Chapter 129
Chapter 129
Shengsheng Zhou found something very strange.
By rights, the enormous City Lord’s Residence should have contained many maids and manservants.
Yet after spending several days here, she had seen only the same few people coming and going.
Most importantly–
The City Lord himself did nothing every day except eat and sleep. He remained idle from morning to night.
Shengsheng had never even seen him step outside the courtyard gate.
Something was definitely wrong. It made her wonder whether her identity had been exposed and she was being tested.
“City Lord, I borrowed the courtyard kitchen to make some pastries. They may not taste as good as the cook’s, but I hope you’ll accept them.” Shengsheng set the still-steaming tray on a small table nearby and looked shyly at the man.
Her face was shy, yet as she gazed at the reclining man with his collar in disarray, exposing a broad expanse of chest and exquisite collarbones, a hungry wolf’s gleam faintly shone in her eyes.
Goodness, how sexy.
At her words, Fusheng Duan set down the letter in his hand and raised his eyelids to look at her. White powder had somehow smudged her forehead and even dusted her lashes, which fluttered like little fans. The red mole beneath her eye peeked in and out of sight, making her look innocently adorable.
Fusheng wondered why he had never noticed before that Shengsheng’s appearance suited his tastes so perfectly.
“Thank you for going to the trouble.” His eyes smiled and his tone was utterly sincere. He slowly raised one hand from the stack of letters, only for its edge to “accidentally” cut him.
Crimson liquid slowly ran down his slender, jade-white finger. The wound was not deep, but it was long, cutting across nearly the entire finger and looking rather frightening.
Shengsheng cried out, “City Lord, how could you be so careless!”
She hurriedly took out her handkerchief and bent over to bandage him. Her face happened to angle toward his chest, and her gaze discreetly traveled down through his wide-open collar.
The smile in Fusheng’s eyes grew more sincere. His arm naturally encircled her slender waist “in case” she accidentally fell.
When Shengsheng finished the bandage and tried to withdraw, she discovered that he had already wrapped her entire body in his embrace.
She looked at him with eyes like spring water, feigned shyness, lowered her head, and pushed him. “City Lord… let me go~”
Fine. Her own performance gave her goose bumps, but Shengsheng, who had used the push as an excuse to grope his bulging chest muscles, considered the exchange worthwhile.
Equally covered in goose bumps by her affected voice, Fusheng glanced at Shengsheng, who had no idea he had silently stolen her sash. His smile deepened.
“Sorry,” he said without the slightest sincerity, and truly released her.
Shengsheng straightened, all her attention focused on the “injured” City Lord. She remained completely unaware that anything about her own clothes had changed.
Glancing at the finger wrapped in her handkerchief, Shengsheng boldly took his hand. “Your hand is injured… Why don’t I feed you?”
Fusheng discreetly moved his gaze away from her waist. His tone was inscrutable. “All right.”
Tsk. He had taken the bait far too easily.
With a face like that, she had assumed he would be difficult to deceive. Why was he obeying her so readily?
After delighting inwardly for a moment, Shengsheng pushed her luck and sat in his lap, pinching pastries between her fingers to feed him.
Since his defenses against wolves were so poor, she would take responsibility for this innocent young man, hehehehe.
With a fragrant, soft beauty in his arms, Fusheng Duan enjoyed the pleasure of being fed, his seemingly affectionate eyes narrowing in comfort.
Shengsheng Zhou seized the opportunity to steal several glances at the writing on the snowy sheets of paper he had scattered carelessly about.
But Shengsheng was destined for disappointment.
She discovered that she could not read the words.
It was a script she had never seen before, crooked and full of complicated strokes that left her dizzy.
The owner of the letters seemed not to notice her little movements at all and appeared perfectly harmless.
The atmosphere between them was warm and harmonious until Shengsheng began to feel a little cold.
She casually glanced down at herself, then froze on the spot.
When the bright red image of mandarin ducks playing in the water entered her eyes, she did not even realize why it looked so familiar. Only when a breeze from nowhere slowly blew aside the excess fabric, revealing the full pattern, did Shengsheng belatedly understand–
Holy shit. Had she failed to tie her clothes properly when she woke up this morning?!
She was about to cry out when realization struck. This was an excellent opportunity!
She observed the City Lord before her. Although nothing about his appearance seemed unusual, his rounded earlobes had turned scarlet at some point, like overripe fruit, drawing Shengsheng’s gaze.
Understanding dawned on her. He had clearly noticed her state yet deliberately said nothing. But he still did not dare look at her, and even his ears had secretly reddened. He might appear entirely at ease, but inside he was probably as pure as a blank sheet of paper.
With that thought, Shengsheng remained outwardly unmoved while delight blossomed inside her. She squeezed slightly, and the soft pastry suddenly shed crumbs onto his chest.
“Ah, I’m sorry, City Lord. I failed to control my strength.”
Looking nervous and distressed, she began brushing the crumbs from his chest. Her hands were soft and delicate, seemingly boneless, yet the more she worked, the messier things became. She “inadvertently” pulled open all the clothing across Fusheng’s chest.
Looking at the flustered woman before him, Fusheng’s smile deepened.
Well, well. Which little tail had fallen into the trap?
Looking at the living body below, with its smooth muscular lines, perfectly defined eight-pack, and prominent Adonis belt, Shengsheng silently swallowed.
Holy shit. Every day, he was either lying on his back or his side, looking all delicate and frail. How was his body this good?!
A-Pang hovered nearby and watched, signaling with his eyes that Fusheng should now deliver the line, “Woman, are you satisfied with what you see?”
Of course, perhaps because they belonged to different species or simply lacked rapport, Fusheng failed to understand what A-Pang’s twitching gaze meant.
He shot A-Pang a cutting glare, frightening him into fleeing in utter panic.

“There’s no need to wipe…”
Fusheng caught Shengsheng’s hand and looked uncertainly aside, not daring to face her.
Shengsheng thought he was far too innocent. Her face, meanwhile, looked deeply apologetic. “It’s all my fault. City Lord, you should take this garment off. I’ll fetch you a new one.”
As she spoke, her hands swiftly and decisively stripped away his outer robe, leaving only an inner garment gaping so widely that it concealed almost nothing.
