Chapter 45

The fierce battle stopped abruptly.

Meeting their questioning gazes, Su Chen looked at the leading white lion.

“I can solve the zoo’s problem, but my method will certainly be something you cannot accept or understand. Will you support everything I do?”

“Let me emphasize this: I need absolute trust!”

Su Chen’s determined eyes locked onto the lion’s.

The leading white lion silently watched him for a long time.

At last, as though sensing the resolve in his gaze, it nodded in agreement.

“Good. I hope we work well together.”

Su Chen smiled.

Then he turned toward the restless shadow.

“Don’t rush to attack. I accept your condition. I’ll take the badge out of the zoo for you. In return, how about opening a door for me now? I can’t be bothered waiting until dawn.”

Su Chen smiled as he offered the tempting fruit.

Before the shadow could answer,

the other three white lions grew anxious. Their breathing quickened, and three murderous gazes fell upon Su Chen.

Even the leading lion looked at him in confusion.

But it honored their agreement, turned back, and growled at its brothers.

The three lions answered with suppressed roars.

After several exchanges, they finally forced down their anger and nodded with strikingly human gestures.

The shadow was also bewildered and failed to react at first.

Was this lion playing games because he had nothing better to do?

Earlier, he refused an offer to leave. Now, after a battle, he agreed.

Was he making a monkey of “It”?

Who exactly was the monkey here?

The shadow was irritated, but it could still distinguish priorities.

It could never refuse the primate’s willingness to take the badge out of the zoo and eliminate this lingering threat.

That was why “It” had noticed the moment Su Chen obtained the letter.

For two years, “It” had constantly watched it.

In fact, “It” had looked forward to someone finding the letter even more than Old Zhou had.

The shadow waved an arm. Countless toys flew from the security office with a whoosh

and formed a line of large characters on the lawn.

Under the moonlight, the words formed from white toys were highly conspicuous.

“Deal. Get a flashlight from the room, then follow me. I’ll take you out.”

Seeing its agreement, Su Chen finally relaxed.

After exhaling deeply, he returned to the director’s office and found a dust-covered flashlight in a cabinet in the inner room.

“Can this fucking thing still work?”

He muttered the question and pressed the switch.

Bright light immediately struck the wall.

“The quality isn’t bad. This organization really knows what it’s doing.”

He casually tossed the flashlight in his hand as he left.

Outside, he first looked at the leading white lion.

His dark eyes were filled with determination.

The white lion appeared to understand. It nodded, turned without hesitation, and led its three reluctant brothers back to the Lion Enclosure.

Once they had gone, Su Chen approached the shadow.

“Let’s go. Don’t waste time. I imagine you can’t wait either.”

Su Chen spoke teasingly.

“Head toward the entrance. The exit is currently blocked by the Aquarium. Shine the light to create shadows along the way.”

The toys on the lawn swiftly formed the sentence.

“Oh? When you fought the white lions just now, you had no shadow, but you didn’t seem affected.”

Su Chen seized the opportunity to extract more information.

“I came up from below. Having no shadow consumes a great deal of energy.”

The schemeless brat answered directly.

Su Chen’s thoughts stirred, and he firmly memorized the information.

Perhaps he could exploit it later.

He headed first toward the entrance near the Rabbit Enclosure.

Along the way, he followed the instructions and repeatedly cast the flashlight’s beam into the roadside woods.

The shadow leaped endlessly between patches of darkness, keeping pace with Su Chen.

In the silent depths of night, while the animals slept, a bizarre shadow constantly flashed through the gloomy woods.

The sight was unquestionably terrifying.

Yet the people in Longguo’s livestream were not frightened.

Instead, Su Chen had confused them.

Hadn’t he agreed to inherit the director’s dying wish and fight the monster to the death?

How had he negotiated with it so quickly?

It was even escorting him toward the exit.

That was absurd!

Although clearing the scenario safely would relieve Longguo’s people,

Su Chen had made such lofty declarations earlier that his compromise now left them somewhat disappointed.

“Cheer up, brothers. From what I know of Su Chen, he’s definitely plotting something nasty. He must have planned everything. Just watch. The monster is certain to suffer.”

“Exactly. If he truly didn’t want to take over the zoo, why risk going to the director’s office? He could have waited until dawn and cleared the scenario.”

“You people of Longguo only know how to deceive yourselves. Your Chosen One is clearly afraid. How shameful! He’s watching the zoo’s staff wait for death just to save himself. If Kimchi Nation’s contestant were still alive, he would courageously step forward!”

“Wow. When Su Chen volunteered to become director, you said he was insane and going to die. Now that he’s clearing the scenario, you’re preaching righteousness. Why does Kimchi Nation have so much shit to say?”

“Look! Kimchi Nation’s contestant is humping a tree over there!”

That comment instantly drew countless eyes.

Everyone looked at the livestream.

Beneath a tree in the Rabbit Enclosure, a vacant rabbit stood upright and mechanically thrust against the trunk again and again like a pile driver.

Many had witnessed Kim Siba transform into a rabbit during the day.

Judging by the landmarks, this was indeed where that transformation had occurred.

Longguo’s livestream erupted in laughter.

“Amazing, brother! Kimchi Nation’s Chosen One really did step forward bravely!”

“Good lord. Only Kimchi Nation could do this. Even Sakura Nation can’t keep a straight face!”

“Will the viewers from Kimchi Nation please give their acceptance speech?”

“Brothers, why can’t I see the rabbit’s tool of the crime? Can someone lend me a magnifying glass?”

The screen instantly filled with OK-hand emojis.

That broke the people of Kimchi Nation completely. The gesture’s destructive power was overwhelming.

Cursing, they withdrew from Longguo’s livestream.
