By the time we arrived at Ruihe Hospital, it was almost evening.

Wang Cheng’s car had followed behind mine, but after he parked, he didn’t get out for a long while.

I walked over to check on him and found him huddled in the driver’s seat, wrapped in an army coat and shivering.

“B-Brother Long, I think I’ve caught a cold. I keep breaking out in cold sweats.”

I touched his forehead. It was ice-cold.

The other young driver wasn’t doing much better.

I turned back to look for Liu Wu.

Liu Wu didn’t try to avoid me. He was standing beside my car, smiling pleasantly as he said, “Looks like tomorrow, only Mr. Long will be able to make the run. That’s fine. One vehicle will be enough to carry everything tomorrow.”

Shi Kang stood behind Liu Wu with the other two men assigned to ride shotgun. Judging by the wary look on their faces, I was almost certain.

“You’re people from the Sky-Watching Sect?”

Liu Wu did not deny it. “No need to be nervous, Mr. Long. We’re different from Zuo Hao. Zuo Hao belongs to Third Hall, and Third Hall has always loved going against the Elder Council.”

“Our Second Hall doesn’t have that problem. If the Elder Council says no one is to touch Mr. Long, then we won’t lay a single finger on you.”

“It’s just that we never expected this matter to be connected to Mr. Long again. How about this? As long as Mr. Long helps us finish the final delivery tomorrow, you can ask me anything you want, and I promise I’ll tell you everything I know.”

I let out a cold laugh. “You think I’d cooperate with the Sky-Watching Sect?”

Liu Wu immediately spread his hands. “Of course, you’re free to refuse. We won’t force anyone against their will. But we can also find other drivers. Although tomorrow night is bound to be extremely dangerous, with our people riding along, it’s not necessarily impossible to make the trip.”

I didn’t answer Liu Wu right away.

First, I sent Wang Cheng and the other driver home, telling them they didn’t need to go tomorrow.

Then I returned to Maternal and Child Hospital No. 3 alone.

The entire construction site had shut down. Everything around it was silent.

Once again, I walked into the building that had taken my little sister away.

When I stepped onto the stairs to the second floor, I truly felt as if a lifetime had passed. But only for an instant.

Starting from the corridor, the once-crowded pediatric inpatient ward looked as though a layer of skin had been peeled off.

The wall plaster, the flooring, even the parts of the ceiling that could be cut away had all been removed.

The wards and treatment rooms on both sides were completely empty as well.

No wonder Liu Wu wasn’t the least bit worried that I might come here to investigate. There was almost nothing left to investigate.

I could only rely on my memory and eventually found the ward where my little sister had once stayed.

Even the door had been dismantled. I stood in the doorway for a while before slowly walking in.

The room was empty. All I could do was imagine my little sister once lying here in a crib, facing everything cold and clinical in this hospital all by herself.

What exactly had happened on the night she disappeared?

As I was thinking, a sigh suddenly came from behind me.

I whipped around and saw someone standing in the corner diagonally behind me!

Her back was to me, her head lowered, and she was dressed like a nurse.

Although I couldn’t see her face, for some reason, she felt familiar.

“Who are you?” I asked.

Her upper body swayed slightly, and from time to time, her head knocked against the wall.

I waited in silence. The temperature around me seemed to plummet, and a chill seeped into my left shoulder.

In the blink of an eye, she vanished before my eyes.

But immediately after, I sensed her icy presence-right behind me!

The instant I drew the Soul-Whip and turned around, I saw her face.

It was her!

I never expected it to be the nurse whose arm my mother had grabbed back then.

She stared at me in a daze. Suddenly, the sound of a baby crying came from her arms.

It seemed to be a newborn child, but the white swaddling cloth quickly dissolved into blood, staining her pure white nurse’s uniform a vivid crimson.

The nurse threw her head back and let out a piercing howl.

I forced myself not to lash out with the Soul-Whip. I didn’t really want to hurt her.

The next second, she charged at me!
