Chapter 29

Ning Wang chuckled. “He certainly knows how to have a good time.”

Ning Shuo raised an eyebrow. “Is that so? Then, is Young Master Ning satisfied?”

“He’s still a bit behind me.”

On a Ferris wheel not far away, Lolita was dressed in a tea-colored classical lolita outfit. The fourteen-year-old girl looked both elegant and natural.

Lolita took a sip of coffee and said with a look of disdain, “You actually like drinking this stuff?”

In front of her, a man in a khaki trench coat held a pair of binoculars. “It helps keep me sharp.”

Lolita casually tossed her cup into the Backpack Recycle Bin and pulled a cup of milk tea from her Backpack. “Forget it. Milk tea is better suited for kids.”

“It’s too sickly sweet.”

“I heard Z likes this brand too.”

“Then it must be sweet enough to melt anyone’s heart.”

At the mention of Song Zhu, the man turned around, revealing a face deeply favored by the Creator.

Those peach blossom eyes could make even a look at a dog seem affectionate, and the mole under his eye added a touch of refined beauty. Rao Lin smirked. “If my Teacher Song likes it, then it must be delicious.”

“Not going to call it ‘sickly sweet’ anymore?”

“When did I ever say that?”

Lolita curled her lip. “You’ve been watching for so long. What did you see?”

Rao Lin looked thoughtful. “A very interesting person.”

Thinking of the person they had been discussing earlier, Lolita felt a spark of interest. “Ning Shuo?”

Rao Lin smiled. “And the NPC the System said escaped from a Script.”

“Supposedly, he has quite a connection with Ning Shuo. Are they brothers?”

“If they really were brothers, then Ning Shuo would be an NPC too. Do you think he looks like one?”

Lolita shook her head. “I had someone look into it. We can track Ning Shuo’s life in the modern world for the past two years. He doesn’t look like someone who escaped from a Script.”

Rao Lin continued, “Even if he isn’t an NPC, he looks so much like Ning Wang that they must be closely related. The Forum says they let something slip in the Live Stream Room about past and present lives-”

He waved a hand dismissively. “Though the credibility is low. If it really were a ‘past and present lives’ situation, they should have been placed in Zone ABC. Why put them in our Zone F? Let’s just treat them as brothers for now.”

Lolita said flatly, “So what are they doing now that caught your eye immediately?”

Rao Lin was silent for a moment. “It looks like they’ve conquered half the Paradise.”

Lolita: ?

Rao Lin leaped out of the Ferris wheel, using the momentum to hook onto a nearby zipline and sliding straight down.

Lolita leaned against the carriage window. “Will this affect the plan!”

Rao Lin waved his free hand. “If it does, we’ll just deal with it!”

Lolita looked at the Tablet-sized Virtual Screen beside her.

Just now, both she and Rao Lin had received a message from the System.

Because it was too long, Lolita didn’t feel like reading it and asked Rao Lin for the Abridged Version-

The general gist was: cause some trouble for Ning Shuo.

Ning Shuo was leading his parade when he suddenly caught a glimpse of a figure out of the corner of his eye.

Ning Wang remarked, “I see someone even more high-profile than you.”

Ning Shuo said nonchalantly, “Not as handsome as me. Looks like a big bird.”

He had wandered through about half the park like this when someone finally plucked up the courage to step forward. “Half-Immortal, what task are we doing?”

Ning Shuo looked confused. “What task?”

The person pressed further. “You know, the kind that’s secret, unknown to others…”

Ning Shuo’s expression suddenly turned to one of panic. “How did you know I have a…”

He looked around as if he had only just realized he was being too conspicuous. He hurriedly waved his hands. “I’m not a Secret Mission Agent!”

Despite his words, his face practically screamed: *Oh no, my identity as a Secret Mission Agent has been seen through! How am I supposed to talk my way out of this?*

If you aren’t a Secret Mission Agent, why are you panicking?

The person wanted to say more, but Ning Shuo just waved them off. “Why are you all following me? Go play!”

Players & NPCs: “…”

Didn’t you say you were going to lead us?!

The NPCs bit their tongues, silently reminding themselves that it would be more fun to save the Secret Mission Agent for the very end. Eventually, they began to disperse, while many Players hesitated for a long while.

