Chapter 7
Chapter 7
The dinner table was covered with dish after dish.
My advisor sat across from us, constantly adding food to my bowl.
“Xie Yi made this. Have some more.”
I stared at the mountain piling up in my bowl.
Suddenly, I regretted going to chat with KFC Grandpa today.
Sure enough, one should never get too greedy.
Between KFC Grandpa and my dream guy, the obvious choice was to have both!
Even though I was already half full, I still tried a lot of the dishes Xie Yi had made.
I had to admit, Xie Yi was really good at cooking.
It was just that I was far too stuffed.
Just when I thought victory was in sight and I was finally about to clear out everything in my bowl,
my advisor smiled and placed another drumstick into it.
“Eat more. Watching you eat really gives one an appetite.”
I stared at the drumstick, on the verge of tears. My eyes glistened. “Thank you, my advisor.”
She smiled in relief, thinking I was touched.
In reality, I didn’t dare move.
I felt like the meat I’d eaten had already risen all the way to my throat.
One more glance at that drumstick and I was going to feel sick.
Just as I had no idea how to explain it to my advisor,
a pair of chopsticks picked the drumstick out of my bowl.
Xie Yi’s cool, clear voice sounded. “I took her to have some KFC earlier. She can’t eat that much.”
Wuwuwu, Xie Yi was way too gentle. He even explained for me.
I shot him a grateful look.
My advisor clearly hadn’t expected that either and froze on the spot.
I lowered my head, feeling a little embarrassed.
Then I heard my advisor’s warm laughter. “You child. If you couldn’t eat anymore, why didn’t you say so earlier? Why be so polite with your teacher?”
I looked up at the helpless yet indulgent look in my advisor’s eyes and smiled with my lips pressed together.
After that, my advisor stopped urging me to eat.
She was afraid I would feel awful from overeating.
Sure enough, on the way back, I started feeling off.
A dull ache began in my lower abdomen.
I rubbed my stomach, feeling bloated inside.
I was probably just too full.
On top of that, I was a little carsick, which made my stomach feel even worse.
I looked at Xie Yi’s profile as he focused on driving and thought I could just tough it out.
I had just closed my eyes, hoping to fall asleep so I wouldn’t feel so miserable,
when a palm settled over my stomach.
I opened my eyes in confusion.
Only then did I realize Xie Yi had pulled the car over at some point.
His deep eyes were fixed on me, but his movements were extremely gentle.
“What’s wrong? Does your stomach hurt?”
Even his voice was as soft as a summer breeze.
But I didn’t have time to answer. My stomach suddenly churned violently.
I rushed out of the car and threw up into a trash can.
The world spun around me, and I felt absolutely awful.
Only after I had thrown up nearly everything in my stomach did I finally feel a little better.
When I took the tissue Xie Yi handed me, embarrassment belatedly washed over me.
I was about to thank him,
but I was afraid the smell from my mouth would hit him.
I took two steps back, covered my mouth with the tissue, and mumbled a thank-you.
But Xie Yi seemed not to mind at all. He took two steps forward instead.
Then he handed me the water in his hand.
“Drink some water and rinse your mouth. Do you still feel sick?”
I took the water and drank several mouthfuls, forcing down the nausea in my stomach.
When I lowered my head, I saw that some filth had splattered onto my shoes as well.
I was just about to ask Xie Yi for a few more tissues when I saw him crouch down.
He carefully wiped my shoes with a tissue.
From where I stood, all I could see was the fluffy crown of his head.
They always said people who did research went bald, so why was Xie Yi’s hair still so thick?
I couldn’t resist reaching out and secretly patting it twice.
Inside, I was practically cheering with joy.
Seeing that he didn’t react, my hand itched to try the same trick again.
But the person himself caught me red-handed.
Xie Yi held my wrist and leaned closer to me gently.
Yet the words that came out were not nearly as gentle. “Lin Yiyi, do you know you can’t just touch a guy’s head whenever you want?”
