Chapter 200
Chapter 200
By the time Weiqing Song pushed open the door, his mind had already conjured Shengsheng Zhou’s horrified expression.
Mm. Wonderful–
“Protect His Highness!!”
The enormous black-and-red face behind the door, complete with two patches of mustache, frightened Weiqing into stepping backward.
Goddamn it. This baby nearly died of fright.
Blades hissed from their sheaths. Just as the guard captain stepped forward, Weiqing suddenly raised a hand. “Wait.”
Why did that little mustache look so familiar?
“Sheng’er?” he called.
Shengsheng hunched her back and raised a pair of confused eyes. She stared at him without speaking.
Weiqing pinched the bridge of his nose against a headache.
“Stand guard outside. No one enters without my order,” he commanded.
He pulled Shengsheng behind him. As the door closed, Weiqing saw the other two people in the room.
If not for his excellent memory allowing him to recognize his other two sisters, he would nearly have ordered someone to throw these two “young entertainers” out.
“Very good,” he said with a cold laugh.
Three disgraces to the family.
At the sound, the Second Princess raised her flushed face. “Huh?”
Then she giggled foolishly. “Hahahaha, hey, you’re back.”
Weiqing frowned at the wine fumes filling the room and prepared to reprimand them.
Then the Second Princess lunged at him like some malformed creature, slapped his backside, and rubbed it hard several times.
Weiqing: “…”
The Second Princess pouted. “Hmm? Something’s wrong.”
The veins on Weiqing’s forehead throbbed. Through clenched teeth, he asked, “What is wrong?”
The Second Princess withdrew her hand in dissatisfaction and accused, “Yunxi, why did you change clothes and lose your whole backside?”
Aggrieved, she sniffled, bent over, and stared at his rear. “Waaah, where did my big backside go? My backside!”
Weiqing took a deep breath and repeated *disgrace to the family* several times.
This creature’s mother was the daughter of a senior statesman. He could not lose his temper. He could not.
Then, in the next instant, the Fifth Princess, who had been sitting obediently, suddenly leaped to her feet with a scream.
“Aaaaaah!!!!!”
Weiqing jumped in fright.
He pulled away the Second Princess, who was still staring at his backside, and walked over. “Little Fifth?! Are you unwell?”
The Fifth Princess’s eyes were as red as a rabbit’s. She planted one foot on a stool and pointed at Weiqing. “Don’t come closer!”
Weiqing stopped.
Holy shit. This was the first time he had heard the Fifth Princess clearly.
“Jack! You jump! I jump!” The Fifth Princess spread her arms, closed her eyes, and shouted in rapture.
Weiqing: “…” Wonderful. Another one had gone insane.
Viewed this way, perhaps Shengsheng was the only normal–
“Love isn’t something you can buy just because you want to!” A deafening song exploded behind him.
Weiqing suffered a critical hit to the back.
A humanoid object sprang onto him at lightning speed and locked both legs around his waist.
“My… damned ribs…” Weiqing sucked in a breath.
“Let me break free and understand–let go of my love~~!” Shengsheng howled, shaking her head wildly.
“Backside! Give me back my backside!” At some point, the Second Princess had burrowed over. With Shengsheng above her, she wrapped both arms tightly around Weiqing’s waist.
The Fifth Princess now stood with both feet on the stool, eyes closed and arms spread, ready to jump backward.
Weiqing could endure no more. “Someone get in here!!!”
Meanwhile, a rumor began circulating among the soldiers who had not accompanied Weiqing Song.
They heard that the troops who had followed the Crown Prince out of the palace that day had received a death order: not one word about what they had witnessed was to leave their mouths.
Naturally, everyone grew curious. What could the soldiers possibly have seen to warrant such an order?
Some guessed that His Highness the Crown Prince had been raising an illegitimate son outside the palace.
Others claimed he had hidden away a peerless beauty in some gilded love nest.
As for the three people at the center of all this gossip–
“Mistress, I heard the Second Princess had someone prepare an enormous bundle of thorny switches this morning,” Cui’er said as she massaged Shengsheng Zhou’s head.
Shengsheng nodded.
She had grabbed the tiger by the backside. Even carrying thorns on her back to beg forgiveness would not save her now.
“What about Fifth Sister?”
Cui’er’s gaze drifted away. “I heard… the Fifth Princess plans to become a nun and spend the rest of her life praying before the Buddha for His Highness the Crown Prince.”
Shengsheng: “Absolutely not!”
Cui’er gave her a complicated look before saying, “Princess… perhaps you should worry about yourself first.”
The sight of the princess before her was almost too pitiful to bear.
Shengsheng was dressed like a farmer from head to toe, with a straw hat perched on her head.
She stared across the endless expanse of golden rice paddies still streaked with green and let her shoulders sag.
True. Of the three of them, the Sixth Princess sentenced to harvest rice was clearly the most deserving of sympathy.
“Still, Princess…” Cui’er approached with a retinue of palace attendants, all of them prepared to furnish Shengsheng with the finest possible resting conditions at a moment’s notice.
Maintaining her dejected posture, Shengsheng tilted her head. “Mm?”
Cui’er leaned close to her ear. “News came from the palace yesterday. Apparently, His Highness the Crown Prince caught someone, flew into a terrible rage, and ordered the Second and Fifth Princesses to come down here tomorrow to collect cow dung.”
Shengsheng: “Pfft! Huh?”
Had Crown Prince Brother caught Yunxi?
A cool breeze swept past, carrying away her exhaustion for a moment. Shengsheng looked up at a sky so unlike the one in modern times, as clean and blue as if it had just been washed.
“You know, harvesting wheat suddenly doesn’t seem so bad.”
“Princess, this is rice. Also, your break is over. It is time to work,” the supervisor Weiqing had sent said expressionlessly.
Shengsheng glanced at the stone-faced supervisor. “You know, this princess is different from everyone else.”
The supervisor did not even twitch an eyebrow.
Shengsheng walked closer. “When this princess is happy, her eyes turn pink. When she is sad, they turn blue.”
The moment his gaze unconsciously shifted toward her eyes, her lips curled into a grin.
“And when my eyes turn completely black–”
“The world is about to end.” She shaped one hand into a gun. “Bang.”
Then she pointed behind him in shock. “Quick, look! What’s that?!”
The supervisor turned.
Shengsheng immediately rose onto her toes and, with lightning speed, tucked the little red flower she had just plucked from between the rocks into his hair.
The supervisor felt only a gust of wind. By the time he realized he had been tricked and turned back in annoyance, the little princess who had deceived him was already harvesting rice with a sickle.
He stood there utterly baffled.
Cui’er and every attendant behind her began shaking violently as they looked at the stern supervisor beside them, a tiny red flower bobbing atop his head.
The man was not prettier than the flower. Fair enough, right?
Shengsheng straightened and wiped away her sweat.
She wondered how things were going for Zhiyu Jiang, and whether everything had gone smoothly.
