Chapter 41

At the Longguo Department of Supernatural Affairs,

Xiao Li and the others were also caught in a dilemma.

Su Chen’s question struck directly at their weakness. They had no idea how to answer.

Fortunately, Longguo had already used all its opportunities to send hints. Otherwise, they truly would not have known what reply to give him.

Amid the silence, Elder Qin turned around with a genial smile.

“Why is everyone so quiet? Relax. Let’s chat. If you were Su Chen, what would you choose?”

Elder Qin’s gaze swept across the group and stopped on Xiao Li.

“Xiao Li, tell us what you think. You’re about the same age as Su Chen, so perhaps you share his perspective.”

Xiao Li jolted at being called upon. His mouth opened, but he was momentarily speechless.

“Don’t be nervous. Say whatever you like. We’re only chatting.”

Elder Qin saw through his concerns at once and encouraged him.

Hearing that, Xiao Li steeled himself and spoke his mind.

“I believe Longguo must come first. We cannot indulge in misplaced compassion. Besides, those people are most likely nothing but NPCs.”

Xiao Li’s expression was resolute.

Elder Qin nodded without comment, then looked at the others.

“What do you think?”

He continued speaking.

“Elder Qin, we agree with Xiao Li. He’s about to clear the scenario, so there is no need to create further complications. This zoo is far too dangerous!”

“I feel the same. There is no reason to gamble with the lives of Longguo’s people.”

“I support Xiao Li. We cannot indulge in misplaced compassion!”

Everyone voiced their opinions.

After listening, Elder Qin lowered his head and took a sip of tea.

The large tea mug hid his aged face.

His voice emerged muffled. “You’re right. But what if those people are real? Or to go one step further, what if they’re people of Longguo too?”

Everyone stared in shock.

That was far too absurd.

The idea that people in the Horror World were real was already ridiculous. But people of Longguo? How could that be possible?

Could parallel worlds truly exist?

“That can’t be possible, Elder Qin.”

“Exactly. Elder Qin, you’re overthinking it.”

“How could people from Longguo enter the Horror World?”

Everyone expressed disbelief.

“Haven’t you noticed that everyone in this Horror World speaks Chinese? I initially assumed the Horror World changed the language for each country, but I watched the livestreams from other nations.” Elder Qin paused to drink more tea.

“In their livestreams, the staff also speak Chinese. The Horror World’s mysterious power merely allows every viewer to understand them.”

Elder Qin drew a deep breath and continued, “Every rule is also written in Chinese. So is the letter. I verified those points through the other livestreams as well, and they work the same way as the spoken language. And don’t titles like Old Zhang and Old Chen sound familiar to you?”

Elder Qin’s calm words sent a profound shock through everyone.

After a moment’s thought, a terrifying conjecture appeared in their minds.

Xiao Li asked in a trembling voice, “If that place is Longguo and those people aren’t NPCs, how did Longguo fall into a world of rules? Is it a parallel world?”

Elder Qin shook his head.

“Perhaps. Or it may be something even more terrifying. Watch the livestream. Let’s see what Su Chen chooses.”

With that, Elder Qin fell silent, turned around, and continued watching the screen.

No one knew that he silently added another sentence in his heart.

“I have a feeling Su Chen will uncover every mystery.”

This mysterious intuition had saved him many times on the battlefield, and Elder Qin trusted it deeply.

Su Chen would certainly reveal the truth.

Meanwhile, inside the Aquarium room rented by the hour,

Su Chen gritted his teeth, tormented by indecision.

The figures of those who had sacrificed themselves refused to leave his mind.

He kept feeling that heroes should not meet such an end.

Some inexplicable feeling also told him that if he did not inherit the director’s position, he would regret it someday.

At last, Su Chen steeled himself and decided to go to the director’s office.

In truth, he already had a preliminary idea for changing the zoo.

If he successfully inherited the position, he would not mind confronting “It” once.

He could treat it as an adventure game. He still had his save point, after all.

At worst, he could reload after failing and obediently clear the scenario.

Having resolved the matter, Su Chen rose from the bed and prepared to leave.

Then he noticed from the corner of his eye that the writing on the letter had changed.

He hurriedly focused on it.

The densely packed characters were becoming chaotic and distorted.

They slowly shifted and recombined,

until the mass of writing formed a single large sentence.

[Come quickly! I can’t wait any longer~]

A chill ran down Su Chen’s back.

He knew “It” had arrived and was challenging him.

He drew a deep breath and quickly calmed himself.

Unlike before, the bizarre sight did not fill him with fear.

Instead, he felt a trace of excitement.

“Perhaps deep down, I’m someone who craves excitement!”

The corner of Su Chen’s mouth rose in a smile.

Since the other party had already issued an invitation, there was no need to drag matters out.

He switched on the jellyfish night-light and returned the letter and everything else to their original places.

Then he opened the door and headed toward the Aquarium entrance.
