Chapter 110

Lin Ze was silent for a long time before saying coldly, “That is my private business. You have no right to ask.”

Wei Sen did not press him further. In her mind, she began sorting through the information Lin Ze had just given her.

So the Eerie World did not only have “God.” It also had “the Sovereign.”

God and the Sovereign seemed to exist as one righteous and one evil force.

But if God could create rules to protect Order Keepers, why couldn’t He stop Eerie Entities from killing people?

It almost seemed as if… the existence of rules was also God’s indirect way of allowing Eerie Humans to hunt Order Keepers under certain conditions.

Then there was the classification of the Eerie World’s residents.

Chaos Bodies were the ordinary native residents of the Eerie World and possessed no aggression.

Eerie Shadows often appeared alongside a Contamination Source. Some were aggressive, and they did not obey either God or the Sovereign.

Eerie Humans were extremely dangerous, obeyed the Sovereign, and their main purpose was to hunt Order Keepers.

“Oh, right. Let me tell you one more thing.” Lin Ze looked at Wei Sen, who had her head lowered in thought.

“There are only two circumstances in which Eerie Humans hunt Order Keepers.

“First, when an Order Keeper breaks the rules.

“Second, when the Red Door descends.

“So as long as you don’t break the rules and the Red Door hasn’t descended, Eerie Humans won’t attack Order Keepers.”

Hearing this, Wei Sen began to recall.

In her first Instance, Dark Fairy Tale, the Big Bad Wolf, the Hunter, the Witch, and Mother could all have killed her even when she had not broken any rules. That meant their identities were Eerie Shadows.

Back then, in Grandmother’s house, the Contamination Source had been the mirror, but the range of that Contamination was tiny. It had only affected the people inside that house.

Then what was the true Contamination Source that had caused the Eerie Shadows to appear?

Wei Sen’s pupils constricted. Could it be… the real Little Red Riding Hood?

If the real Little Red Riding Hood were killed, would all the Eerie Shadows disappear?!

Unfortunately, there was no longer any chance to verify who Dark Fairy Tale’s true Contamination Source had been.

Her second Instance was Zhihui Primary School.

The Eerie Entities who had killed Order Keepers that broke the rules included the cafeteria lady, the principal, Wang Hua, Sun Qiang, and Guo Xiaolan. They were all Eerie Humans!

And the Contamination Source at Zhihui Primary School was… Yu Ming’s corpse?

Wei Sen was not entirely sure, but the Yu Ming they had seen seemed to fit an Eerie Shadow more closely.

Her third Instance was Infinite Flight. There had been no Eerie Humans inside!

All of the passengers had been… Chaos Bodies!

As for the current Instance, Snowy Night Traveler, Lili was definitely an Eerie Human. The Skeleton Monster’s behavior was more like that of an Eerie Shadow, while the villagers were Chaos Bodies.

Meiya… could not possibly be an Eerie Human. Her identity should be either an Eerie Shadow or a Chaos Body.

Wei Sen stood inside the balcony door, her pensive face reflected in the glass.

Suddenly, two rapidly moving figures appeared in her field of vision.

Someone had left the inn!

A man and a woman were running straight toward the forest!

Surprised, Wei Sen opened the glass door and stepped onto the balcony, her gaze locked on the two backs racing toward the forest.

Could people from another team have also learned from the village doctor that they could leave the Instance on Aurora Night?

Leaving the Instance could only mean the descent of the Red Door, so those two were heading south of the forest to look for the Red Door!

But it was still uncertain whether the village doctor’s words could be trusted. And if the Red Door really did appear, wouldn’t that also mean Eerie Humans could hunt freely?

“What happened?” Lin Ze walked over from behind her and also saw the two figures in the snow.

“The village doctor said that on Aurora Night, if we run south through the forest, we’ll be able to find a way out.”

Hearing this, Lin Ze opened a map-like function on his Watch to check. The map showed a red dot flashing south of the forest.

Wei Sen saw it clearly from beside him. His Watch actually had other hidden functions!

“Is this also a Clearance Reward from an SSS-Rank Instance?”

“Mm.”

Just how many SSS-Rank Instances had this man cleared…?

Since the Anomalous Artifact scanning function could be shared, this positioning function should be shareable too, right?

Wei Sen had some thoughts, but now was not a good time to bring them up.

“That red dot-is it the Red Door?” she asked.

“Mm.”

Wei Sen looked toward the backs of those two people.

It seemed the way out the village doctor had mentioned was viable. But there was only one red dot on the map, which meant there was only one Red Door.

In the Eerie World, one Red Door could only let one person leave!

Of those two, someone was destined to die on Aurora Night. It might be one of them. It might be both of them.
In the night sky, the Aurora blazed in dazzling colors.

