Chapter 61

“We’re all S-class, yet he pulled every one of us into a dream. What kind of anomaly could do that?” Li Buhai murmured. “At the very least… SS-class.”

Everyone’s expression turned grim.

One SS-class Water God had already left them struggling to breathe. Now there was another?

Since when had SS-class anomalies become as common as cabbages?

“The most terrifying part is that this anomaly is about to become a god,” Cao Yi said, his expression complicated and his face almost green.

Damn it. If he had known the waters ran this deep, he never would have accepted Guo Shoubo’s job.

Two wild deities were entrenched here. Aside from Sun-Swallowing Gorge, where Abyss resided, this had to be the most terrifying divine-anomaly forbidden zone in Jiangdong Province.

And now Cao Yi had trapped himself inside it!

“Another god…”

Zuo Yuanshan looked ready to collapse.

“Since when did divine authority become so commonplace?”

Divine-authority anomalous entities were vanishingly rare. The Water God’s Authority alone had been valuable enough to draw the Hall of Anomalies and Eclipse Organization here in a frenzy, fighting desperately to claim it.

Yet only a few days had passed.

This little special school had produced a second one?!

“Wait…”

Li Buhai suddenly realized something. He whirled toward Sun Xingsheng.

“Young Master Sun, to my knowledge, there is only one dream-related anomaly in all Jiangdong Province with the potential to become a god!”

The others came to the same realization and fixed Sun Xingsheng with hostile stares.

Sun Xingsheng had been smiling all along. Now he threw back his head and laughed.

“That’s right. Since things have reached this point, there’s no need to keep talking in circles!”

He rose, pride written across his face, and lifted his chin.

“The one becoming a god here is Nightmare, the SS-class anomaly who has cooperated with our Hall of Anomalies for many years!”

“He has already taken control of the Water God, and I have obtained the Divine Seal Fragment.”

“You now have one choice. Submit to me and swear your loyalty. Do that, and you may live!”

Everyone’s expression changed.

“You bastard! You set us up?”

“So you were the one behind this trap?”

They were furious.

“Do you know what happens after your dreams are devoured?” Sun Xingsheng sneered. “Let me tell you. With a single word from me and a single thought from Nightmare, all of you will die.”

“I suggest you consider your answer carefully!”

He was beside himself with triumph.

Cao Yi, Li Buhai, and the others wore extremely ugly expressions.

“We woke up, but you still haven’t. How pitiful,” Yin Rumei said, shaking her head.

“We lost only our dreams. Someone else is about to lose his life.”

The smile on Sun Xingsheng’s face froze.

Panic flashed inexplicably through him. He suddenly roared,

“Nightmare! Kill them! Kill every last one of them!”

A mass of shadow appeared behind him in answer.

Nightmare took human form.

“Didn’t you hear me?” Sun Xingsheng demanded anxiously. “I have the Divine Seal now! Do you still want divine investiture or not?”

Nightmare merely smiled and looked toward the stage.

“Well? Can we serve dessert now?”

“He just finished enjoying his beautiful dream. This is when he’ll taste best.”

Sun Xingsheng went rigid. He instinctively looked toward the stage.

Another mass of shadow was slowly taking shape there, but it was entirely different from Nightmare’s.

Nightmare’s shadow was a murky, foggy gray-black.

The shadow onstage resembled the deep night sky, an absolute and silent darkness. Fireflies seemed to flicker inside it, like stars beginning to shine.

The tiny lights gradually converged and formed a young man.

Meng Mo.

A black Dreamcatcher hung around his neck. Most of the Dreamcatcher had already merged into his body.

Meng Mo nodded.

“Yes. Once I add this dessert, my state will stabilize completely.”

He raised a hand.

Sun Xingsheng’s pupils contracted. He seemed to see countless venomous snakes descending upon him and innumerable ghosts lunging forward to devour him.

As his beautiful dream shattered, he saw horrors no ordinary person could ever comprehend.

“No… No!”

Sun Xingsheng struggled violently, but nothing helped. He collapsed, convulsing and foaming at the mouth in unbearable agony.
Everyone nearby stared, nearly stupefied.

