Chapter 7
Chapter 7
Inside the main conference room of the Longguo Department of Supernatural Affairs.
The officials were divided.
“Elder Qin, the latest computer analysis is ready. It incorporates the other contestants’ behavior and the information sent by the intelligence department.”
“Since the sample remains too small, the calculation still uses the previous logic and makes only a rough comparison among the three main possibilities.”
“The probability that the blue text contains the correct rules is 71.31 percent. The probability for the black text is 23.63 percent, and the probability that both black and blue are correct is 5.06 percent.”
“With figures like these, should we hurry and notify Su Chen?”
The young man in glasses looked at Elder Qin’s back as he asked the question.
Elder Qin said nothing. His clouded eyes remained fixed on Su Chen’s.
He saw something familiar in them.
It was the kind of gaze found only on a battlefield.
Resolute and brave, yet quick and cunning as a fox.
How could Su Chen possibly be an idiot?
The man must have his own reasons.
“Elder Qin, we need a decision!”
The young man urged him again.
Elder Qin slowly exhaled and turned around.
“Wait a little longer. There is more to Su Chen than meets the eye,” he said with conviction.
“Look at the piece of the map in his hand. It proves that he never blindly trusted Kim Siba. He saw through the man’s deception long ago.”
“If so, why didn’t he choose the blue rules? I believe he must have his reasons.”
Everyone in the conference room heard Elder Qin’s words.
Their gazes instinctively shifted toward Su Chen’s right hand.
When Su Chen tore the map, Kim Siba happened to be mutating.
The broadcast had temporarily switched to Kimchi Nation’s feed.
No one had seen what Su Chen did.
Only after Elder Qin pointed it out did they notice something unusual.
Su Chen had kept his right hand clenched into a fist.
Traces of paper were faintly visible between his fingers.
Everyone was astonished.
The investigation file described Su Chen.
It called him a slow-witted dropout.
But his current performance clearly contradicted that information.
Everyone was still surprised.
Then Elder Qin continued.
“Contact our fellow departments and have them regulate the language in the livestream.”
“Discussion and analysis are allowed. Abuse is not!”
“Su Chen is risking his life for Longguo. We cannot let our hero bleed for us and shed tears as well.”
“And turn on the firewall. Do not allow any other country to watch!”
Elder Qin narrowed his eyes as he spoke.
The bespectacled young man immediately acknowledged the order.
Then he turned and left the conference room.
Not long afterward, a notice appeared across Longguo’s livestream.
[Su Chen is a hero risking his life for his country. Citizens of Longguo may not insult him at will.]
“That idiot Su Chen must have connections. Look, they’re already trying to silence the public.”
“Poster above, I’m a netizen from the northern mainland. Could you explain your thoughts on the matter in greater detail?”
“The notice is right! Whatever else you say, he’s risking his life for this country. What have any of you done besides hammering at your keyboards?”
“Exactly. If you have time to flame him, use your brains and study the underlying logic of the Horror World. Maybe you could actually help the country!”
“Holy shit! Su Chen is taking the left path! We’re screwed. Something’s definitely going to happen!”
The instant that comment appeared, every gaze returned to Su Chen.
He walked toward the left-hand path without hesitation.
His figure soon vanished into the fog and disappeared from view.
At the same time, Su Chen stepped into the left-hand fork.
Most of the other countries’ Chosen Ones arrived at the Primate Enclosure.
Roughly half of them had rabbit ears growing from their heads and rabbits in their arms.
Clearly, they had followed the blue rules.
As for why the other half had no ears?
There had not been enough rabbits to go around.
The contestants from Ugly Nation and Sakura Nation stood out the most.
Lamb strutted along with a rabbit in his arms.
Beside him, Yamashita Kenichiro had a blackened right eye and nothing atop his head.
His gaze repeatedly swept across Lamb’s back, venom filling his eyes.
As the group slowly advanced, they soon noticed the primate on the artificial hill dressed in black.
Everyone was startled.
They hurriedly quickened their pace, preparing to leave.
But before they had gone far, the road suddenly split.
Now everyone was at a loss.
The rule concerning this event had been printed in black.
In their minds, all the black text was false.
For that very reason, they had no idea what to do.
Once again, Kim Siba stepped forward.
He smiled, turned, and entered the right-hand fork.
His figure gradually disappeared into the fog.
Many people with rabbit ears suddenly understood.
If the black rule told them to go left, then doing the opposite had to be the correct answer.
They figured it out.
Everyone with rabbit ears headed down the right-hand passage.
Yamashita Kenichiro watched Lamb walk away and was about to follow.
Then a warning stirred in his mind.
If the black text was false, they had to interpret it in reverse.
Then they should remain exactly where they were.
Yamashita Kenichiro quickly stopped.
He watched Lamb’s back with a smile.
“Baka. What an idiot. If you want to die so badly, go ahead.”
He muttered under his breath.
