Chapter 101
Chapter 101
Shang Yan frowned and let out a muffled grunt from deep in his throat.
His entire spine had slammed hard into the metal shelving, sending a burning pain through his back.
Qiao Yu’s eyes, however, were red as he stared fixedly at Shang Yan’s neck, unable to look away, as if his gaze had been glued there.
“Qiao Yu?”
Qiao Yu was still swallowing nonstop.
What little reason he had left was cursing Nine Lives Live Stream in his head.
The side effects of the title-he had never imagined they would be this terrifying. He also had no idea how long this state would last. What if he wanted to bite Shang Yan every time he saw him?
“What’s wrong with you?” Shang Yan narrowed his eyes at him. From his eyes to the rims around them, everything was flushed red, as though he had suffered some great grievance.
Then… Qiao Yu bared his teeth at him.
Shang Yan: “……”
The side effect of the title?
Come to think of it, when he had unlocked Qiao Yu’s Live Stream Room earlier, what he saw was Qiao Yu dressed up like a little zombie…
Shang Yan quickly figured it out. He tilted his head and looked at Qiao Yu thoughtfully.
That motion forced the curve of his neck to stretch longer. Blood flowed through the pale blue veins beneath his skin, and the air itself seemed to grow hazy with that sweet scent.
“Get away from me!” Qiao Yu turned his head aside, his voice strained, yet his gaze still wandered over the other man’s neck, looking utterly reluctant to part from it.
But Shang Yan lowered his lashes and reached out to lift the chin of the person before him. In an unhurried voice, he asked, “Want to bite?”
Qiao Yu went, “Huh?” His eyes were still terribly red.
Just then, a familiar clacking sound came from the corridor. The dull thuds of a cane striking the floor carried a strong, rhythmic beat.
“Xiuyun, Xiuyun!”
The empty echoes swelled endlessly beside his ears, like urging… like clamoring.
Clamoring for him to bite through the neck of the person in front of him. He knew that right now, he could easily pierce the other man’s blood vessels…
Suddenly, a patch of fair skin filled Qiao Yu’s vision. Shang Yan’s long, slender fingers slowly traced the curve along the side of his own neck, his voice carrying a bewitching lilt. “Come on. You can bite me.”
Qiao Yu: ??
“Be good. Bite down, and it won’t feel so bad anymore.”
-WTF?! Isn’t this way too doting…?
-Aaaah, I can’t even watch a stream without being force-fed dog food. Even the ghosts around me have partners. I want to fall in love too… Why was I single when I was alive, and still single after I died? Waaah, no, I don’t accept this. I’m throwing a tantrum!
-I know why you’re single. It’s simple. If they gave you their partners, would you want them?
-……
-Hahaha, that hits the nail on the head.
The instant his sharp teeth pierced skin, the thick warmth of blood spread through his mouth. Qiao Yu even felt an unusual kind of pleasure from it.
As his eyes curved in satisfaction, he sighed inwardly.
Shang Yan… deep down, he was actually kind of unhinged, wasn’t he?
Only someone like him could stay so calm at a time like this, obediently standing in place and letting Qiao Yu bite him.
What normal person could do something like this?
Shang Yan glanced sideways at Qiao Yu’s blissed-out little expression. He seemed to be enjoying this moment immensely.
This moment of being needed by Qiao Yu…
The sixth floor had been thrown into chaos by that Old Ghost. When Qiao Yu came out, he saw the old man still going door to door in search of Comrade Xiuyun.
Qiao Yu ignored him. The Old Ghost didn’t have much killing intent; his head was full of that “Xiuyun.” Let him make his fuss.
Suddenly, a loud crash rang out from the ward beside him. Qiao Yu reached out and pushed open the door to Ward 612. Inside, the room was a mess. The kettle on the table had been knocked over, and hot water mixed with shards of the broken glass liner had spilled all over the floor…
The streamer was clutching his neck, looking as if he could barely breathe.
Qiao Yu walked to the bedside and glanced at the nursing label: coronary heart disease.
The next second, having received the notice, Pen Spirit rushed in behind the head nurse.
