Chapter 55
Chapter 55
Qiao Yu didn’t stay depressed for long before he talked himself around.
Shang Yan was gorgeous anyway. As for who was really taking advantage of whom here-well, anyone with eyes knew the answer. He’d just treat it as getting a freebie!
Mm. Thinking about it that way really did make him feel much better.
Shang Yan lowered his eyes to look at the little cowlick sticking up from the top of Qiao Yu’s head, and his palm couldn’t help but itch.
He had just raised his hand, eager to give it a try, when the person in front of him suddenly took a step back and nimbly dodged.
“What are you doing? If you don’t want that paw anymore, just say so. I’ll chop it off for you!”
Shang Yan: “……”
No, wait. Hadn’t everything been fine just now? How did he turn hostile so fast??
Shang Yan felt deeply wronged.
Qiao Yu had no intention of paying him any mind. He tugged at Shang Yan’s arm and said bluntly, “Lead the way! If I keep soaking in this water, I’m going to swell up.”
Shang Yan: “……….”
Only after the two of them climbed out of that enormous pool did Qiao Yu have the leisure to observe this so-called Punishment Room.
At the back of the Punishment Room was a large pool, where unknown fish with sharp teeth were being raised. They seemed to be carnivorous, too.
All sorts of whips, rulers, and even spiked clubs hung on the walls… Those things were huge, covered in upright barbs. If someone took a hit from one of those, they’d be crippled even if they didn’t die.
It was hard to imagine these things were all meant for “disobedient” students.
Qiao Yu slowly walked toward the door. By accident, he stepped on something and nearly fell.
He quickly steadied himself and aimed his flashlight at the unidentified lump on the ground. Only then did he realize there was actually a girl wearing a blue school uniform lying there… er, a ghost.
A fruit knife was stuck in the female ghost’s neck. That seemed to be what had made the sound earlier, and then it had apparently been sent flying by one swing of Shang Yan’s chain.
Qiao Yu crouched down and tugged at the fruit knife. The female ghost lying on the ground unconsciously furrowed her brows.
“Hey, wake up?” Qiao Yu shook the knife hard again.
The female ghost still lay on the ground, stubbornly refusing to open her eyes.
That just went to show how much force Shang Yan had put into that swing…
Watching a creature that had already turned into a ghost play dead was honestly not all that interesting.
After looking for a while, Qiao Yu withdrew his gaze and reached toward the zipper of her school uniform. Before he could succeed, the guy beside him grabbed his wrist.
“What are you doing?”
Qiao Yu rolled his eyes. “There’s a piece of paper in her clothes. I’m just checking what it is. What, do you think I’m going to molest a female ghost?”
Shang Yan glanced at him, then deigned to bend down. Two long, slender fingers reached toward the zipper on the female ghost’s uniform, and without touching so much as an extra millimeter of fabric, his nimble fingers successfully pinched out the folded sheet of paper.
Female ghost: “…..?”
Qiao Yu: “…..”
This guy had to be seriously ill!
He couldn’t be bothered to waste words on him. He took the paper and opened it to read.
Unexpectedly, it was an autopsy report.
[Name: Tang Ling.
Age: 18.
Sex: Female.
Time since death: Approximately 1 year.
Cause of death: A fruit knife severed a major artery. Minced flesh was found under the fingernails and, after identification, was determined to be human surface tissue. The deceased is suspected to have been in a dispute with someone before death. Preliminary suspicion: homicide.]
After Qiao Yu finished reading, he aimed his phone at the female ghost again and caught sight of the words “Class F, No. 56” marked on her school uniform.
Wasn’t No. 56 the female student who had supposedly eloped?
It seemed she really had been murdered. As for the excuse about her eloping, that was most likely some stupid idea the school had come up with to shirk responsibility.
Then who exactly had killed Tang Ling?
Who had she gotten into a dispute with?
If it had been a student or a member of the school staff, the school wouldn’t have needed to tell such a colossal lie just to cover up the truth…
That meant the perpetrator probably had a major connection to the school. If exposed, it might even have a very negative impact on the school’s reputation. So the question of who had killed Tang Ling was crucial.
