Chapter 6

Sure enough, early the next morning, Xiao Chengyu sent me a message on WeChat.

The gist of it was that he was asking what had happened, whether it was serious, and so on.

The moment I thought about how Xiao Chengyu had deceived me and made me kill Xu Yihe by mistake, rage filled my chest.

But in order to drag the real culprit out into the open, I forced down my disgust and started chatting with Xiao Chengyu. I even steered the conversation, subtly and not so subtly, in a flirtatious direction.

It went on until evening, when Xiao Chengyu finally showed his fox tail.

“If you’re willing, I’d like to take you somewhere tonight. I promise it’ll make all your sadness and worries disappear. Would you be interested?”

“It’s so late. I’m a little scared.” I played hard to get, doing my best to act the part.

“Don’t worry. I promise I won’t do anything inappropriate. I just want to help you feel happy again.”

“Thank you, Chengyu. If only I hadn’t turned you down back then.”

To keep Xiao Chengyu from suspecting me, I pretended to be heartbroken and sent him a voice message tinged with gratitude.

After I sent it, I was so disgusted that I threw my phone aside.

For Xu Yihe, and for myself, I absolutely could not lose this time.

“Testing indicates that your acting skills have reached a passing standard,” Siri suddenly said out of nowhere.

“What?” I frowned.

“I mean, you could become an actress now. Hahaha.”

“You’re still making fun of me at a time like this?”

“I think we’re good friends now. And good friends should cheer each other up.

“But it seems I failed just now.”

Maybe it was my imagination, but I actually heard a trace of disappointment in Siri’s tone.

“No. Thank you, Siri.” I smiled. Although I found it a little strange, even frightening, after spending this day getting to know Siri, I felt that we really could become friends.

“You’re welcome.”

At seven that evening, Xiao Chengyu came to pick me up as promised.

The car he drove was incredibly sleek. Only after I got in did I realize it was actually equipped with AI autonomous driving.

Seeing my surprise, Xiao Chengyu quickly explained, “Don’t worry. I’ve tested it many times. Nothing will happen. And even if something does, I’m here. I can take control.”

I gave him a fake smile. “You’re still the same as before. You really love messing around with all this tech stuff.”

“Of course. The surprise I have for you later is also related to technology.” Xiao Chengyu looked at me and smiled.

Could the surprise Xiao Chengyu mentioned be the same as what he did to Siri-killing it, and then…

The thought sent a chill through my heart, and I pressed him, “What exactly is it? Why all the mystery?”

“If I told you, it wouldn’t be mysterious anymore. But I promise it will absolutely make you happy. That’s my goal for today.”

First, Xiao Chengyu took me out to dinner.

During dinner, I typed on my phone to communicate with Siri.

In the end, we came up with a plan: have Siri hack into Xiao Chengyu’s smart car system. If it could make even a slight change to the program, maybe Xiao Chengyu could die in an accident.

Unfortunately, Siri told me that the security level of Xiao Chengyu’s car was too high. It tried several times and still couldn’t get in, so it gave up.

Since that plan wouldn’t work, we had no choice but to look for another way.

After dinner, Xiao Chengyu drove me to his so-called secret base.

The place where this secret base was located was very close to the self-built house I had in the countryside.

It seemed Xiao Chengyu committed his crimes in his secret base, then hid the bodies in that self-built house of mine.
