Chapter 6
Elsewhere, Kim Siba happened to take out his phone to check the time.
Instead, his reflection appeared on the screen.
A pair of snow-white rabbit ears swayed atop his brownish-yellow hair.
They were impossible to miss.
Kim Siba flinched in shock. Cold sweat poured from him, and his thoughts fell into turmoil.
His left hand rose unconsciously toward his head.
Yet it passed straight through the rabbit ears.
Kim Siba froze.
He hurriedly tried again.
The result was the same.
Then he quickly checked the rest of his body.
He felt nothing unusual.
Now Kim Siba was confused.
But it did not take long for everything to click.
A smile appeared on his face.
He agreed with Sakura Nation’s Chosen One.
The blue text caused bizarre and terrifying illusions.
But those illusions inflicted no actual harm.
They were only meant to frighten people.
Once he understood, Kim Siba hurriedly hid his smile.
He replaced it with a look of panic and ran toward the people watching nearby.
He stopped when he was about ten meters away.
“Don’t touch the rabbits!” he shouted. “The blue text is wrong! I feel terrible. I think I’m turning into a rabbit!”
After shouting those words, Kim Siba did not wait for an answer.
He turned and ran down the visitor path into the distance.
“Idiots. First place is mine.”
Kim Siba thought silently.
At the same time, in Kimchi Nation’s livestream.
The viewers had already noticed Kim Siba’s expression.
Their grief instantly transformed into wild celebration.
“My God! What’s happening? Kim Siba actually returned to normal!”
“Judging by his behavior, I think the blue rules only look frightening. They’re actually the real rules.”
“Excellent analysis! Kim Siba is so smart! Just what you’d expect from Kimchi Nation’s Chosen One!”
“Our Chosen One has all the pigs from the other countries running in circles. Kimchi Nation truly is the center of the universe!”
“Just wait, Kimchi Nation. Ugly Nation’s intelligence department must know about this by now. You’re dead!”
……
The remaining contestants in the Rabbit Enclosure exchanged glances.
Most of them did not believe someone from Kimchi Nation would be so kind.
They were competitors, after all.
At that moment, many Chosen Ones received messages from their countries.
Their governments had used their sole opportunity to provide outside guidance without hesitation.
“Experts analyzing the Kimchi Nation contestant’s microexpressions have determined that he is lying. The blue text must be correct.”
“(A long series of analyses.)”
That put everyone at ease.
They surged into the Rabbit Enclosure and began searching for rabbits in the shade beneath the trees.
The contestants from Ugly Nation and Sakura Nation had not received guidance from their governments.
But the behavior of the crowd confirmed their suspicions.
They hurriedly joined the scramble for rabbits.
Meanwhile, Su Chen was touring the Primate Enclosure.
Nothing unusual had happened along the way.
It was almost unnaturally peaceful.
Then the rapid pounding of footsteps came from behind him.
He immediately turned to look.
A staff member in a black uniform was sprinting toward him from the distance.
Su Chen frowned.
He vaguely remembered that the staff at the entrance had all worn blue uniforms.
Why was this person dressed in black?
His guard rose.
The staff member in black drew closer and closer, bearing down on Su Chen.
Su Chen quickly stepped aside to clear the path.
The staff member brushed past him and raced onward.
They paid Su Chen no attention throughout the entire encounter.
They did not even glance at him.
Su Chen watched their retreating figure in confusion.
The staff member in black looked panicked, as though they were fleeing.
What could possibly be chasing them?
Just then, Su Chen’s vision blurred.
The road, which had originally been straight, suddenly split in the distance, forming a new branch to the right out of thin air.
The staff member in black chose the right-hand path without the slightest hesitation.
Su Chen was startled.
He still remembered what Rule Two had said about this.
[The Primate Enclosure has only one street and exhibits only primates. If you discover two streets and see primates dressed in black, choose the street on the left and finish your visit to this enclosure as quickly as possible.]
Remembering the rule, Su Chen hurriedly looked toward the primates on the artificial hill to his right.
What he saw made every hair on his body stand on end.
A primate dressed in a black work uniform had appeared on the hill.
Its uniform was identical to the one worn by the staff member who had just run past.
Su Chen shuddered.
He turned back toward the fork.
But white fog had risen across the branching paths, and the staff member was nowhere to be seen.
Su Chen drew a deep breath and forced down his panic.
He hurriedly obeyed the rule and quickened his pace.
Meanwhile, Longguo’s livestream had erupted into an argument.
“This is bad! I saw it in the other countries’ livestreams. Those terrifying things are only illusions. It looks like the blue text is the real thing!”
“But Su Chen has been following the black text this entire way and he’s perfectly safe!”
“Safe, my ass! Didn’t you see that primate wearing black just now? The road even split into two. You call that safe?”
“We’re finished. I think the rules have fooled Su Chen!”
“What is our government thinking? Why haven’t they sent Su Chen a message yet?”
“Su Chen is the real fucking idiot! He actually believed someone from Kimchi Nation! He’s going to get me killed!”
……
Longguo’s viewers were frantic.
They wished the government would notify Su Chen at once and tell him to turn around and pet a rabbit.
