Chapter 5

I followed behind the teacher, but all I could think about was how that guy had looked just now, scared completely stupid.

I couldn’t help secretly laughing.

I didn’t hear a word of the teacher’s muttering, either. But when we got close to the director of discipline’s office, I heard a deep male voice chewing someone out.

I saw a tall, skinny figure standing there rather casually. The director of discipline stood in front of him, practically fuming as he shouted, “Zhou Yanfei! Your father pays for you to study here, not for you to waste your days! Look at you now, slacking off, not even wearing your uniform! Late arrivals, early departures, pulling all-nighters at internet cafés-what exactly are you trying to do?! Tell me, what are you trying to do?!”

When I walked in, the director of discipline only shot me a cutting glare before continuing to scold him.

That guy, on the other hand, lowered his eyes and saw me. Pleasantly surprised, he said, “Huh? It’s you? The one from last night with the lame leg?”

When he smiled, one little canine tooth showed. He looked so bright it was almost blinding, the sheer youthfulness of him bursting out all at once.

Seeing that he still looked completely indifferent, the director of discipline’s face turned red with anger. He even started scolding my teacher along with him. “What’s going on with this girl?! These two are like two flies crashing into each other!”

“She hit Fu Lei during morning self-study… I thought…”

At that moment, the boy beside me burst out laughing. He bent down and tapped my cast. “Not bad, Little Cripple. You’re pretty vicious. Thanks for sparing me last night.”

I glared at him, but the director of discipline anxiously asked, “Is Little Lei okay?”

“He’s fine… just scraped a bit of skin…”

He let out a breath of relief, then immediately turned a vicious glare on me and said, “Explain yourself. Why did you hit someone?!”

Zhou Yanfei leaned over with a grin and said, “You’re done for. That’s his son.”

The director of discipline’s expression instantly turned awkward.

“Call your parents and have them come in!”

“Then call my dad too. We can all have a chat together?”

The director of discipline started clearing his throat. It was obvious he couldn’t afford to offend Zhou Yanfei’s father.

In the end, the matter concluded with the two of us writing self-criticisms together.

“Teacher, can I not write it?” The boy beside me was still trying to wheedle his way out of it. The director of discipline roared, “Get out!”

When we left the office, I saw a graceful, slender girl standing by the door, as if she was waiting for someone.

Her skin was fair, her features beautiful, and her eyes were full of charm whenever she glanced around.

Zhou Yanfei saw her but ignored her.

The girl, however, hurried over anxiously and grabbed the hem of his shirt. “Are you mad?”

She bit her lip and acted coquettishly toward him.

With both hands in his pockets, he looked at her with mild interest. “Mad about what? Why would I be mad?”

“I only confessed to Xiao Ling to make you angry… You know that. I’ve always liked you.”

The girl blushed, tears welling in her eyes.

So I tactfully decided to leave. I had no interest in idol-drama scenes.

But then I heard an impatient voice ring out behind me.

“Song Xiaoxue, stop clinging to me. I’m not interested in you.”

The moment I heard that name, I froze.

So she was Song Xiaoxue?

Second in our grade. The owner of the group chat I’d been dragged into-it was her.
