Chapter 5

Those five vivid red coffins looked chillingly sinister even under the bright midday sun.

No worker dared step forward to help me carry them, so I planned to first tie the coffins down with rope, then use the construction site crane to lift all five onto my truck.

As I pulled the rope over to bind the coffins, a lot of the onlooking workers sucked in sharp breaths.

The five coffins all looked to be made of fir wood. They weren’t very large, a full size smaller than ordinary coffins.

Each one probably weighed only two or three hundred jin, and lifting them to sling the ropes around them wasn’t difficult for me.

But I had overlooked Master Tian.

He walked gloomily to the edge of the pit, both hands resting on his cane. With a slight exertion of force,

the coffin I had just lifted dropped back down with a thud.

I clenched my teeth, veins bulging, the muscles in my arms tightening hard.

But the coffin seemed nailed to the ground, completely motionless.

I saw the corners of Master Tian’s mouth curl up as he looked at me smugly.

He had said it already: these five coffins were not for me to move, and if he said I couldn’t move them, then I couldn’t.

But I didn’t believe that nonsense!

I gripped the coffin tightly, bent my knees, dug my feet into the ground, and drove force up from my legs. Blue veins snaked from my calves all the way to my upper arms.

The cane in Master Tian’s hands began to tremble violently. He was startled and looked up to glare at me.

I let out a low roar and suddenly rose!

The coffin swayed slightly, then with a creak, I forcibly yanked it up from the ground-

At the same time, the cane in Master Tian’s hands bent left and right, instantly breaking into pieces.

“Master!” His young apprentice hurried to support him.

As for me, I calmly slipped the rope loops over the coffin and tied them down one by one.

At that moment, the faint fragrance seemed to grow stronger, and I vaguely thought I heard someone laughing.

Over there, Master Tian shoved his apprentice aside. Furious that I had made him lose face, he pointed at me and snapped, “Go hold him down!”

His four or five bodyguards still hesitated a little, but they had no choice but to obey Master Tian.

One of them was the first to jump down into the pit and charge straight at me.

I had just lowered one coffin and hadn’t even stepped forward yet, but unexpectedly that man staggered for no reason at all, his body tilting sideways as he slammed into a coffin.

Still, he was a broad-shouldered, sturdy man. He grabbed the coffin and swayed as he got back to his feet.

Who would have thought that a huge chunk of his forehead had caved in right then and there!

Blood gushed out. A good amount of the dark red liquid splashed onto the coffin, and in an instant, it was absorbed by the vivid red wood.
