Chapter 110
Chapter 110
Why did she smell of dog?
That was an excellent question.
“On the way back… this servant encountered Consort De’s pug…” Shengsheng Zhou struggled to explain.
Fusheng Duan’s smile deepened, though he did not challenge her. “Take it off.”
Shengsheng’s eyes shifted.
*Did I hear wrong? Take it off? Here?*
She met his gaze and found him perfectly serious, without any trace of joking.
“Your Highness… Here might not be appropriate.” Shengsheng moved her fingers uneasily.
*What a joke! Siran Ming only hugged me for a few seconds. Do you have a dog’s nose?*
Oh. So he had hugged her.
“Miss Jiang’s mother seems to remain in prison.” As though suddenly recalling something insignificant, Fusheng tilted his head and mentioned it casually.
Shengsheng pressed her lips together, took the cloth used to block light, and covered the birdcage. Then she silently began undoing her sash.
When only a white inner robe remained, Shengsheng looked at Fusheng, still leaning against the pillar.
He apparently did not intend to force her to strip completely. After ordering a fresh outfit delivered to the outer room, he sent Shengsheng to change.
It seemed he merely disliked clothes carrying another person’s scent.
When Shengsheng emerged, the garments discarded on the floor were gone. She had no idea where someone had taken them.
Fusheng had left his previous position and now stood by the window, looking at something unknown.
Hearing footsteps, he turned and beckoned to Shengsheng.
She approached. He caught her wrist and pulled her into his arms. Bending to rest his chin on her shoulder, Fusheng used his other hand to hold her chin and turn her head for a kiss.
The position made a deep kiss difficult, so he guided Shengsheng into extending her tongue first.
Shengsheng’s mind went blank. Compared with Fusheng, who had only known how to gnaw at first, she had to admire his ability to learn. After only a few attempts, his technique had improved by leaps and bounds.
As Shengsheng relaxed, Fusheng released her wrist. She unconsciously clutched the fabric over his chest and moved closer.
The next instant, the entranced Shengsheng felt a chill down her spine. Fusheng pushed her gently aside, and she watched a sword fly toward his head. Had he not dodged in time, it would have sliced away half his skull.
Shengsheng had no idea where it came from. Her first reaction was to examine the top of Fusheng’s head.
*Thank goodness. His hair wasn’t cut. I don’t want to kiss a bald man.*
Fusheng fell silent.
“The Yong emperor is lurking inside the Zhu Kingdom’s palace. I wonder what he intends?” Fusheng calmly straightened the robes wrinkled moments earlier and even leisurely wiped the corner of his mouth.
The gesture drove the already red-eyed man’s emotions into greater violence.
Without hesitation, Siran lunged at Fusheng with his sword. The two began fighting the next instant.
Shengsheng stared in amazement. Hadn’t Siran left? When had he returned?
No, more importantly–
How had he entered?
That sword had clearly stabbed through the window. In the blink of an eye, Siran was inside.
He had hidden himself impressively well.
Standing aside to “watch the show,” Shengsheng had no thought of stopping the fight.
What a joke. Blades had no eyes. It would be no fun if she were accidentally injured.
Shengsheng Zhou planned to wait until the two men had nearly finished fighting, assess their moods, then decide whether to intervene.
Siran Ming was clearly mad with rage. Barring surprises, he had seen her kissing Fusheng Duan.
While defending against the frenzied Siran, who attacked as if heedless of his own life, Fusheng thought that the heartless little creature watching the excitement from the side had no conscience.
What puzzled him most was Siran’s amnesia. Fusheng knew about it, but martial arts were the body’s instinct. They should not have deteriorated like this.
This desperate ferocity hardly matched the skill of a man called the God of War. Fusheng had fought Siran before, and they had barely managed a draw.
Now, however, their exchange clearly resembled Fusheng toying with him.
Siran evidently realized this too. His emotions gradually cooled, but the killing intent in his eyes did not diminish.
*Sigh. Would Little Ming stop if I rushed over and kissed him now? My legs are getting sore from standing.* Shengsheng’s eyes hurt from watching, so her bored thoughts wandered.
The two men, who had been fighting fiercely enough to demolish Fusheng’s bedchamber, abruptly stopped and looked at Shengsheng in unison.
Shengsheng stared back.
Perhaps it was her imagination, but anger had entered Fusheng’s previously calm gaze. Siran simply walked straight toward her.
Fusheng remained where he was, watching coldly.
Shengsheng inexplicably began to panic.
“Shengsheng, do you like this creature who’s neither man nor woman?”
Siran came before her trailing murderous energy. A fresh cut marked his right cheek. His deep eyes held grief and faint expectation, as though desperately awaiting her answer.
Shengsheng glanced at Fusheng, who stared darkly toward them. Normally, the man exuded languor even while standing, but now his spine was unusually straight. He too seemed to await her answer.
Strictly speaking, what both Siran and Fusheng wanted to hear were her true thoughts.
Shengsheng wiped the blood from Siran’s face. He caught her hand, and a cold voice sounded behind her. “Release her.”
Without looking back, Siran stared stubbornly at Shengsheng. Startled by his gaze, she chose her words. “Little Ming, go back for now. We’ll discuss this later.”
Siran tightened his grip and asked softly, “Then I’ll phrase it differently. Between him and me, whom do you like more?”
Shengsheng fell silent. The question had become even deadlier.
Fusheng also found it interesting. He approached and caught Shengsheng’s other arm.
Caught between them, one man gripping each arm, Shengsheng remained outwardly calm.
Inside, she was already wailing. She looked left, then right, unwilling to offend either.
At that moment, a man’s voice sounded outside. “Your Highness! This subject has come to save you!”
Shengsheng’s brow moved. Come to think of it, when the two men began fighting and the hall rang with crashes, she seemed to have heard someone shout about an assassin.
The door was kicked open in haste. However unwilling, Siran had to leave.
Before departing, he yanked Shengsheng’s hand, forcing her to fall toward him. Then he lowered his head and kissed–
a beautiful hand.