After entering, the head nurse went to the patient. Pen Spirit, a complete medical idiot, had enough self-awareness not to go forward and make things worse. Instead, she came over to Qiao Yu’s side.
In the middle of it, she casually lifted her eyes and glanced at him, only to turn pale with shock. “Y-you-you… did you eat a dead kid?”
Qiao Yu: “…My tastes aren’t that extreme.”
“Then what’s that on your lips?” Pen Spirit leaned closer after speaking and sniffed. Her eyes widened in disbelief. “This is obviously human blood… You heartless little thing, you’ve actually fallen this low!”
Qiao Yu rubbed the corner of his mouth with his thumb. Only when he saw that glaring smear of red did he raise an eyebrow, amusement in his eyes. “Oh, you mean this blood… You’ve never dated, so you wouldn’t understand. My partner and I play a little wild. It’s called spicing things up.”
Pen Spirit: “…”
I was kindly worrying about you, and you shove dog food down my throat?
Also… when did you get back together with your ex-boyfriend behind my back?
What breed of lovesick fool even is this?!
“Chatting at a time like this? Pay docked.”
Pen Spirit immediately grew unhappy. “Head nurse, if you dock any more, there won’t be anything left!”
The head nurse’s face darkened. “Then hurry over and help me get him onto the cot. The patient in Bed 612 can’t hold on much longer. We need to operate immediately!”
Pen Spirit went over reluctantly to push the bed. The head nurse turned to Qiao Yu again. “Doctor Qiao, you’re still in your internship stage, so another doctor should be the lead surgeon.”
Qiao Yu nodded indifferently. “I’m fine with whatever.”
It wasn’t like he knew how anyway. If he made one cut, forget keeping the patient alive-even dying cleanly might not be guaranteed.
That would be pretty torturous.
And just like that, the streamer from Ward 612 was pushed into the operating room.
Qiao Yu made a round through the corridor. Seeing that there was nothing else to do, he turned and went downstairs to mooch off the TV.
He turned it on, and it was still playing financial news.
“According to reliable sources, the chairman of Dongzhou Solid Wood was taken to the hospital in the early hours of this morning and is very likely to become vegetative. The board of Dongzhou Solid Wood held a press conference overnight…”
“According to reliable sources, at today’s Jiade Auction, the chairman of Zhiyang Technology and the person in charge of Mingxuan Pharmaceuticals got into a sudden, endless argument for unknown reasons and are suspected of suffering severe mental issues. After the news spread, the stock prices of Zhiyang Technology and Mingxuan Pharmaceuticals fell…”
“According to reliable sources…”
No, seriously, was this financial news or celebrity gossip?
What, did all these rich people make appointments to get sick on the same day?
Weird!
Qiao Yu was still wondering about it when finally, a news item that wasn’t about some tycoon falling ill appeared.
“Yuanyang Consortium has now reached a preliminary partnership agreement with Shengshi Consortium. The two parties will…”
On the screen was an image of two middle-aged men shaking hands. Just then, Old Ghost suddenly charged down the stairs like a storm, cane held high, pointed at Tang Shenghong on the TV, and launched into a tirade.
“You little bastard, you cold-blooded, heartless son of a bitch @#¥%… Why aren’t you in prison working a sewing machine yet? Heaven really is blind…”
Qiao Yu: “…”
Wait, this old guy was pretty up-to-date. He even knew about prison sewing machines?
Qiao Yu couldn’t hold back his curiosity and asked, “Why do you hate him so much?”
“He treated Xiuyun badly! He’s an ungrateful, cold-blooded little bastard!” the old man cursed furiously.
“I’ve been meaning to ask you. Xiuyun… who exactly is she?”
“Xiuyun is my wife!”
??
Qiao Yu narrowed his eyes and pressed, “Then you are…”
Suddenly, the old man raised his cane high, stood ramrod straight, and said with a mysterious look on his face, “Can’t you tell? I… am a streetlamp.”
Qiao Yu: “…”
Damn it, lunatic!
Sure enough, this old man wasn’t normal.
