Chapter 49

“You know what this is!” Wei Sen stepped forward and pressed CC for answers.

CC’s expression turned cold. She stared at Wei Sen and said, “So you dared bring it here without knowing anything about it?!”

With that, she took a gray metallic box from the cabinet. It was filled with objects identical to the little black sphere Wei Sen had brought.

Wei Sen took a rough glance. There were at least seven or eight of them.

Without another word, CC placed the small sphere into the box, then snapped the lid shut.

“What’s going on? What do you mean, Level One Alert?” Xu You stepped forward and asked.

Lin Xiaoxue and Chen Lin had also tensed up, their earlier leisure completely gone.

CC swept her gaze over them, hugged the metal box to her chest, and headed for the door. In a tone that brooked no argument, she said, “All of you, come with me!”

The group exchanged looks, then all turned their eyes to Wei Sen.

“Sister Sen, what do we do now?” Lin Xiaoxue asked.

Wei Sen thought for a brief second, then said, “Follow her.”

“Okay!”

The others quickly left the room as well.

By then, red lights were flashing in the corridor too, as if some disaster might strike in the very next second.

They saw the doors that had been tightly shut before opening one after another. In every room was a bartender dressed in a tailcoat like CC, along with several guests.

What was truly baffling was that all of the guests were women, and among the bartenders, they saw only two or three men.

“Stay close!” CC wove through the crowd, not forgetting to look back at Wei Sen and the others.

Everyone followed the bartenders at the front toward a staircase in the opposite direction from the way they had come.

Wei Sen’s group followed CC down the stairs and out through the tavern’s back door.

A bus was parked by the roadside, as if it had been waiting there specifically for this sort of situation.

The other guests and bartenders boarded the bus, but CC got into the driver’s seat of a black business van.

Seeing this, Wei Sen and the others exchanged nods, then quickly climbed into the van as well.

CC stepped on the gas, and the entire vehicle shot forward.

“Your tavern isn’t in the flesh trade, is it?” Xu You voiced the suspicion in her heart from inside the car.

Through the rearview mirror, Wei Sen clearly saw the corner of CC’s mouth twitch.

But honestly, that scene just now really had looked like some den getting busted for prostitution.

Thinking this, Wei Sen looked at the woman in the rearview mirror and said, “You owe us an explanation.”

CC gripped the steering wheel. “That thing you had just now. Where did it come from?”

“It was my husband’s.”

“You!” CC sounded as if she had heard something utterly shocking. “How did you get it out?!”

“While it was still warm.” Wei Sen watched the subtle changes in CC’s expression through the rearview mirror.

This woman knew a lot.

And CC also saw the icy indifference in Wei Sen’s eyes. “It really has been a long time since I met someone like you.”

“Like what?” Wei Sen crossed her arms and leaned back against the seat.

CC did not answer. Instead, she thought back to the first group of Order Keepers she had met when she had just become a Guide.

Among them, there had also been someone very much like Wei Sen today.

Whether it was the way she spoke or the attitude with which she did things…

Unfortunately, in the end, she had died in a C-rank Instance of the lowest difficulty.

After driving through Jingdu for half an hour, the black business van finally stopped by the side of a road.

“You can go,” CC said.

Xu You leaned forward and looked at the person in the driver’s seat. “You had us follow you just so you could dump us in this godforsaken place?”

“At least it’s safe. They won’t find you here,” CC said.
“Who are they?” Chen Lin asked, confused.

“I’ll give you a simple rundown. I am your Guide. Right now, you’re only Order Keepers, but you don’t count as members of The Organization.

“Only Order Keepers who perform exceptionally well are accepted by The Organization, so for now, you’re not qualified to know more.

“But there is one thing I need to emphasize again: do not let anyone who isn’t an Order Keeper know anything about the Eerie World or the base!”

“Then what about our rewards?” Lin Xiaoxue held out her hand.

CC took four envelopes from inside her coat and handed them to Lin Xiaoxue, urging impatiently, “Hurry up and get out.”

She opened the electric door. Chen Lin, who was sitting by the outside, got out first, followed by Lin Xiaoxue and Xu You.

“You still haven’t given me an answer.” Wei Sen remained seated, unmoving.

CC looked at her and curled her lips into a smile. “An answer? Survive your next Instance and come back. Then I’ll tell you.”

“Fine.” Wei Sen didn’t care how many more Instances she had to go through. As long as she could inch closer to the truth, that was enough. “What about my item? Isn’t it time you returned it to me?”

At that, CC’s expression turned grave. She glanced out of the corner of her eye at the people outside the vehicle, then lowered her voice and asked, “You killed him?”

“Mm.”

“Why?”

The corners of Wei Sen’s lips lifted in the faintest arc. “I’ll tell you after I clear the next Instance.”

CC laughed out of anger. “Very good. Wei Sen, was it? Our first meeting, and you’ve already destroyed an entire base single-handedly. I’ll remember you.”

“So, my item?”

“I’ll hold on to it for now.”

Wei Sen thought for a moment.

That thing might truly be dangerous. The instant CC saw it, she immediately triggered a Level One Alert, and all the Order Keepers in the entire base evacuated at once, as if they were avoiding something.

On top of that, CC had specifically placed it inside a metal box.

“Can it be tracked?” Wei Sen asked.

A flicker of surprise flashed through CC’s eyes.

Was this woman really a newcomer?!

Her mind worked fast, and her powers of observation and deduction were impressive as well.

Wei Sen read CC’s expression. It seemed she had guessed correctly.

The thing taken out of Li Chang’s body actually had a tracking function.

Someone had been watching Li Chang-or rather, watching the thing inside his body. Once they discovered anything abnormal, they would take action.

With that thought, Wei Sen got out as well. “One more thing. How do we enter the Instance World?”

“At four in the morning, the Gate of Xuanpin will open. Just be asleep before then.”

“What if we aren’t asleep at that time?”

“Then wait until the next four in the morning.”

CC drove the business van away, leaving Wei Sen and the others by the roadside.

The streetlights shone down on them. Everything around them was desolate, and there were barely any cars passing on the road.

“It’s the middle of the damn night. How’re we supposed to get back?” Xu You looked at the others.

Wei Sen gazed in the direction CC had left, silently pondering.

If they fell asleep at four in the morning, they could enter the Eerie World. If they didn’t want to enter the Eerie World, they simply had to stay awake at that time.

In other words, whether or not they entered the Eerie World was something they could decide for themselves.

But only by entering the Eerie World and challenging Instances could they increase their Merit Points, and only with enough Merit Points could they see that “God” who could grant anything again.

Everyone would probably try even harder to enter the Instance World. Otherwise, they would have refused “God’s” invitation when the Trial Stage ended.

“Let’s look at these first.” Lin Xiaoxue handed out the envelopes according to the names on them.

These were their Clearance Rewards!
