Chapter 64
Chapter 64
Ning Wang: “Brother, did you find that little girl?”
Still unsure which faction Ning Wang belonged to, Ning Shuo said, “No.”
“Your expression looks a little off, Brother.”
“…” Ning Shuo said, “Then did Ningning make any progress today?”
“I’m surrounded by corpses. It’s not like I can talk progress with them.”
Ning Shuo said, “You mean you spent the whole afternoon in the morgue?”
“Of course not. There just weren’t any clues around me. My luck was bad, so all I found out was which ward Nan-ge and the others were in. Nothing else for now.”
Ning Wang stopped circling him, found a clean spot, and continued chatting. “Brother, who is that little girl?”
Ning Shuo left out the matter of their opposing factions and told him about Zhu Xiangfeng and the search for the Cloth Doll. Ning Wang looked thoughtful. “So the current mission is to find the Cloth Doll and give it to Zhu Xiangfeng?”
Ning “the Cloth Doll is already in my Backpack” Shuo nodded. “When you went out this afternoon, did you see any Cloth Dolls?”
Ning Wang said, “No, but I saw Nan-ge sneak off to Lolita’s ward.”
“Did you notice anything else?”
“No. Nan-ge came out not long after going in. I don’t even know what she did in there.”
Ning Shuo nodded. “Then once you find the Cloth Doll, remember to send it to Shen Zhiwang’s office on the second floor. Zhu Xiangfeng is under his care now.”
As he spoke, he watched Ning Wang’s expression.
Ning Wang answered very naturally. “Got it. What exactly does the Cloth Doll look like?”
Judging rationally, Ning Wang did not look like he was lying.
But Ning Shuo instinctively felt something was wrong.
Was he just being too guarded?
Ning Shuo said, “I still don’t know. Maybe you could try bringing over every child’s Cloth Doll in the hospital?”
“…” Ning Wang smiled. “Brother, am I insane?”
Ning Shuo waved a hand and turned back toward the psychiatric inpatient department. “We’ll see when the time comes. If that really doesn’t work, you can ask Nan-ge. You can also find out what she was doing in Lolita’s ward while you’re at it.”
Ning Wang bought some medicine for external injuries from the shop, stuffed it into Ning Shuo’s hand, and pointed at his face. “Nan-ge probably doesn’t know where the Cloth Doll is either, right? It can’t be in Lolita’s room, can it? Even if it really is with Lolita, Nan-ge wouldn’t need to be the one to get it. This is PvE.”
“Who knows.”
Ning Shuo left. Seeing that he had no intention of explaining the faction issue, Ning Wang could not help lowering his head and laughing softly.
His acting skills had improved, but not by much.
Although his brother had not immediately realized he was lying, instinct alone had still made him suspicious.
Of course, Ning Wang had not wasted half the afternoon. When he went looking for ward numbers, Ning Shuo’s was the first one he tried to find.
Who would have thought Ning Shuo was in the psychiatric inpatient department?
Ning Wang did not have an excuse to go to the psychiatric department right then. On top of that, after seeing Qin Genan acting strangely, he simply went to find Zhuang Yao instead.
Zhuang Yao was in the gynecology department, and her role was a pregnant woman close to delivery.
She briskly pulled a small pillow out from under her clothes, then took sunglasses and a mask from her Backpack.
To avoid being recognized, the two of them also headed for pediatrics.
Unfortunately, their timing was off. When they arrived, Ning Shuo and Luo Li had just left.
When Shen Zhiwang saw Ning Wang’s face and recognized his identity, the first thing he asked them was, “What is your mission?”
…
Compared with the others, Ning Wang clearly had more information.
He did not know what had killed his current identity, so while Ning Shuo was dealing with the nurse, he had already gone through every department.
The medical records showed that apart from Ning Wang, the “corpse,” the conditions of the other four people who had checked into a room together had suddenly changed.
Ning Banxian, who had bipolar disorder, had also developed cognitive impairment.
Lolita, who had suffered from heart disease since childhood, had miraculously developed a much stronger heart. Her heart disease looked like it was about to be cured.
