Chapter 7
Chapter 7
Damn it! The original owner was actually ranked one thousandth-and that was one thousandth in the entire school. I’d never seen a ranking like that in my life.
When I got back to the classroom, everyone’s eyes seemed glued to me.
As I passed Fu Lei, he looked at me out of the corner of his eye while sprawled over his desk, pretending to do homework.
I pulled out my chair and sat down. He didn’t say a word.
The monthly exam was tomorrow. I was pretty confident, but I still didn’t really know what Xiao Ling’s grades were like.
All I knew was that on the bulletin board, it looked like he’d once ranked twentieth in the city or something. In any case, he wasn’t top five.
So what was I afraid of?
After school, Zou Wen came to wait for me again.
She asked quietly, “Were you the one who put the thumbtacks in Song Xiaoxue’s shoes?”
“I don’t even know when she ever took her shoes off.”
I took out my phone. “Besides, she’s the one who keeps making trouble for me. She dragged me into a group chat and cursed me out for three whole days.”
I was scrolling through the chat history for Zou Wen when a slender, well-defined hand snatched my phone away.
I looked up and saw Zhou Yanfei frowning, his gaze fixed on me in clear displeasure.
“What are you doing?”
“Are you asking me?”
“Who else would I be asking? Does anyone else just grab my phone whenever they want?”
His breathing grew heavy. First, it looked like I’d pissed him off so badly he almost laughed. Then he threw a whole combo of punches at the air. Finally, he pinned me against a pillar in one swift motion.
His sharp, upturned eyes were brimming with murderous intent.
“I stood up for you, and you ran off. Do you have any idea how embarrassing that was for me?!”
I dug a handful of candy out of my pocket. “How about… I treat you to some candy?”
He stared at the candy in my hand, clearly grinding his back teeth.
But he still grabbed a handful with lightning speed and said viciously, “Don’t let me see you getting bullied again!”
Then, just like the last time he bumped into me, he turned and ran off.
After two steps, he doubled back, returned my phone, and shoved a box of medicine into my hand.
I looked down at the ointment for scrapes in my palm, then thought of how close his face had been just now. As an older-sister type, I actually felt a little shy.
Beside me, Zou Wen asked haltingly, “How do you know… Zhou Yanfei?”
I looked at her. Her expression was strange, her face pale, yet she was still trying hard to maintain a smile.
Something wasn’t right.
Still, I said, “We got chewed out by the disciplinary director together today. He also helped me teach a few bastards a lesson.”
“Oh! So that’s how it is…” Zou Wen frowned and said, “Shuyi, don’t get involved with people like them in the future. We’re not worthy. They’ll only toy with us.”
I saw the knuckles of the hand gripping her backpack strap turn faintly white.
