Chapter 3
Chapter 3
At last, I arrived at Sun Shuyi’s home. The place was empty and quiet. There was a late-night snack already made on the table, with a note beside it that read: “Shuyi, Mom’s gone to work the night shift. Eat up and get some rest afterward.”
I took a bite of the noodles. They were so good!
Ever since I’d become a ghost, I hadn’t eaten anything delicious.
Just then, the phone screen lit up.
It was flooded with insults.
Somehow, I’d been dragged into a group chat, and everyone in it was cursing me out.
Things like “stupid pig” and “your brain is full of crap” were honestly among the nicer ones.
Most of it was filthy language too vile to look at.
My temper flared, and I wanted to jump in and fight them.
But then I suddenly felt there was no need to waste this happy life among the living, however long it might last.
So I turned off the phone and went back to the bedroom.
I knew far too little about Sun Shuyi’s life.
The bookshelf in her room was packed with novels: classics, romance novels, and even a diary.
Who still keeps a diary these days?
I opened it anyway.
Just as I’d expected, it was densely filled with entries about Xiao Ling.
A girl’s secret crush-humble, bitter, and heartbreaking.
“But he never looks at me. Maybe gods are meant to be out of reach.
“I’ve decided I’m going to give him a present too! Will he still remember me?
“He didn’t even look at it. He just handed it straight to someone else… But he smiled at Song Xiaoxue. For me, there was only disgust.
“Everyone hates me…”
Reading it nearly gave me a heart attack.
Back when I was a student, I didn’t seem to run into anything that upsetting.
I never had a crush on anyone, but I was pretty popular. The boys I rejected still ended up being good buddies.
The only thing that ever broke my heart was when the cafeteria lady’s hand shook and I ended up with two fewer pieces of braised pork.
I turned the phone back on. The messages had already hit 999+.
They were still insulting me. Sure enough, they never got tired of it.
“You’re not even worthy of carrying Song Xiaoxue’s shoes!”
“She’s going to get into Tsinghua University. What about you, huh? You toad!”
I opened her status feed and found that two days ago, the original owner had posted: “Will you all be satisfied if I die?”
The comments beneath it were flooded with replies like, “Yeah! Why do you only talk and never do it? Hurry up! I’m waiting to watch!”
What a bunch of scum.
I decided I wasn’t going to be nice to these people.
They didn’t deserve it.
