Chapter 57
Chapter 57
Lin Zhengfeng was the man on the motorcycle who had tried to run her over that night.
Although Wen Miao had already had a premonition, she still found it hard to believe when Wen Tangtang actually placed the blood report in front of her.
She couldn’t understand what kind of entanglement a village thug like Lin Zhengfeng could have with a well-behaved boy like Gu Zhishu, who had been hospitalized for years. More importantly, she couldn’t understand why the murderer who killed Gu Zhishu would come after her.
But now that Lin Zhengfeng was dead, all the secrets seemed to be buried with him, becoming an even deeper mystery.
If Nan Mu’s deduction was correct, Gu Zhishu might not have been Lin Zhengfeng’s only victim; he might have killed Su Yu as well. However, while she could at least claim some connection to Gu Zhishu, she didn’t know Su Yu at all.
What link could the three of them possibly share that would make Lin Zhengfeng determined to kill them?
This was something even Wen Miao couldn’t figure out, let alone Nan Mu.
Since returning from Yu Jingtong’s place, Nan Mu had a strong intuition. Gu Zhishu’s death might be related to the misdiagnosis of his brain disease. Was that also the reason Lin Zhengfeng killed him?
But if he followed that line of reasoning, there was one point Nan Mu couldn’t reconcile: how were Su Yu and Wen Miao connected to the misdiagnosis?
Su Yu and Gu Zhishu were close. It wouldn’t be surprising if Su Yu had learned the truth about the misdiagnosis from Gu Zhishu. But what about Wen Miao? Before Gu Zhishu passed away, Wen Miao had only met him twice. Why didn’t Lin Zhengfeng go after Gu Zhishu’s parents, his younger brother, or even other patients in the same ward? Why did he specifically target Wen Miao, who had only seen Gu Zhishu twice?
Things were definitely not as simple as they appeared on the surface.
The brain disease, Gu Zhishu, Su Yu, Wen Miao…
What kind of hidden connection existed between them?
And who killed Lin Zhengfeng? Why did the killer do it? Could it have been Lin Zhengfeng’s accomplice-the person who had deleted Gu Zhishu’s text messages at the hospital?
If so, what was the motive? Was it an internal dispute? Or was it to cover up a secret?
Nan Mu checked the date and realized it was already October 19th. His time was running out. Could he unravel these secrets and find the truth before the 23rd arrived?

The “Lin Zhengfeng Murder Case” caused quite a stir near Lin Family Village. As the ones who reported the crime, Wen Miao and An Zi were also investigated and questioned by the police.
Wen Miao spent the entire day at the police station. However, the police were very tight-lipped, and she wasn’t able to discover any useful leads.
An Zi proved to be reliable, as he didn’t reveal any information about Nan Mu during the investigation.
After leaving the police station, Wen Miao went to the hospital. When she arrived, she saw Nan Mu staring blankly at a business card.
“What are you looking at?”
Nan Mu turned around and, seeing it was Wen Miao, sat up in bed. “Did everything go smoothly?”
He was asking about her time at the police station.
“Yeah. They just asked how we found him, why we went there, what we did after entering, things like that,” Wen Miao summarized briefly before asking again, “What were you looking at just now?”
Nan Mu flipped the card between his fingers before handing it to Wen Miao. “I found this in Lin Zhengfeng’s room.”
Wen Miao raised an eyebrow and took the card to examine it.
The card was made of high-quality material with a solid black background that exuded a sense of understated luxury. Six large characters were embossed in gold on the front: “Wisdom Biotechnology.” On the back were a name and a phone number.
“Huangfu?” Wen Miao read the two characters on the business card. “Why does this name sound like a surname?”
“It’s not a given name; it is a surname.”
Nan Mu took the card back from her hand. “Huangfu Junsheng, the founder of Wisdom Biotechnology. I’ve heard he has deep connections with many well-known political figures in Jing City. He’s a legendary figure in the business world, someone ordinary people would find…”
Nan Mu held the business card up to his eyes. The sunlight hit the card, reflecting a brilliant, shimmering light.
“…harder to meet than reaching the heavens.”
Wen Miao was captivated by the luster of the card in Nan Mu’s hand. Nan Mu flicked his finger, and as the card swayed, the reflected light became even more dazzling.
Wen Miao marveled, “What is this card made of? It actually glows?”
“The card itself is just ordinary cardstock. What’s rare is the coating and the gold powder between the layers-this is genuine gold powder ground from real gold.”
This single business card was truly worth its weight in gold.
It was only after establishing the Nan Huan Group that Nan Mu had the opportunity to be introduced to Huangfu Junsheng and meet him once. At that time, the other man had given him a private business card identical to this one.
They had been introduced by the Director of the Economic and Technological Development Zone. When he received Huangfu Junsheng’s card, someone nearby told him that it contained Huangfu Junsheng’s private contact information.
Huangfu Junsheng rarely gave out his contact details. He only took the initiative to build relationships with young, talented individuals whom he believed would achieve great things in the future. Most other people contacted him through his secretaries; it was said he had as many as eighteen secretaries just to handle his public and private affairs.
Rumor had it that Huangfu Junsheng had only ever commissioned two hundred of these business cards. Considering that by the year he met Nan Mu, more than ten years had passed and he still hadn’t handed out all two hundred, one could see that the claim that Huangfu Junsheng did not give out his card lightly was well-founded.
Furthermore, it was said that the young people he did give his card to all went on to have successful careers, proving that Huangfu Junsheng’s eye for talent was impeccable.
But… why would such a “hard-to-get” business card appear in Lin Zhengfeng’s home?
“Wisdom Biotechnology… what connection could Lin Zhengfeng possibly have with Wisdom Biotechnology?”
“I don’t know.” Nan Mu shook his head, his heart sinking. “Perhaps there’s a relationship between Lin Zhengfeng and Huangfu Junsheng that we don’t know about, or perhaps… this is just a card he picked up somewhere.”
Or rather, Nan Mu hoped this card was just something Lin Zhengfeng had found. Otherwise, if Huangfu Junsheng was also involved in this matter… then the enemy they were facing was far too formidable.
“Who would just pick up a business card off the ground?” Wen Miao didn’t know the depth of Nan Mu’s concern and felt his suggestion was unlikely. “If Lin Zhengfeng knew this card was made with real gold… given his nature, wouldn’t he have scraped the gold powder off to trade for money long ago?”
That was true…
However, he still hoped this matter had nothing to do with Huangfu Junsheng. Even as Nan Mu held onto that hope, he understood very clearly-this might truly involve Huangfu Junsheng. At this moment, he finally connected the thread from Gu Zhishu’s side to Wen Miao’s side.
From Su Yu and Gu Zhishu’s brain diseases to Lin Zhengfeng; from Lin Zhengfeng to Huangfu Junsheng’s Wisdom Biotechnology; from Wisdom Biotechnology to Xu Lei, who worked there; and from Xu Lei to Wen Miao, whom he had murdered…
The threads had finally come together to form a single line.
