Chapter 15

Time was running out. I had to save both sides.

My eyes flicked to the lights in the dim cavern. Those few swaying bulbs were all powered by a single electrical wire dragged in from outside.

Li Lun had already found the rope, but he was still hesitating.

Luo Gui, meanwhile, was already walking toward Xiao Feng with a savage grin.

With a sharp pop, the cavern plunged into darkness.

“What’s going on?” Pi Gui snapped. “Feng Yingjun, is this your doing?”

The moment I heard that name, my whole body went rigid.

But I quickly pulled myself together. Whatever history I had with Feng Yingjun, today our goal was the same.

“Damn right. This old lady has plenty more tricks where that came from!”

“I’m reporting you to the Maoshan Ancestor right now and having you, you old bastard who practices Living Human Corpse Refining, blasted into pieces!”

Following the direction from memory, I felt my way over to Feng Yingjun. But before I could untie her, a figure lunged at me.

It was Luo Gui.

The two of us grappled on the ground. In a brief opening, I threw the knife in my hand and the string of bronze bells to Feng Yingjun.

Pi Gui still had no idea what was happening on his side, but his men quickly lit torches.

As firelight flared, Pi Gui saw me and Luo Gui. He probably couldn’t make out exactly who I was, though. He only gave a cold snort. “I didn’t expect there to be another helper. But so what?”

Pi Gui turned to Li Lun. “Young Master Li, still not going to act? Wait any longer, and your illness will never be cured.”

Li Lun was panting hard, but his hand still reached for the rope.

“Li Lun!”

By then, Feng Yingjun had cut through the bindings on her hands. “Didn’t you say you didn’t believe me? Then take a look at who this is!”

The bronze bells rang. Pi Gui’s brow furrowed as a wave of yin energy seeped out from the stone chamber nearby.

Then came the sound of heavy footsteps.

In the firelight, a tall, burly figure slowly walked out of the stone chamber. His whole body was blue-black, and only two empty holes remained where his eyes should have been.

“Dad!” Li Lun cried, his face draining of color. This was clearly no longer the body of a living person. It was Li Xiong!

Pi Gui cursed under his breath. He probably hadn’t expected Feng Yingjun to be able to control corpses with bells too.

“Pi Gui, you lied to me! You said my dad was still alive!”

Rage overwhelmed Li Lun, and he charged straight at Pi Gui.

Pi Chun grabbed Li Lun. Seeing this, Li Lun’s men immediately rushed forward to stop him.

The two sides broke into a chaotic brawl.

Seizing the chance, I kicked Luo Gui away. The back of his head slammed into a rock, and he seemed to pass out.

Feng Yingjun also untied the ropes around her ankles at that moment.

The two of us ran to the edge of the pool.

“You’re that driver from the other day. I paid you back the five hundred yuan.”

“I know.”

I cut the rope tied to the stone pillar and carefully pulled Lili to the side of the pool.

The fish in the water were still thrashing wildly.

Feng Yingjun grabbed Lili into her arms. “Lili, wake up. How are you?”

Lili, now rescued, was barely breathing. I took off my jacket and wrapped it around her.

At that moment, Luo Hong ran over with a torch in hand. “We need to get out of here.”

This was the agreement Luo Hong and I had made outside.

Originally, he had worked with the Li Family only because he wanted the job of transporting the fish.

But who could have expected Luo Gui to get involved with Pi Gui?

Who knew what Pi Gui had promised Luo Gui, but Luo Gui wouldn’t listen to Luo Hong’s advice at all and insisted on wading into this mess.

Luo Hong might have been a rotten person, but he was at least still clearheaded. In his eyes, not a single one of these people was normal.

I promised him that if he covered me while I entered the cave, then if anything went wrong, I would take him with me when I ran.
