Chapter 13
“Officers! I’m at the bottom of the well! Help me!”
Fang Lu lay slumped on the ground. Most of the temple’s lamas had already fled. Master Danjia, who had been possessed by the Nightmare Demon, had transformed into a thick mist and dissipated into nothingness.
Under the strike of the Heavenly Tribulation, all the souls trapped in the dreamscape by the Nightmare Beast had vanished along with it. For them, this was actually a form of liberation.
I shouted while treading water. Jiang Haoyan stood up and was the first to rush to the edge of the well.
Curious tourists wandered in from outside and were struck with amazement.
“Officer, what crime did this person commit to deserve being struck by lightning? Is that some kind of new tactical weapon?”
The police were speechless. They chased away the onlookers and called for backup from the station.
A rope was tossed down. I grabbed it, but as I was about to climb up, I noticed another tunnel sloping downward near the water’s surface.
I informed the police of the situation. They sent two officers down with me. As we crawled through the passage, we all fell into a heavy silence.
Inside was a vast open space that spanned a massive area, almost covering the entire foundation of the temple. The ground was piled thick with skeletal remains. At the very top lay a fresh corpse-it was Fang Qian.
This heinous case sent shockwaves through all of Tibet. Because the nature of the crime was so gruesome and the death toll so high, the specific numbers were never released to the public.
Fang Lu was also brought in. When she arrived at the police station, she looked completely dazed.
“It feels like I’ve been in a very, very deep sleep. I don’t know anything.”
After asking a few questions, I realized that this was the real Fang Lu.
Her soul must have been suppressed within her body by that Witch. Theoretically, a single body can only hold one soul; it was no wonder the entity knew all of Fang Lu’s memories. I couldn’t even imagine what kind of secret art had been used to achieve it.
The Witch from the ancient tomb had been utterly annihilated in the lightning of the tribulation.
To protect Fang Lu, I could only claim that I had accidentally fallen into the well myself.
The lamas at the temple confessed to the murders. Fang Lu was eventually released, and she stayed behind in Tibet to handle her sister’s funeral arrangements.
Jiang Haoyan and I didn’t dare linger in Tibet any longer. We booked our flights and prepared to leave.
On our final night, the tall police officer came to our guesthouse to find me.
His name was Dorje. He had graduated from the police academy only two years ago and was still at an age where his curiosity was peaked, unlike the more rigid veteran officers.
I told him the truth, and he remained silent for a long time.
“This particular sect has been passed down within the Buddhist Clan for many years and holds great influence,” he said. “It’s for the best that you leave early.”

The Earth Master Girl: Tibetan Human Skin Drum
My friend went on a trip to Tibet and unexpectedly vanished.
It wasn’t until much later that I discovered a tattoo on a drum that was identical to the one on her back.
I struck...