In the forest, the wind and snow raged.

Lin Ze drew in a deep breath of cold air and lifted his eyes to the night sky.

Since he had already made his wish, he could look straight at the Aurora without fear.

He had not seen an Aurora in so many years. Seeing it again now felt like a lifetime had passed.

The scenery was the same, but the people were no longer the same.

As the thought crossed his mind, his gaze drifted unconsciously toward Wei Sen beside him.

Wei Sen was looking in the direction where the two figures had disappeared, but from the corner of her eye, she also noticed Lin Ze watching her.

“What? Don’t tell me you made another wish,” Wei Sen said, snapping her gaze toward him.

“I don’t have that many wishes.” Lin Ze looked away.

His only wish was Ningning.

“What about you? You didn’t make one?” Lin Ze asked in return.

“No.”

The moment Wei Sen finished speaking, a flash of white appeared in their field of vision.

“Look!”

At Wei Sen’s warning, Lin Ze focused his gaze as well.

A white figure shot out of the inn at incredible speed. Her black hair dragged along the ground, and she wore a long white dress. Her entire body crawled flat against the floor, her hands supporting her light, fluttering frame as she raced after the man and woman.

“That’s the Faceless Woman’s true form,” Wei Sen said, retreating back into the room.

After the Faceless Woman finished hunting down the Order Keeper members who had tried to leave through the Red Door, they would probably be next.

Lin Ze also returned to the room and quietly shut the balcony door. “Do you think they can survive?”

“They can! For three seconds.” As Wei Sen spoke, she opened the member list of the Watch Main Group.

Three, two, one.

Three seconds later, two more names in the main group dimmed.

Immediately afterward, Wei Sen sent a message to the group.

[Wei Sen: The Faceless Woman has started hunting. Everyone, be careful.]

Wei Sen deliberately avoided mentioning the Aurora’s appearance, in case someone else, like Lin Ze, unconsciously made a wish.

///Ding~ Congratulations, Host, on completing a Good Deed: sharing clues and warning others. Merit Points +50! Current accumulated Merit Points: 6,180. Available Merit Points: 980!///

Not bad. Sharing information about the Red Door and warning multiple people at once gave a fairly decent amount of Merit Points.

After sending the message, Wei Sen silently lifted the Ghost Axe from beside the bed and stood ready.

A hint of confusion colored Lin Ze’s eyes.

He truly could not understand this person.

She seemed utterly indifferent to the life and death of other Order Keeper members, yet she also seemed to keep doing good deeds, always generously sharing every clue she knew.

Before long, the sound of fingernails scraping across the floor came from outside the door, and the lights in the room began to flicker.

“Are you hiding? Are you all hiding? Hee hee hee…”

The Faceless Woman’s ethereal laughter drifted through the hallway.

“Where’s your Anomalous Artifact?” Wei Sen asked, looking at Lin Ze’s empty hands.

Lin Ze looked at the Ghost Axe in her hand. “Yours is enough.”

Wei Sen was speechless.

Still, she did not seem to have seen him carrying any Anomalous Artifacts on him. So where were his Anomalous Artifacts?

Could he also have a System Space for storing Anomalous Artifacts?

[Does anyone else in the Eerie World have a System?] Wei Sen asked in her mind.

///Ding~ Host is the one and only person in this Eerie World who has a System!///

[Does the Watch have a storage function?]

///Ding~ That is something Host will need to explore on her own!///

…

Clearing an SSS-Rank Instance could grant the Watch new functions, so getting a storage function would not be strange, right?

Wei Sen thought to herself. At that moment, the sound of nails scraping the floor crept closer and closer, heading straight for their room.

It had to be because they had gone up to the fourth floor during the day and pulled Aggro Value. Now the female ghost had come straight to their door.

Wei Sen looked at the specially made salt powder on the floor, hoping it would work.

Otherwise…

The instant the Faceless Woman came in, she would throw the Ghost Axe to Lin Ze!

He had so many Merit Points anyway. Killing one boss should not deduct them all, right?

They were grasshoppers tied to the same rope. If he had the ability, then let him try not making a move.

Lin Ze happened to meet Wei Sen’s gaze. A cunning glint shone in those deep eyes of hers-one look and he knew she was plotting something wicked!

Outside the door, everything suddenly fell silent.

“She’s outside the door,” Lin Ze mouthed.

Wei Sen nodded slightly.

“Aaaah, don’t grab me! Sister Sen! Sister Sen! Save me, please! It caught me! Sob… Sister Sen, help! I don’t want to die, Sister Sen…”

A voice rang out in the corridor again. This time, it was Lin Xiaoxue’s urgent cry for help, thick with sobs and sounding especially pitiful.
