Chapter 6
Chapter 6
“Someone’s dead! The demon coffins killed someone!”
Someone in the crowd shouted, and the already terrified workers instantly scattered in every direction.
For a moment, the entire scene descended into complete chaos.
This time, Zhang Qing, the man in charge, couldn’t hold back any longer. He rushed up to Master Tian and said, “Master, those five coffins have to be sent away. If you keep this up, our project is never going to get started!”
Before Master Tian could say a word, I suddenly heard Jiang Shuang calling for me through the chaos, sobbing as she shouted.
“Uncle Long! Uncle Long! Are you okay, Uncle Long-”
When Jiang Shuang saw the crowd scattering and heard so many people yelling that someone had died, she was afraid I was the one who’d gotten hurt. In a panic, she got out of the car and ran over to look for me.
Master Tian spotted Jiang Shuang the moment she reached the edge of the pit, and the fury on his face vanished in an instant.
His shifty little eyes suddenly gleamed.
He looked at Jiang Shuang, then at me, before curling the corner of his mouth. “Fine. Since this brother here insists on taking the trip despite the danger, I won’t meddle any further.”
“However, Manager Liu from your company is, after all, a friend of mine. I can’t just stand by and watch you walk to your deaths. How about this? I’ll have my disciple, Fan Qian, go with you. If anything happens on the road, he can at least lend you a hand.”
Zhang Qing clearly hadn’t expected Master Tian to change his tune faster than turning a page, but at least they could finally get rid of this hot potato.
Still, Fan Qian wasn’t the only one who had to come along for this coffin delivery. Zhang Qing himself had to go as well.
Because once the coffins were delivered, he still needed to give the police an explanation.
The bodyguard who’d cracked his head was sent to the hospital. He wasn’t dead, but from the look of it, he’d been scared half out of his mind.
In the end, I was the one who loaded all five coffins onto the truck by myself.
At that point, there was no room left to fuss over proper procedure. The five coffins were all stacked on top of one another.
I secured them with rope, then covered them with a layer of yellow silk and a layer of white cloth.
Before we set off, I burned some paper money and ingots around the truck. You could call it toll money for the road.
Originally, I hadn’t planned to bring Fan Qian along.
But this trip was a near-certain deathtrap for Jiang Shuang, and that Master Tian definitely knew more than we did.
If I kept his disciple in my hands, then when it really came down to it, he might be able to help us.
After getting into the truck, I had Fan Qian sit in the passenger seat, while Jiang Shuang and Zhang Qing sat in the back.
Fan Qian was clearly unhappy about it and kept muttering under his breath.
But he was at least somewhat afraid of me, so he didn’t dare say anything openly.