His thoughts reached a dead end, so Qiao Yu simply gave up. He placed the autopsy report back beside the female ghost and said, “Let’s leave it here. That’ll make it easier for the other streamers to find this clue.”
Shang Yan chuckled when he heard that, feeling like all this was a little unnecessary. What normal streamer would go looking for trouble by coming to the Punishment Room on purpose?
The two of them searched around the Punishment Room for a while, but they didn’t find any other useful clues, so they decisively left the pitch-black place.
Of course, they still used Qiao Yu’s lock-picking method.
This time, Qiao Yu wasn’t the least bit scared. The wire moved slowly inside the keyhole, his pale, slender fingers fluttering through the air as if he were showing off.
-…The streamer is so childish!
-Aren’t boys just like that? They get ridiculously childish in front of someone they like.
-Li Xiaoqin: Heh. Love-struck idiot.
When Qiao Yu saw the comments in the Live Stream Room, he immediately sped up his hands.
How did this get dragged back to being love-struck again??
I was obviously trying to piss him off, okay!
Unbelievable!
After they left the Punishment Room, they were still in that dim corridor. On both sides were Detention Rooms with their doors tightly shut.
The two walked in silence all the way to the end. Qiao Yu reached out and pushed the wall in front of him, only to discover that this time, the wall was actually solid.
Good thing… he hadn’t recklessly slammed his head into it.
“What now?”
Qiao Yu instinctively looked at Shang Yan.
Shang Yan shrugged. “No idea.”
“Aren’t you a veteran streamer?”
“Even a veteran streamer can’t walk through walls without props.”
Qiao Yu said, “You really are one useless man. Besides making my life harder, you’re nothing.”
Shang Yan: “…”
That was a bit much.
Just as the two were arguing, footsteps suddenly came from ahead. The wall before them began turning translucent, and they could vaguely see members of the Execution Squad heading this way from not far off.
At the sight, Qiao Yu grabbed Shang Yan and tried to run. But after taking two steps, he realized this was a straight corridor leading all the way to the end. Where could they even hide?
He immediately turned around, took out his wire again, picked the nearest Detention Room, and ducked inside.
After going through these two Instances, Qiao Yu’s lock-picking skills seemed to have returned to their peak from his previous life. He was almost too practiced.
The first thing Shang Yan said after entering was, “Your skills haven’t faded at all. Been practicing a lot lately, huh?”
Qiao Yu decided to just give up on keeping up appearances. “Can you stop prying into a handsome guy’s business?”
The moment he finished speaking, a third voice suddenly cut in. “How did you two get in?”
Qiao Yu turned toward the voice and discovered it was actually the No. 03 streamer who had been put in detention that morning for being late.
She was sitting cross-legged on the floor, and both in front of her and behind her were mirror walls bright enough to reflect a person clearly.
Only then did Qiao Yu realize that all four sides of this room were mirrors, including the ceiling and the floor.
Staying in a room like this, no matter where you looked, all you saw was yourself. An indescribably eerie feeling instantly rose in his heart.
It was still fine for a short time, but after a while, it might truly make someone afraid.
The female streamer No. 03 seemed a little off. The way she looked at them was like she was releasing a powerful electromagnetic field; no matter how hard she tried to hide the enthusiasm in her eyes, some of it still leaked through.
Qiao Yu unconsciously tightened his grip on his collar and took a few steps back.
After the female streamer noticed Qiao Yu’s discomfort, she quickly looked away as if to cover it up, lowering her head and focusing on fiddling with the few old copper coins on the floor.
Shang Yan’s gaze on the female streamer carried a hint of deeper meaning. “Five Emperor Coins?”
The female streamer was startled. She looked up. “Oh? Someone who knows his stuff.”
“Are you from that side?” Shang Yan asked. Then, on guard, he took a step aside and blocked Qiao Yu completely behind him.
Qiao Yu looked at the back of the beautiful young man’s head in front of him-one that still hadn’t grown to a hundred and ninety centimeters yet-and tilted his neck. “What are Five Emperor Coins, and what do you mean by ‘that side’? What kind of riddles are you two playing… Hey! Can you stop blocking me?”
Shang Yan: “…”
He’d forgotten. This guy was one meter eighty, with rebellion in every centimeter from one seventy-nine upward.
