Chapter 151
Chapter 151
Ning Shuo spent more than three months piecing himself back together.
The Water Moon Mirror had been reduced to powder, so compared to when it had only shattered into fragments before, the restoration process was much slower.
And because Ning Shuo himself had also dissipated when the Water Moon Mirror turned to dust, it took quite a while for him to come back as well.
During that time, he had 001 and 002 to thank.
Using the excuse of protecting the data fragments of Ning Shuo’s body, 002 repeatedly tried to dissect and study him. After being stopped by 001 again and again, he could only regretfully go back to making an artificial body for Shu Xiao.
This was 002’s first experiment in making a human. The client was Shu Xiao’s younger brother, Shu Yan.
For a pharmaceutical madman, this was both novel and highly challenging, so 002 happily added it to his daily routine.
002’s daily routine:
1. Test drugs on Apuleer morning, noon, and night, and enjoy his suffering to increase his own sense of pleasure. (✓)
2. Check whether the various tissues and bodily functions of the body being made for Shu Xiao were fully developed. (✓)
3. Conduct pharmaceutical research every day. (✓)
4. Dissect and study Ning Shuo’s body. (Temporarily shelved due to interference from 001)
Once the data making up Ning Shuo’s body was nearly complete, the fourth item was finally abandoned for good.
On the day of Start of Autumn, Ning Shuo’s body was finally fully restored. The data chamber maintaining his bodily data opened, and 001 said with a smile, “More than three months. You finally woke up.”
Ning Shuo touched his chest. There, the restored Water Moon Mirror had, just as it had in the World-Descent Rule, merged back into his body.
He drew his brows together. “Thank you. May I ask how I can go back?”
Unlike the others, who retained memories of these past three months, Ning Shuo’s consciousness had not yet fully cleared. But already, the image of Ning Wang reaching out to grab him, smiling through tears as he asked Ning Shuo for a flower, had surfaced in his mind.
Ning Shuo turned his head and saw his own face reflected on the data chamber’s screen.
Instinctively, he curved his lips into a smile-the exact same angle as the one from that day, when Ning Wang had tried to pull him back.
001 brought up a Virtual Screen. “You actually woke up at a pretty good time. Remember what I told you before? About how two souls can’t exist in the same world, or they’ll be automatically erased by the laws of the Heavenly Dao?”
“I remember.”
“Good. Solving your problem actually isn’t hard, but it requires someone on the same level as the world’s laws to interfere. For example, they could say hello to that world first, then send you in and let you stay there permanently. Get it?”
Thinking of the god 001 had previously mentioned to Shu Yan, the one who might be able to save Shu Xiao, Ning Shuo made a reasonable guess. “The Heavenly Dao God?”
“Bingo!”
The three thousand worlds each had their own operating laws. Some of the gods responsible for maintaining those laws had already fallen, while others had survived to this day.
Ning Shuo thought to himself that the World Management Bureau really did have some impressive connections if they could even get in touch with a Heavenly Dao God. “Then what did you mean by saying I woke up at a good time…?”
“Oh, because the World Management Bureau doesn’t have a direct communication channel with that lord. And on top of that, he and his partner were traveling through another world, so it took us more than three months to finally contact him.”
“…” All right. So it wasn’t exactly that close of a connection.
“Then has he arrived now?”
A new message popped up on the Virtual Screen right then. 001 let out an “Oh?” and started heading out. “Not just him. His partner came with him too.”
001 left, telling him he could look around the World Management Bureau if he wanted. He also reminded him to watch out for someone called 002, and not to believe a single thing he said.
Ning Shuo wandered around for a bit and saw a man with a gentle temperament.
The man was dressed in simple casual clothes, a cat in his arms as he happily stroked its fur. With every pass of his hand, the look on his face grew a little more satisfied.
Seeing how focused he was on petting the cat, Ning Shuo quietly slipped away, only to run straight into 001, whom he had just parted with.
The moment 001 saw the man, he greeted him with a smile. “My lord, we finally found you.”
Ning Shuo: ?
He stared at the man in shock. The man was completely unpretentious, utterly content just petting a cat, and Ning Shuo suddenly thought that some novels really had misled him. They had given him the rigid stereotype that a Heavenly Dao God had to be stern, solemn, and carry that lofty immortal air.
Well, stern and solemn definitely didn’t apply. But when the man stood up with the cat in his arms, that immortal bearing was indeed there in full.
“Hello, 001. Long time no see.”
He looked toward Ning Shuo and smiled faintly. “This one is dressed differently from the others in your bureau. Is he the person you mentioned?”
“Yes, my lord. We may need your help giving that world’s Heavenly Dao a heads-up…”
“No need for anything that troublesome. That world’s operation has already matured. It no longer has a Heavenly Dao God.” The man lifted a finger slightly, and a streak of green light flowed into Ning Shuo’s body.
There was no discomfort at all. On the contrary, the moment the green light entered him, it felt like being bathed in warm sunlight.
“Just add a unique anchor point to his soul so he can be distinguished from the other one. The laws won’t interfere.”
Once he was done, the man was ready to leave, but then he seemed to remember something and said to Ning Shuo, “How about we take you back?”
Ning Shuo smiled and accepted. “I’d be honored.”
He had assumed “we” meant this lord and 001.
He had only been half right-the lord was one of them, but the other person wasn’t 001.
When Ning Shuo saw him, the handsome man in red was already holding the lord’s hand. Leaning close to his ear, he said in a voice that sounded like a declaration of ownership, “Master, this disciple doesn’t want to sleep in the study tonight.”
Yan Hui looked utterly confused. “But haven’t you always slept with me?”
Shi Lou only smiled and said nothing.
Seeing through his intentions, Ning Shuo greeted him with a smile. “Hello, I’m Ning Shuo. Married.”
He put a little extra emphasis on the word “married,” and only then did the man’s gaze shift away from Yan Hui. “Hello, I’m Shi Lou.”
Only then did Yan Hui realize he hadn’t introduced himself. “I forgot to introduce myself. I’m Yan Hui, and this is my lover.”
Yan Hui and Shi Lou had learned that the World-Descent Rule had been damaged internally and that countless living beings had returned to the 21st Century, so they had planned to take a look at that world, check whether any loopholes had appeared, and, while they were at it, send Ning Shuo back.
After discovering that a major organization called the Sinless Bureau had already taken control of the situation-and was handling the pace quite well-they flew off.
Unlike Ning Shuo’s Lightness Skill, they were truly flying: turning into a wisp of cloud and smoke and drifting toward the horizon before vanishing from where they stood.
Before disappearing, Shi Lou even gave Ning Shuo a cellphone. In Yan Hui’s eyes, that was considerate to the extreme; in Ning Shuo’s eyes, it was just Shi Lou not wanting Yan Hui to have too much contact with him.
Ning Shuo wasn’t sure whether anyone was still using his phone number, but if Rong Xi had taken Ning Wang to his residence, then Ning Wang should have his phone on him.
He had once written a novel whose protagonist was a gardener. For that, he had bought a greenhouse to raise all kinds of flowers and even hired a gardener to care for them while he learned at the side.
Ning Shuo had specifically asked Yan Hui and the others to send him there.
The call connected after only two rings. The breathing on the other end was very light, as if the person were simply waiting for Ning Shuo to speak first.
Ning Shuo called with a smile, “Ningning, come pick me up.”
