She turned and ran back into the temple as a tall, handsome man in a police uniform walked toward me.

“Are you the one who called the police?”

I nodded.

“There are many corpses in that temple well. Those lamas are all suspects.”

I led the police into the temple. Fang Lu’s face was twisted with rage.

“This is a conflict between Xuanmen sects, Qiao Moyu. You’re not playing by the rules.”

“My power has already surpassed the laws of this mundane world. Bringing them here won’t do you any good.”

The police officers nearby chuckled under their breaths when they heard her.

“What is this, a movie set?”

One of the tall officers held up a body cam and began filming the mouth of the well.

“Is this the disposal site you mentioned?”

Fang Lu nodded, a sinister smile playing on her lips.

“That’s right, it’s right here. Do you want to go down and take a look?”

Her pitch-black eyes seemed to turn into a vortex. All the police officers stared at her blankly for a moment before collapsing one by one.

After a short while, the officers stood up again. They shook their heads and looked at me with deep displeasure.

“Do this again and we’ll take you into custody. Filing a false police report is a crime.”

The police turned to leave. I was about to chase after them when my knees buckled and I collapsed to the ground.

Just before my eyes closed, it hit me.

Shoot, I forgot there was a Nightmare Demon here.

When I opened my eyes again, Jiang Haoyan and I were back in that guesthouse.

He stood in the hallway with a dazed expression.

“Qiao Moyu, I think I just had a very, very long dream.”

I sighed.

“The previous one wasn’t a dream. This one is.”

Jiang Haoyan turned to look at the corridor that seemed to stretch on forever, his eyes widening in terror.

I comforted him calmly.

“It’s fine. I just need to strike my own brain with a bolt of lightning to get us out temporarily.”

“Once I’m out, I’m going to kill that bitch.”

With that, I chanted an incantation and barked, “Five Thunders Command!”

When I opened my eyes again, I found a lama carrying me, just as he was tossing me into the well.

Lightning flashed at the mouth of the well. With a splash, bone-chilling water flooded my nostrils. I took a sharp breath and began coughing violently.

Fang Lu peeked her head over the edge of the well, looking surprised. “This Nightmare Beast is getting more and more useless.”

I thrashed in the water, a surge of fury rushing to my head. If I hadn’t been decisive enough-if I had woken up even a minute later-I would have been drowned by this Sorceress.

In my extreme rage, I didn’t care about the cost anymore. Gritting my teeth, I bit down hard on the tip of my tongue and smeared the essence blood onto my command token.

“Fang Lu, do you know what the Great Majestic Heavenly Dragon is?”

Fang Lu sneered.

“Heh, look at the state you’re in. Do you really have any new tricks left? Bring it on. You’re just a lowly Earth Master; let’s see what else you’ve got.”

I closed my eyes and began to chant.

“By the mandate of the Heavenly Emperor, I summon the God of Thunder. Reaching up to the Infinite, reaching down to the Netherworld.”

“Come to the altar and heed my command, slay and sever the evil spirits. Wherever this decree reaches, execute it with the urgency of fire!”

As I chanted, tears welled in my eyes.

Part of it was the pain, but the other part was heartache.

My Heavenly Tribulation Command… I’d used it twice in just a few months. Damn you, Chiyou.

At the temple entrance, the tall police officer who had just left turned back around.

“Where’s that lady who called the police? You forgot to sign the statement.”

“What the-holy crap!”

Dense bolts of lightning cascaded from the sky, enveloping half the temple.