Although a Secret Mission might allow them to ride his coattails, it was ultimately someone else’s task. Whether they could actually benefit was uncertain, and if the Big Shot really did have a Secret Mission, he might not take them along anyway.
With that, most of the Players dispersed, leaving only five or six people looking at each other, all hesitating over whether to stay or go.

A girl suddenly spoke up, “Can we… can we follow you?”

Ning Shuo shook his head. “There are too many of you. If something happens, my Knight and I can only protect one person each. In that case, we can only let two people stay at most.”

The girl hesitated. Just then, another boy said hurriedly, “Let me stay! I can do anything!”

“A man is always more useful than a woman!”

Ning Shuo glanced at him subtly.

The boy was thin and weak, and wasn’t even as tall as the girl from a moment ago.

If one had to say who was more useful, it was truly hard to tell.

Ning Shuo had originally intended to narrow down the scope to find the Secret Mission Agents. This boy didn’t look like someone with a mission; otherwise, he wouldn’t have offended others the moment he opened his mouth.

Ning Shuo smiled and said, “If we’re talking about usefulness, my Knight alone is worth ten of you.”

The boy’s face turned pale and then flushed with anger before he left indignantly.

Ning Shuo observed the remaining people, then pointed to the girl from before and another man with glasses hiding at the back of the crowd. “Would you two like to join us?”

Secret Mission Agents not only had to complete their tasks but also had to maintain secrecy. Because of this, even though some people categorized Ning Shuo as a Secret Mission Agent, they all tacitly refrained from asking, fearing that Ning Shuo might think his identity was exposed and run away.

How did a real Mission Agent view Ning Shuo?

Ning Shuo wasn’t a Secret Mission Agent, but he was high-profile, leading many to believe he was.

Since a Secret Mission Agent needed to ensure their own concealment, what better way was there to hide while completing a mission than staying by the side of a high-profile, fake Secret Mission Agent?

Perhaps a fake Mission Agent like Ning Shuo could even lend a hand.

The man with glasses was named Qi Yang, and the girl with her hair in a bun wearing a T-shirt was Zhao Zhaozhao.

Ning Shuo asked, “Is there anything you want to play, Zhaozhao?”

Ning Wang glanced at him, then patted Qi Yang on the shoulder. “Let’s go. I saw a mission point just now. Let’s go do a mission.”

Ning Shuo wore a look of hypocritical concern. “Ningning, you must protect this young man well.”

Ning Wang waved his hand. “He won’t lose a single hair.”

Zhao Zhaozhao was very quiet. When Ning Shuo asked if she had any particular strengths, she only said she was average at everything.

Ning Shuo didn’t find it awkward. He chatted about anything and everything, from Scripts to the Rest Area. Even though Zhao Zhaozhao didn’t say much in response to each question, Ning Shuo managed to get a general sense of her.

He didn’t show any urgency regarding missions. As the two sat in the bustling Paradise, there was an almost surreal sense of modern-day tranquility.

Unfortunately, Ning Wang was the spectator who appreciated this peaceful scene.

Qi Yang asked, “What are we going to play?”

He wore a plaid shirt and glasses, with clean-cut features. Ning Wang looked at him and said, “Let’s play something fast.”

…

While Ning Shuo was chatting, a man in a trench coat walked up to him. “Hello, are you interested in teaming up for a mission?”

Ning Shuo asked, “What mission?”

The man pointed toward the Ferris wheel not far away. “Over there. My sister needs to ride the rail luge with someone of the same gender. It’s a very simple mission. It doesn’t offer many Heat Points, but every little bit counts.”

“I wonder if this lady would be willing to join her?”

Since it was put that way, Zhao Zhaozhao had no reason to refuse. She went to find the shy little girl in a floral dress holding a doll nearby.

Though, for some reason, Ning Shuo read a hint of disdain beneath that superficial shyness.

As the two girls boarded the starlight-adorned rail luge, the man in the trench coat stood beside Ning Shuo and sighed, “It would be so nice if this were the modern world.”

Ning Shuo smiled faintly. “Are you two biological siblings?”

“Yeah,” the man’s appearance wasn’t particularly striking. “I entered the System first. Who knew that one day while watching a livestream, I’d actually see my sister?”
