Chapter 3
Chapter 3
The next morning, before Song Cheng was even up, I got out of bed to wash up.
Last night had been our wedding night, but Song Cheng, fired up with righteous fury, had spent the entire night investigating which unruly peasant was trying to ruin his wedding. When I got up at three in the morning to use the bathroom, he was still crouched on the sofa, typing away with intense focus.
A husband like this was truly terrifying.
After I finished brushing my teeth, Song Cheng still wasn’t awake. I picked up my phone and saw that sometime in the middle of the night, I’d received a new friend request on WeChat.
The profile picture was the back of a girl. Thanks to a woman’s sixth sense, I felt like this was the woman who’d tried to steal the groom yesterday.
She wrote, “Don’t you want to know what your husband has said to me?”
After I accepted the request, she immediately sent me a message, as if she had been waiting in front of her phone just for me.
“I’m Ren Weiwei, Song Cheng’s ex-girlfriend.”
I sent back a question mark.
“Want to see the chat history between me and your husband?”
Hearing that, I was a little confused. Song Cheng had actually chatted with her?
“So what if you threatened him into marrying you? Your husband still spent the whole night coaxing me. It must not feel good to spend your wedding night alone, right?”
I stared at my phone and fell into deep thought.
My newlywed husband was still asleep, and I had to square off against his ex-girlfriend?
The more I thought about it, the angrier I got.
“Song Cheng!”
I shouted and yanked his blanket off. Song Cheng opened his eyes in a daze, his whole face screaming confusion.
“What’s wrong, honey?”
I let out a cold laugh, crossed my arms, and stood at his bedside, looking down at him from above. “Your ex-girlfriend says you spent all night coaxing her yesterday.”
Song Cheng briefly pondered which ex-girlfriend I was talking about, his expression going blank for a split second.
Then he shot upright. “Is she insane?”
Yes. I also felt that Ren Weiwei was insane.
Based on what I knew about Song Cheng, never mind secretly coaxing an ex-girlfriend behind my back-even if he secretly went drinking with his buddies, he’d need three days of mental preparation before he dared tell me.
My mother-in-law had truly raised her son well. The wolf-tooth club did not deceive me. I’d go place an order for one later.
He scratched at his hair, which looked like a bird’s nest, then said to me with a dark expression, “Give me your phone.”
I raised an eyebrow and handed it to him. “What? Confronting her in person?”
Song Cheng didn’t speak. He opened Ren Weiwei’s chat, and she was still persistently sending me screenshots of conversations.
As she sent them, she mocked me. “Even if you two got your marriage certificate, I still have what it takes to win him back.”
The more Song Cheng looked, the darker his face became. He dialed her number directly.
“Su Xiaoyu, you can’t take it anymore?”
“Take my ass.”
After delivering that classic curse, Song Cheng continued, “Do you have some kind of mental problem?
“If you’re sick, go to the hospital. Don’t come here disgusting me. Do I have anything to do with you at all? If you harass my wife again, I’m calling the police.”
“Song Cheng! Have you forgotten how you coaxed me yesterday?”
Song Cheng was so angry his breathing grew heavy. “I coaxed you? Are you still dreaming? What part of you can compare to my wife? I’d leave gold sitting there and go coax a pile of dog shit like you?”
My husband had quite the way with words.
“Stop harassing us. Otherwise, I’ll personally call your dad and ask him how he raised his daughter.”
Ren Weiwei hung up crying, while Song Cheng’s face remained cold, his anger not yet gone.
The mistress had shown up at our door and ended up infuriating the man of the house.
I smiled and shook my head, then carefully looked over the screenshots Ren Weiwei had sent.
The screenshots really did show Ren Weiwei and a man chatting all lovey-dovey, and when I looked closely at the man’s profile picture, it was Song Cheng’s photo.
Oh-ho?
I tapped into her Moments, wanting to see if there were any other details, only to find that she had deleted me.
“Honey, look at this photo. Isn’t that you?”
Song Cheng frowned deeply, his face full of confusion.
“I swear, I really haven’t talked to her.”
After saying that, Song Cheng carefully glanced at me. “Honey, it’s our first day as newlyweds. We can’t get mad.”
I sat by the bed and looked at him with a half-smile.
The more I looked, the more panicked Song Cheng became, and he unconsciously straightened his back.
“How about we go shopping later? You can buy a few more bags?”
“Hm?”
I leaned into his arms, laughing so hard I was trembling. Song Cheng panicked even more. “I swear you’re the only one I’ve ever had in this life. We finally got married, so let’s not get angry over someone who has nothing to do with us, okay?”
“Susu, are you crying?”
I finally couldn’t hold it in anymore and burst out laughing. There was still some lingering panic on Song Cheng’s face, and he froze for a moment before realizing I had been messing with him.
He sighed helplessly and ruffled my hair. “All you know how to do is scare me.”