Nan-ge, whose lower body had originally been paralyzed, had miraculously regained feeling in both legs, though she was still a long way from being able to stand.
And Zhuang Yao, who had originally reached her due date, had a fetus that seemed to have shrunk during the examination. It was completely different from her previous checkup.
As for that, Zhuang Yao’s explanation was: “I knocked out a pregnant woman who was less far along than me, then used a high-level item to turn her into my appearance. It lasts half an hour.”
The others were fine, but Zhuang Yao’s character setting was about to fall apart right before their eyes, so she made a fuss about being discharged.
While the pregnant woman and the doctor were locked in an argument, Ning Wang appeared. “Nan-ge was right. Sister-in-law really is homesick. Sister-in-law, Nan-ge sent me to take you back.”
Afterward, Zhuang Yao asked in confusion, “Why did you pair me up with Qin Genan? Couldn’t you just call her ge directly?”
She wasn’t angry. She was purely confused.
After spending so much time with Ning Shuo, Ning Wang had picked up a touch of his chuunibyou streak too. “My brother-there is only one!”
Zhuang Yao: “…”
Zhuang Yao: “Oh.”
There were two other patients in similar situations. One was Shuishui, whose mania had suddenly worsened, also in the psychiatric department. The other was Zero, whose liver problem had been severe enough to require surgery, only for the surgery to suddenly become unnecessary; Zero was in the hepatology department.
When the Players’ login points were scattered, the Script would not give no hints at all.
The patients in Angel Hospital whose conditions were unbelievably stable were the hint.
From this, he concluded that there were seven Players in total.
That was under the circumstance that, for a moment, he had not thought of the possibility that one of the Players was a doctor.
Ning Wang, who usually had terrible luck, had hit the jackpot today. The first teammate he met up with, Zhuang Yao, was in the same faction as him. Then, to avoid the NPCs’ eyes and ears, he ran to pediatrics, and the pediatrician Shen Zhiwang turned out to be in the same faction too.
After meeting with Shen Zhiwang, the Destructive Angels faction was fully revealed.
Shen Zhiwang carefully recounted everything that had happened while Ning Shuo was there. When Ning Wang heard the line Ning Shuo left behind before leaving, he couldn’t help laughing. “That Cloth Doll is probably already gone.”
He then told them how, before going to find Zhuang Yao, he had seen Qin Genan sneaking furtively into Lolita’s room. Shen Zhiwang said, “No wonder Ning Banxian suddenly leaned against the door while we were chatting. He was taking the chance to communicate, wasn’t he?”
Zhuang Yao said, “No matter. At least we found out who our teammates are first.”
Ning Wang smiled. “The mission lasts two days and three nights. Sister Yao, based on what I know about my brother, he’ll probably have gathered all his teammates by tomorrow.”
After swiftly exchanging information, Ning Wang hurried back to the morgue and avoided the NPCs’ body count.
Fortunately, the NPCs here were humanoid and were just as eager to avoid corpses as everyone else. They would not check whether Ning Wang was truly a corpse.
Running into Ning Shuo had been an unexpected delight. When he pulled Ning Shuo into his arms, Ning Wang had every intention of playing a Traitor Wolf.
In the end, even though Ning Wang’s acting had improved, and even though Ning Shuo could not analyze it logically, Ning Shuo still sensed something was wrong with him on instinct.
After Ning Shuo left, Ning Wang lay unconcernedly among the pile of corpses.
After all, back in Li Kingdom Cold Case, Ning Wang had killed his way through who knew how many piles of corpses like this. Lying in the middle of one felt as comfortable as coming home.
Thinking of the meaningful look in Ning Shuo’s eyes, Ning Wang could not help the corners of his lips from curving up.
They really were made for each other.
…
Just as Ning Wang had expected, after Ning Shuo used Disguise to cover his wounds and escaped this round of the nurse’s intimidation, he did not obediently stay put.
He repeated his old trick. When he slipped to the second floor and was planning to jump out the window to look for the remaining teammates, he stepped out and immediately ran into another Player who was acting just as furtive.
That person clearly recognized his face and raised a hand in greeting. “Hi, I’m Yu Qian. In the Script, remember to call me Shuishui, okay?”
