sen’s gaze fell on the apple pie. Its bright color made it look sweet and delicious, as if one bite would let her taste sugary jam spreading across her tongue.

But…

Without letting anything show, Wei Sen looked at Little Red Riding Hood in front of her.

Why would she ask a question with such an obvious answer?