“Someone else was the one becoming a god?”

Their gazes turned toward Meng Mo.

Since when had an anomaly at this level appeared in Jiangdong Province?

Even the SS-class Nightmare seemed to be serving him, merely offering assistance!

“I once heard that Nightmare was different from other anomalies. He produced a child. This young man must be…” Li Buhai murmured, his expression complicated. “In the end, Nightmare still outmaneuvered us.”

“Zhou Wenshen prides himself on being a master schemer. How laughable that he walked into Nightmare’s trap without ever realizing it.”

Their faces turned bleak.

Whether the Hall of Anomalies or Nightmare had plotted against them made no difference. Their fate would be the same either way.

“Don’t talk nonsense!”

Nightmare hurriedly shook his head.

“I didn’t set this up. I’m only hired help!”

After speaking, he instinctively glanced toward the back of the auditorium, looking faintly guilty.

Nightmare knew from experience that even the slightest disrespect toward Teacher Li could place him at risk of annihilation.

Now these people were treating him as the mastermind. Wouldn’t that mean he was trying to claim credit above his station?

That was courting death. He had to distance himself from the idea immediately!

The others followed his gaze and finally realized there were more people inside the auditorium.

They turned around.

Three students sat in the back row.

One was a chubby boy hugging a bag of potato chips and eating without pause.

An aloof girl studied herself in a mirror, seemingly indifferent to everything happening around her.

The third was a quiet, long-haired girl watching every person in the room. A pale-golden light seemed to shimmer in her clear eyes, lending her an air of authority.

It felt as though anyone who caused trouble would immediately receive her stern judgment.

“The Water God…”

Li Buhai stared at Lin Xiaoyu in shock.

“She really is here!”

Beside him, Yin Rumei looked past Lin Xiaoyu and swept her gaze over Nian Youyu and Bai Lu. Her expression grew intensely grave.

“Those other two… may be no weaker than the Water God and Meng Mo,” she murmured.

Everyone’s heart lurched.

One Water God and one Dream God were already defying all reason.

There were two more beings like them?!

Was this place a gathering ground for supreme anomalies?!

“Impossible… How can Jiangdong Province have so many anomalies above S-class, all gathered here?”

“What kind of place is this?!”

Their expressions were ghastly. Fear and despair had chilled them to the bone.

They had believed every major faction in Jiangdong Province moving together would be enough to crush anything before them.

Only now did they understand the true difference in strength.

They had come here merely to deliver themselves to their deaths!

“Miss Bai, Meng Mo has completed the containment. All he needs now is divine investiture. Could you ask Teacher Li to come out?” Nightmare asked.

His tone and demeanor were so humble they bordered on fawning.

Li Buhai, Zuo Yuanshan, and the others were stunned yet again.

Nightmare was a veteran SS-class anomaly. He had possessed the strength to become a wild deity long ago.

Yet he was this humble before a few students?!

Were these students even more terrifying than Nightmare?

That was absurd!

And according to Nightmare, Meng Mo and the Water God were not even the most terrifying beings here.

These anomalies had a “teacher” of their own?!

If the students were already this monstrous, what level had their teacher reached?

The group exchanged glances, chills running through their bodies.

Yin Rumei raised one elegant brow. An inexplicable sense of anticipation began to grow within her.

Based on Wang Zhong’s investigation and the intelligence from other factions, she had believed the person who granted the Water God divine investiture relied solely on a Divine Seal Fragment and possessed little strength of his own.

But now… something was wrong!

An existence capable of cultivating two gods in succession, commanding four terrifying anomalies, and making an SS-class Nightmare bow and scrape before him could never be as simple as the intelligence suggested.

Everyone looked at Bai Lu.

She merely said,

“There’s no hurry.”

“A little toad is still on his way.”

Everyone blinked in confusion. A little toad?

What was that supposed to be?

At that moment, someone burst through the doors.

“Abyss has entered the city… He’s here!”

Qin Shiyu gasped for breath.

Everyone in the auditorium stared in shock.

Abyss… had arrived!
