“Didn’t you just say five hundred and thirty thousand?” Pei Yuming couldn’t help cutting in.
“Shut up!” Sunglasses Guy glared at him. “The remaining four hundred and seventy thousand can count as compensation for my emotional and physical suffering. Who told you to hit me?”
Pei Yuming looked down at the footprints on his body, his face full of disbelief. “You were clearly the one hitting me.”
“That doesn’t matter.” Sunglasses Guy shrugged and slowly took a step forward, bringing with him an overwhelming sense of pressure. “The point is, I already got violent today, and I’m in a really bad mood. So are you paying up or not?”
Lu Dong frowned and turned away from his breath, then said indifferently, “How should I give it to you? I don’t have that much on hand right now. Let’s set a time and place.”
Hearing him agree so readily, both men froze. Then, at the same time, regret appeared on their faces. They were probably kicking themselves for not asking for more just now.
Seeing through them, Lu Dong took the initiative and suggested, “How about I transfer you a hundred thousand first? That’s all I have available right now, so consider it a deposit. Then we can exchange numbers and arrange the rest later.”

Sunglasses Guy silently ran his tongue over his back teeth and cursed under his breath, but he did not object.
One minute later, fifty thousand had arrived in each of their accounts.
Both men were grinning from ear to ear. White T-shirt Guy stepped forward and threw an arm around Lu Dong’s somewhat slender shoulders, his intentions anything but kind. “Let’s go, moneybags. Take us brothers to withdraw the rest.”
Without changing expression, Lu Dong brushed his hand off. “You can’t go. Banks have surveillance cameras. You’ll be filmed.”
“A bank?” Sunglasses Guy looked at him suspiciously, menace lacing his voice. “Since your money is in the bank, why can’t you just transfer it to us directly?”
Lu Dong lied with a completely straight face. “My daily transfer limit is one hundred thousand. If it’s more than that, I have to go in person to withdraw it.”
“There’s a bullshit rule like that?” Sunglasses Guy clearly did not believe him.
Lu Dong spread his hands. “If you don’t believe me, there’s nothing I can do.”
“Bro,” White T-shirt Guy said, pulling Sunglasses Guy aside and lowering his voice to make a suggestion. “Stop wasting time with them. We know they live here anyway, so let’s get their numbers first and talk about the rest later. We’ve already got the hundred thousand. Don’t forget, this pretty boy said at the start that he’d already called the police. If we drag this out any longer, I’m afraid the cops might actually show up.”
Sunglasses Guy frowned and glanced at his cousin. In the end, he nodded. “You’ve got a point. Then we’ll get their phone number first.”
“Give me your cell number.” Sunglasses Guy took out his phone, ready to save it.
Lu Dong rattled off a string of numbers with practiced ease. A moment later, the phone in his hand rang.
“Not bad. You didn’t lie to me.” Sunglasses Guy was satisfied. “I’ll contact you tomorrow afternoon. Before that, get the money ready. We’ll decide the exact location later.”
“Fine.” Lu Dong wasted no words.
The two men exchanged a look, clearly preparing to leave. But just as they were about to turn around, White T-shirt Guy suddenly asked, “How much are you planning to prepare?”
Lu Dong only wanted to get rid of them as quickly as possible. “One million. Consider today’s hundred thousand the interest.”
Sunglasses Guy was so shocked he even took off his cracked sunglasses. He nodded at Lu Dong with open admiration. “Not bad, brother. After this is over, I’m making you my friend!”
White T-shirt Guy tugged at his cousin and reminded him, “Let’s go, bro.”
Seeing that the two of them were finally leaving, Lu Dong slowly let out a breath. Only then did he turn around to help Pei Yuming, whose face was bruised and swollen.
But at that very moment, Pei Yuming’s father, who had already left, actually came back, and he brought his second son, Pei Yucheng, with him.
Pei Yucheng was carrying a table leg in his left hand, apparently torn from who knew where, and an unsharpened kitchen cleaver from home in his right. He blocked the two men from the other side and shouted fiercely, “Who hit my big brother just now? Nobody leaves until you explain it!”
Pei Yuming stared at his own younger brother, dumbfounded. He had never imagined that one day Pei Yucheng would be capable of doing something so gutsy.

Sunglasses Guy and White T-shirt Guy truly were cousins. They had the same reckless streak in their bones. Seeing Pei Yucheng holding a cleaver, they showed no fear at all. Instead, they looked ready to charge over and have a go at him.
Lu Dong hurried over to stop them. He wedged himself between the two sides and pushed apart the people whose attention was fixed entirely on each other. At the same time, his ears caught the faint sound of police sirens outside the residential compound. In the chaos, all he had time to do was snatch the cleaver from Pei Yucheng’s hand and throw it into the trees. This time, before Sunglasses Guy could even finish his threats, the police officers who had rushed over pinned him to the ground.
The whole group rode in police cars to the station. As soon as they got out, the lawyer Lu Dong had called came up to meet them.
As they walked inside, Lu Dong comforted Pei Yuming. “Lao Pei, don’t worry. These two idiots took my money, so they definitely won’t be able to get out of an extortion charge.
