Chapter 1
Chapter 1
When I went downstairs to take out the trash just now, I ran into the super hot guy from upstairs in 802 again.
The moment the elevator doors opened, I saw him leaning inside, all lazy and relaxed.
His long black trench coat showed off his tall, fit frame to perfection. At a glance, he had to be around six-foot-two.
Long legs, cool pale skin, a pair of gold-rimmed glasses-he looked aloof, restrained, and utterly untouchable. In other words, exactly my type. I was practically drooling on the inside.
Unfortunately, the tender little sprout of love that had only just grown in my heart half an hour ago was quickly pinched dead by the old lady next door.
She told me the people living upstairs were a married couple.
Which meant the hot guy was taken-and had married young.
“What a shame. What a waste. If only he were single!”
I lay in bed, unable to stop lamenting, then sprang up like a carp flipping out of water to cut off those unrealistic thoughts.
Coveting someone else’s husband was immoral. Stop right there!
Unexpectedly, before I could even finish sitting up, waves of dizziness hit me. Then a sudden creak, creak, creak sounded out, like a bed rocking and scraping against the floor.
What was going on?
Completely baffled, I reached out and touched my own bed.
Solid as a rock. Not moving at all!
Before I could figure it out, another moan came through.
In disbelief, I pressed a hand to my forehead.
Burning hot. At least thirty-eight degrees Celsius.
Was my fever making me delirious? Was I hallucinating?
Even then, surely I wouldn’t be hallucinating the sounds of a man and woman doing the deed!
I yanked off my blanket in despair. The apartment I’d spent all my savings on had soundproofing this terrible?
My heart ached!
The only people next door were the old lady and her grandson, so the sounds could only be coming from upstairs.
Bad soundproofing was one thing, but making a lonely, single young woman listen to this in the middle of the night?
Was that appropriate?
Was that moral?
The hot guy I’d just fallen for this morning-just like that, the illusion was shattered.
How could heaven be so cruel to me?
I clutched my chest, heartbroken to the point I could barely breathe.
I had to admit, though, that hot guy was pretty fierce.
So passionate. So impressive. It would have been even better if I weren’t the one being tortured by it.
In the middle of the night, I lay on my bed with a blank stare. This was already the third time.
“Where’s my medicine?”
Medicine?
The hot guy’s voice was thunderously loud, penetrating the floor and entering my ears with perfect clarity.
I snapped wide awake.
Amazing. Wasn’t he afraid of draining himself dry?
But I couldn’t take it anymore.
Annoying.
While they were finally taking a break, I quickly pulled out my phone, opened the property management WeChat group I’d joined that morning, and found the WeChat account of the owner of E Building, Unit 802.
The hot guy had rather unusual taste. His profile picture was a bowl of fried noodles, which was honestly hard to connect with his cold, untouchable image.
He hadn’t set up friend verification, so I added him very quickly.
“Hi, you’re the resident of E Building, Unit 802, right?”
When it came time to send the next message, I hesitated. How could I say it clearly but tactfully?
After thinking for a few seconds, I sent: “Can you two keep it down when you’re doing it?”
“You’re making so much noise I can’t sleep…”
To my shock, the reply that came back nearly crashed my feverish thirty-eight-degree brain on the spot.
He replied: “I’m working overtime at the office.”
Working overtime?
Then who was upstairs getting hot and heavy with his wife?
I sat bolt upright from my sickbed, so startled I dropped my phone. My nose, which had been completely blocked by snot, suddenly caught the scent of piping-hot gossip.
The next second, WeChat chimed. I picked up my phone and saw that he had transferred me eight hundred yuan.
Him: “Bro, help me block the door. I’ll be there right away.”
Bro?
I didn’t explain. As someone who had just spent all her savings buying an apartment, I was currently painfully short on cash.
Besides, if I helped him catch the cheater successfully, wouldn’t that mean I would never have to listen to live porn in the middle of the night again?
A win-win situation. I couldn’t help giving my own intelligence a thumbs-up!
I accepted the money at lightning speed, afraid he’d change his mind.
With excellent professional ethics, I quickly replied: “Got it, boss. Today, not even a mosquito is getting out!”
