Chapter 11
Chapter 11
Zhu Yin was delighted. “You’ve decided to drink it?”
Seeing her excitement, Shen Dongjun felt a sense of foreboding and even began to regret his decision.
But he had made up his mind, and he would not waver easily.
He asked, “Can it truly help me?”
Barbara was a little worried too. It whispered, “Host, what is that? Nothing will happen to the protagonist after he drinks it, right?”
If the male lead died from this unidentified potion, Barbara and its host would become famous throughout the World-Hopping Bureau. Worse than famous–they might be executed by the Tribunal for the suspected murder of a protagonist.
Zhu Yin reassured it. “The Young Master has a bad temper, but he hasn’t gone too far. I wouldn’t harm him.”
Then she answered Shen Dongjun’s question. “Based on my observations of the two of you, this potion can solve eighty percent of the problems between you.”
At that, Shen Dongjun stopped hesitating. He reached for the glass and raised it to his lips.
The potion looked horrifying, but it did not have the slightest strange smell. Through the glass, Shen Dongjun saw Zhu Yin’s eyes shining with anticipation.
He steeled himself and drained it in one gulp.
It was cool and unexpectedly sweet, with the flavor of some kind of refreshing summer drink.
Shen Dongjun waited patiently, but his body showed no reaction.
Unable to help himself, he looked at Zhu Yin. “What exactly is this potion?”
Before now, Zhu Yin had refused to tell him no matter what.
Instead of answering, Zhu Yin asked, “Young Master, what do you really think of me?”
Shen Dongjun shot her a cold glance. “You’re strange, evil, and of unknown origin. If possible, I want you to disappear from the Shen residence immediately and never show your face before me again.”
After speaking, he froze. This was indeed what he thought, but the strange, witchlike woman had shown no obvious malice so far. He should not have been so blunt.
Still, he had genuinely been more irritable than usual over the past few days, so he did not think much of it.
Zhu Yin grumbled unhappily, “I’ve devoted myself to helping you and this family, yet you dislike me that much.”
Shen Dongjun said, “Since you know you aren’t likable, show some sense and leave on your own.”
“That won’t do.” Zhu Yin instantly smiled again. She straightened her sleeves, looking thoroughly righteous. “I like seeing people unable to stand me yet powerless to do anything about it.”
“You!”
Zhu Yin smiled and reminded him, “Young Master, if you don’t go find the Young Madam soon, you might not be able to find her at all.”
Whatever Shen Dongjun thought of made his expression change abruptly. He hurried away.
Barbara watched his retreating back nervously. “Host, what do you mean, he might not be able to find her? Is the heroine going to conceal her identity and flee overseas?”
“Oh.” Zhu Yin winked at it. “No. I lied to him!”
Barbara’s tiny mouth fell open.
Zhu Yin was brimming with enthusiasm. “Come on. I’ll take you to watch the show!”
At the Shen residence.
The servants watched the Young Master rush out of the house like a gust of wind without leaving a single instruction.
Before long, the butler came out as well.
Zhu Yin waved to them and gave instructions. “The Young Master and I need to go out for a while. The Young Master and Young Madam will return for dinner together tonight, so remember to prepare more of the dishes the Young Madam likes.”
Auntie Xu was surprised and relieved. “The Young Master won the Young Madam back so quickly this time?”
Suppressing a laugh, Zhu Yin said, “Mm-hmm!”
.
The moment Shen Dongjun obtained Han Qingzi’s address, he knew Zhu Yin had tricked him again. Han Qingzi was merely staying in a hotel and had no intention of leaving.
As a tyrannical CEO, he naturally possessed methods unavailable to ordinary people and learned her current whereabouts with ease.
Han Qingzi had not gone out today, but not because she was depressed. Her period had begun.
She felt unwell and lay on the hotel bed with her brows drawn together.
The doorbell rang then. She had just asked the suite’s personal butler to prepare brown-sugar ginger tea, so she assumed the hotel had delivered it and got up to answer the door.
When the door opened, she found no eagerly awaited hot drink, but a handsome face she did not particularly welcome.
Han Qingzi’s expression chilled. “Why are you here?”
Shen Dongjun opened his mouth. “I missed you very much.”
The moment the words left him, both of them froze.
Han Qingzi touched her forehead, wondering whether she had developed a fever without realizing it. Otherwise, how could she be hallucinating?
Shen Dongjun was saying sweet things to her?
Shen Dongjun was even more horrified.
He knew better than anyone that these were certainly not the words he had intended to say!
Abruptly, he remembered the potion he had drunk.
Han Qingzi closed her eyes for a second. When she opened them again, he was still there.
The physical discomfort had left her paler than usual. Her large eyes glistened, making her look pitiful and moving.
Shen Dongjun naturally noticed. Though he tried his best to keep his face taut, what came out was, “What’s wrong? Are you feeling unwell?”
After another moment’s thought, realization dawned. “This is when you usually have your period. Does your stomach hurt?”
Another silence followed his words.
Han Qingzi was astonished, and a secret flicker of delight rose in her heart.
She had not expected the usually icy Shen Dongjun to be considerate enough to remember the dates of her period.
Her expression involuntarily softened, and much of the resentment in her heart faded.
She asked softly, “Why did you come?”
Shen Dongjun wanted to say he had only happened to be passing by, but his mouth uncontrollably voiced the truth in his heart. “I came here specifically to find you. I know I misunderstood you before, and I feel guilty. I wanted to apologize, but I couldn’t bring myself to swallow my pride.”
“…Wait! I have something to deal with. I’ll come back to see you in a moment.” Gritting his teeth, Shen Dongjun hurriedly finished speaking to Han Qingzi, turned, and left.
He truly did not dare remain there. If he stayed any longer, who knew what else he might say!
Still in shock, Han Qingzi nodded blankly and watched him leave.
“Zhu Yin! What exactly did you make me drink?” The moment he reached an empty place, Shen Dongjun called Zhu Yin.
“Hi, Young Master.”
The familiar voice came not from the phone, but from behind him.
Shen Dongjun spun around and met Zhu Yin’s smiling face.
He nearly crushed his phone. His voice was as cold as shards of ice, each word forced out separately. “What. Did. You. Make. Me. Drink?”
Zhu Yin answered slyly, “What I gave you isn’t important. Just tell me: did you manage to charm the Young Madam?”
Shen Dongjun’s rage faltered.
Then he sneered. “A potion that controls my speech. You really are some evil being, aren’t you?”
“Young Master, don’t pin crimes on me without cause,” Zhu Yin retorted. “I’m a law-abiding citizen. And controlling speech is pure nonsense. My potion merely makes whoever drinks it speak only the truth in their heart.”
Shen Dongjun: “…”
“Zhu Yin? You came too?” Han Qingzi’s voice sounded behind them.
They both turned. Zhu Yin was smiling, while Shen Dongjun looked numb, with a faint trace of mortified fury still visible.
