Chapter 60

“Candy, keep an eye on things for a moment,” Wei Sen said, then turned and headed toward the galley at the front of the plane.

Once she reached the galley, Wei Sen took a fruit knife from the cabinet.

If she wanted to avoid breaking the rules, this was the only way.

She rolled up her sleeve, intending to slice flesh from her own arm to feed the passenger who had requested a “meal.”

The cold blade touched her forearm, sending a wave of revulsion through Wei Sen’s entire body.

Just as she was about to begin, a scream suddenly rang out from the cabin.

“Ah!”

Wei Sen looked toward the sound. Around the third row, everything was a bloody mess. Blood dripped from the ceiling, and clumps of wet flesh stuck to the windows.

The one screaming was a man. His face was covered in blood and bits of flesh, while the seat beside him was already empty.

She remembered that the person originally sitting next to him had been a middle-aged woman from Group B. Wei Sen had seen her in the previous round, in the Sunset Tour Group.

Wei Sen’s gaze darkened as she looked over. There was also a bloodstained blanket lying in the aisle.

Under the Passenger Identity Rules: It is normal for the cabin temperature to suddenly drop. You may close the air vent, but try not to ask the crew for a blanket, because you cannot be certain whether that blanket belongs to this airline.

Rule Six of the Flight Attendant Identity Rules: This airline provides free blankets, but supplies are limited. If you discover a passenger using a blanket that does not belong to this airline, destroy it immediately!

Wei Sen had checked the style of the blankets provided by the plane earlier. It was completely different from the bloodstained blanket in the aisle!

That woman had broken the rule. She had used a blanket that did not belong to this airline, and had exploded on the spot!

Thanks to that woman’s timely sacrifice, Wei Sen no longer had to resort to the worst possible method.

Wei Sen took a deep breath. The air was thick with the stench of blood. She had no time to hesitate. She moved to the aisle, picked up the chunks of flesh that were still twitching on the floor, then quickly returned to the woman who had asked her for a “meal.”

“Hello, this is your in-flight meal. Please enjoy,” Wei Sen said, placing the minced flesh on a plate and offering it to the woman.

The woman was very satisfied, as if what lay on that plate was not human flesh but top-grade steak. She took it and immediately began grabbing pieces with her hands and eating.

Faced with this scene, the other passengers did not seem to find it strange at all.

Wei Sen frowned and swept her gaze over the passengers. Did that mean every one of them was an Eerie Entity?

But these people were clearly different from the ones in the Zhihui Primary School Instance.

“How could this happen?”

“It was that flight attendant! She brought her a blanket just now, and then she… exploded into pieces…”

Wei Sen saw the Blonde Woman, the leader of Group B, questioning the man who had already been scared witless.

“Ah Sen, why are your hands so greasy? Do you want to go wash them?” Candy asked.

Wei Sen looked down at her hands. They were clearly covered in blood, but in Candy’s eyes, it was grease?

It seemed there was a certain cognitive gap between their group of Order Keeper and the other passengers on the plane when it came to some things.

This cognitive gap made it hard to determine whether it was a Hidden Rule of the Instance, or whether one side-them or the passengers-had been affected by Contamination from an eerie power from the very beginning.

“I’m going to the restroom,” Wei Sen said.

“Mm, go ahead. Leave this to me,” Candy said with a smile.

Wei Sen headed toward the restroom at the rear of the plane. There was one more thing she needed to take care of along the way.

“Hello,” Wei Sen said when she reached row forty-four, her gaze falling on the mother and her two daughters.

“Is something the matter?” the mother asked, looking at Wei Sen as if she were a complete stranger.

“Ma’am, there are prohibited items in your luggage. Please cooperate with us for an additional Extra Check,” Wei Sen said.

According to the rules, she needed to perform an Extra Check on passengers carrying contraband.

Although the rules did not specify a time limit, every Instance had Hidden Rule conditions. If she delayed the Extra Check for too long, she would definitely end up violating this rule!

However, Wei Sen had no interest in gutting someone open at ten thousand meters in the air, so she deliberately stated where the contraband was. Now it all depended on what the mother and her two daughters chose to do.

