Chapter 2
Chapter 2
I got myself together and headed out for KFC.
A boyfriend was optional. But on a Thursday, having a little heart-to-heart with Colonel Sanders was my sacred duty.
The noon sun was absolutely brutal.
Luckily, the KFC was very close to my dorm.
When I went in, the place was packed. There were even couples everywhere.
What was going on? Why weren’t these couples at the movies or a hotel? Why were they coming to KFC for a date?
Was that appropriate?
Then I saw one couple where the guy had arranged chicken nuggets into a heart for the girl.
The girl was so touched she covered her face.
I clearly saw her mouth move.
She was probably saying: dumbass.
Heh. Spare me the real gestures and the fake ones.
When a woman covers her mouth, she’s performing hard enough to make you cry.
I turned and went upstairs.
I couldn’t keep looking at those little couples. It hurt my eyes.
After sitting down by a window, I took out my phone and placed my order.
Egg tarts, chicken nuggets, hot wings…
Only children make choices. I wanted them all.
After putting my bag on the table to save my seat,
I went downstairs to pick up my food.
When I came back up with my tray, I found a guy sitting across from my spot.
Looking at his tall, slender, clean-cut back, I somehow felt like he looked familiar.
I walked over. Sure enough, he was a handsome little guy I didn’t know at all.
When he saw me, he smiled gently. “Sorry, this seat is taken.”
No, seriously. It was bad enough that all you couples were fighting me for KFC. Now you were stealing my seat too?
I glanced at the bag I’d left on the table to claim the spot and said irritably, “That’s my bag. I saved this seat first.”
The handsome guy looked awkward for a second, then smiled again. “Sorry, I didn’t see it.”
I felt bad for his girlfriend. She’d actually found herself a blind man.
Such a big bag was sitting right there on the table, and he hadn’t seen it.
“Sorry, I’m waiting for my girlfriend. There are two of us. Could you switch seats with me? There’s a single seat over there.”
I followed his gaze.
There was a one-person seat next to the restroom.
As if I would agree to that. My floor-to-ceiling window seat versus a seat with a heavy flavor profile?
Who would trade?
“No one’s sitting across from me. You can move a chair over.”
The handsome guy became completely embarrassed.
Seeing that I really had no intention of showing mercy and had already sat down, he could only slink away in defeat.
