Chapter 37

Zhang Zhi didn’t just kill people in Large-Scale Murder Mystery Games; he loved playing PvP Mode, and the role he wanted most was the Murderer.

Every time he played the Murderer and killed someone, watching them struggle and beg for mercy before death always gave him a profound sense of satisfaction.

He thought that this was probably why so many people always wanted to be emperors.

Holding the power of life and death over others was truly a wondrous thing.

The girl had fallen, piteously begging him for mercy, pleading with him not to kill her.

Her crying sounded so beautiful.

Zhang Zhi closed his eyes in intoxication. A second later, just as he was about to strike-

Something suddenly fell from the sky, landing right on top of the girl.

Zhang Zhi retreated two steps warily, seeing a man and another girl.

He weighed his own combat strength and felt that the man had some skill. He hid his knife behind his back and said politely, “Brother, are you here to kill people too?”

Zhang Zhi pointed at the unconscious girl. “That’s my prey. If you want to kill someone, you’d better find another one.”

He looked at the somewhat timid-looking girl standing with the man and chuckled. “I think the woman next to you would be pretty easy to deal with. Why not her?”

“Running around with a burden like that… aren’t you tired of it?”

The man in casual clothes turned his head to look at him. Zhang Zhi felt like the face was familiar, as if he had seen it in some Live Stream Room or a post before.

But if he had to say who this person was, Zhang Zhi had seen so many people that he couldn’t recall it for the moment.

If he couldn’t remember, he wouldn’t bother. Zhang Zhi was about to use an item to open a door and invite them to leave when he heard the man’s indifferent voice: “I am here to kill. But guess why I knocked out that girl instead of you?”

“Do you think a Murderer would let a witness who knows he’s about to commit a crime just walk away?”

Zhang Zhi’s pupils constricted. Just as he was about to strike first with his knife, a sudden pain shot through his wrist-

With a simple kick, the man sent the dagger flying from his hand.

In the next second, the dagger was in the man’s hand. Pain flared in Zhang Zhi’s limbs, and he collapsed onto the ground.

The tendons in his wrists and ankles had been severed. Under Zhang Zhi’s terrified gaze, the man handed the dagger to the girl. “Look, a ready-made corpse.”

…

The owner of the item was dead, so the item’s effect vanished.

Ning Wang took Zhao Zhaozhao and hid in a nearby cover. One by one, Players discovered the corpse. Only after about five or six people had gathered did Ning Wang lead Zhao Zhaozhao out.

The Murderer had a task to escape during the Accusation phase, which meant there had to be an Accusation.

According to Zhao Zhaozhao, if Players were involved in a Murder Case during a Large-Scale Murder Mystery Game, that Murder Case had to have a resolution.

Whether the Murderer escaped or was killed by the Clown, both counted as a resolution.

Only after a resolution was reached would the Heat the Players earned in the Large-Scale Murder Mystery Game be valid; otherwise, it would all be deducted, making the trip a waste of time.

To encourage Players to make an Accusation against the Murderer, even if the Players made a mistake, the Clown would chase the accused Player-

Large-Scale Murder Mystery Games were completely irrational; it all depended on who looked the least like an Innocent.

Ning Wang appeared to be seriously examining the corpse, but in reality, he was casually revealing the bloodstains he had deliberately smeared on his elbow.

Sure enough, a Player cried out in alarm after seeing the blood: “It’s you! You’re the Murderer!”

Following his outcry, the other Players retreated one after another, including Zhao Zhaozhao, who had agreed beforehand to pretend they didn’t know each other.

The Player who discovered the bloodstains looked at his clean hands. “You killed someone; your hands couldn’t possibly be this clean!”

He searched the surroundings and, as expected, found the jacket Ning Wang had tossed aside after using it to wipe Zhao Zhaozhao’s hands.
The jacket was the perfect size for Ning Wang’s frame, and its style matched the clothes he was currently wearing.

Ning Wang had a panicked expression on his face, practically screaming to everyone, “Yes, I’m the Murderer! Hurry up and use your Accusation on me!”

The Notary Office was located in the center of Paradise, not far from their current location. With everyone assuming Ning Wang was an Open Wolf, the Clown grinned and raised his dagger. “Wrong Accusation! Wrong!”

The Players looked on with regret, though they didn’t seem particularly sorry about the fate that was about to befall Ning Wang.

There was no other way-this case had to have a conclusion.

The Players could already see the scene of the panicked man being killed by the Clown. Who would have thought that just as the Clown’s dagger was about to fly into Ning Wang’s face, the man would suddenly vanish?

A Player’s pupils constricted. In the next instant, he heard someone beside him cry out, “He’s on the roof!”

He had flown up there!

The Player’s eyes shook with shock as he watched Ning Wang lead the Clown on a chase as if he were walking a dog.

The Clown’s physical skills weren’t bad, but its primary advantage over Ning Wang was likely the endless power supplied to it by the System.

While it took the Clown some effort to climb onto the roof, Ning Wang reached it with a light leap.

The Clown: “…”

While Ning Wang was busy kiting the Clown, Ning Shuo was busy admiring the view from the Ferris wheel.

From this height, many things came into view-including Ning Wang leading the Clown around.

Ning Shuo stretched and turned to the drowsy Qi Yang. “Young man, do you want to fly?”

Qi Yang opened his bleary eyes. “…Huh?”

As he was carried away into the air, Qi Yang screamed, “Aaaaah!!!”

Rao Lin was eating a candied hawthorn stick while researching which part of this new Paradise was the best romantic spot. He planned to bring Teacher Song here to play the next time the park opened. Suddenly, he heard some strange noises.

“The Clown is going on a killing spree!”

Rao Lin: ?

Who?

He looked over and saw all the Players surging toward an exit. Then, a familiar figure appeared, jumping up and down like a monkey.

Luo Li, a bubble tea straw in her mouth, mumbled, “That’s Ning Shuo’s younger brother.”

“No, there’s another one,” Rao Lin said.

He pointed at the colorful shadow behind Ning Wang. “That’s the Clown.”

Luo Li’s expression didn’t change. She even gave Rao Lin a comforting pat on the back. “Don’t be sad. They’re just completing the feat you failed to achieve back then-kiting the Clown.”

Rao Lin snorted. “I would have forgotten about that if you hadn’t mentioned it.”

Luo Li looked at him with pity. “Don’t hypnotize yourself. You just don’t want to remember your failure.”

Rao Lin: …

Rao Lin gave a fake smile. “Little Flower, do you still want to go watch the show?”

Luo Li squeezed her hand so hard she almost squirted her milk tea out.

She silently recited her Patience Mantra, then reached out to Rao Lin with a smile. “Li Hua, carry me.”

The rumor that “the Clown is going on a killing spree” had been started by Ning Shuo and manifested by Ning Wang’s kiting.

The Clown couldn’t catch Ning Wang, so it developed a new tactic: throwing daggers at him.

This worked out perfectly. Ning Wang didn’t even need to lead it anymore; he simply ran toward the NPCs.

The NPCs weren’t pushovers. When a dagger flew past, one of them turned pale with shock. “Joker, can’t you aim a little better?!”

The NPCs all knew the Clown’s skill level. Missing once or twice might be bad luck, but having every subsequent dagger fly toward them was life-threatening.

The NPCs who had been targeted looked on with ill intent. “What’s going on? Does the System want to get rid of us?”

“I heard before that the Clown killed the Emperor NPC in the Li Kingdom script. Is the System trying to repeat the shuffle from back then?”