“What’s going on? Why should my Xiao Wen have to accept your Extra Check?!” the mother demanded, saying almost exactly the same thing she had the first time.
A flicker of regret passed through Wei Sen’s eyes. If the mother insisted on taking a hard line, then Wei Sen would have no choice but to follow the requirements and take the “little sister” away for an Extra Check.

“Contraband? Wait, I think I remember now!” The older sister in 44F looked as if realization had just struck her.

As she spoke, she stood up, opened the overhead bin, and took out the pink backpack. From inside, she found the strawberry juice.

“Little sister! Look at you! I told you not to bring it, but you wouldn’t listen!” the older sister scolded fondly, then handed the strawberry juice to Wei Sen. “I’m so sorry for causing you trouble.”

“It’s fine.” Wei Sen smiled, took the strawberry juice, and quickly left.

Wei Sen returned to the airplane galley and, according to the rules, placed the strawberry juice in the bottom cabinet on the left side of the galley.

After finishing all of that, Wei Sen immediately went into the restroom.

The airplane restroom was extremely cramped. Wei Sen kept her head lowered to avoid looking at the mirror.

The faucet was a push-button type. She pressed it once, and the water that flowed out was already enough to wash her hands clean.

But the rule said: If someone hands you a prohibited item, you must place the prohibited item in the bottom cabinet on the left side of the galley, then enter the restroom and wash your hands three times. Note: do not look at the mirror while washing your hands.

Wei Sen pressed it a second time, washed her hands, then pressed it a third time.

Only after washing her hands three times did she let out a breath of relief and begin searching.

Although the restroom was tiny, she still couldn’t miss any possible chance to find a clue.

Wei Sen turned to check behind the sink, but out of the corner of her eye, she caught sight of her reflection in the mirror-it hadn’t turned around!

“She” was still in the mirror, staring straight at her!

Wei Sen frowned, but she did not look toward the mirror.

She had to be careful. Curiosity killed the cat!

As long as she didn’t violate the rules, the strange Eerie Entity in the mirror wouldn’t be able to hurt her directly for the time being.

Still, it was best to leave as soon as possible. Otherwise, her mental strength would slowly suffer Contamination.

Wei Sen sped up her search and discovered that there were actually three green buttons beneath the sink.

If she remembered correctly, the Passenger Identity Rules said: In the event of turbulence, please return to your seat immediately and fasten your seat belt.

If you are in the restroom, immediately press the green button. (Note: there is only one green button in the restroom. If you see multiple buttons, choose the oldest one.)

The oldest one…

But these three clearly looked exactly the same!

She was glad she wasn’t a passenger right now. Otherwise, if she were trapped here and forced to choose one out of three, she could only gamble on luck.

Wei Sen searched the restroom thoroughly. She even lifted the toilet lid and inspected it carefully, but still found nothing.

Just as she was about to leave, she stopped again. After thinking for two brief seconds, she resolutely looked at the mirror.

The rule had said not to look at the mirror while washing her hands!

But now, the faucet was off, and the water on her hands had already been wiped dry.

Looking at the mirror was safe!

When Wei Sen turned to face the mirror, there was no longer any figure inside it. Instead, the mirror was filled with dense fog, as if another world existed within it.

From the fog, a finger slowly touched the surface of the mirror. The finger was pale and slender, and it slowly wrote words across the glass:

[The Doom Beast cannot distinguish day from night.]

Wei Sen froze. This clue pointed directly at the mother!

The mother was the only one who had personally told her that the scenery outside the window was beautiful!

In the mother’s eyes, it was daytime outside the window!

Could the mother really be the Doom Beast?!

Wei Sen used her watch to take a photo of the words on the mirror, but for the time being, she had no intention of sharing it with everyone else.

Five hundred Merit Points-how could she just hand them over so easily?

Based on her current deductions, the answer seemed obvious.

But the contradiction was that the Doom Beast hated all things red. If it really was the mother, then how could her ordering a glass of red wine be explained?

Perhaps… she needed to find someone to test it.
