Chapter 8
“I don’t like your… outfit, either.”
That sentence hit Yuan Lina, who had dressed herself up so carefully, right where it hurt. Looking even more wronged than when the PE teacher had falsely accused her, she snapped, “What the hell do you know about fashion?!”
Zhao Linfeng said, “If you weren’t pretty enough to neutralize how tacky that outfit is, my eyes would’ve been smoked blind by now.”
Yuan Lina arched a brow, the corner of her mouth half-curved, as if she couldn’t decide whether to be happy or angry. Zhao Linfeng seemed to be insulting her, which was infuriating. But it also felt like Zhao Linfeng had complimented her, which made her inexplicably a little pleased.
I was reminded of that widely circulated movie line: “Linfeng, your insults are getting so sophisticated these days. Without a viciously high IQ, people really wouldn’t understand them.”
Yuan Lina obviously didn’t quite understand. She froze like her system had crashed.
Just as the three of us marched toward the student affairs office with our heads held high, Feng Wendong walked out from the side entrance of the classroom building.
He was wearing a white, workwear-style tracksuit and a royal-blue baseball cap. When he lowered his head to look at the PE teacher, the half of his face beneath the brim looked especially small.
Such a small face, yet with such sharp, defined features. He had both a girl’s delicate beauty and a boy’s handsome sharpness. No wonder all the girls at school called him an anime pretty boy.
Expressionless, he looked at the PE teacher. “Someone told me you cursed out Nana.”
“Feng Wendong, you… I was just educating a student normally.”
Feng Wendong tilted his head slightly. Like a wildcat toying with a little bird, he placed his hand on the PE teacher’s shoulder. “Sure. Then may I take my girlfriend away now?”
The PE teacher’s earlier arrogance vanished without a trace. He avoided Feng Wendong’s gaze. “As long as she knows she was wrong, she can leave.”
Yuan Lina immediately said, “He framed me! I didn’t do anything wrong!”
Feng Wendong gripped the teacher’s shoulder, not allowing him to dodge. “You heard her. Apologize to my girlfriend.”
“F-Feng Wendong… You dare hit a teacher…”
Without the slightest hesitation, Feng Wendong let go. The teacher, who had been struggling nonstop, lost his balance from the momentum and fell to the ground in a sorry heap.
Feng Wendong looked down at him coldly. “I said, apologize.”
The teacher finally realized Feng Wendong absolutely would not go easy on him just because he was a teacher. He hurriedly said, “I’m sorry! Yuan Lina, I’m sorry! I falsely accused you!”
Yuan Lina walked to Feng Wendong’s side, lifted her head, and kissed his chin. Her eyes were filled with love.
But at the very moment Yuan Lina’s heart and eyes were full of Feng Wendong, from an angle she couldn’t see, Feng Wendong was looking at Zhao Linfeng with a peculiar gaze.
I couldn’t describe that look, but it definitely wasn’t anything good.
Yuan Lina looped her arm through Feng Wendong’s and followed his gaze toward us. Still immersed in the happiness of having been rescued, she smiled and said, “And Woruo and Zhao Linfeng. You need to apologize to them too.”
Zhao Linfeng said, “No need.”
Yuan Lina looked at us in confusion.
I advised her, “Lina, we should go to the student affairs office and let everyone judge fairly who’s right and who’s wrong. If we use violence to force him to apologize, how is that any different from him using a teacher’s authority to slander you?”
For a moment, Yuan Lina said nothing.
Zhao Linfeng added, “We’re willing to testify for you. He’ll receive the punishment he deserves.”
But Feng Wendong let out a cold laugh. “A fair judgment? Who wants to play house with you? All I need to do is call my uncle, and he’ll be packing up his things and getting out.”
The PE teacher shouted in agitation, “I’m sorry, Young Master Dong! I was wrong, I won’t dare do it again! I didn’t know Yuan Lina was with you. I’m sorry, I’m sorry. Please forgive me this once!”
Feng Wendong wrapped an arm around Yuan Lina’s shoulders, holding her entire body within the control of his arm, and said by her ear, “Come practice driving with me.”
Yuan Lina nodded obediently. “Woruo, Zhao Linfeng, goodbye.”
After the two of them left, I said to Zhao Linfeng, “I really hate Feng Wendong.”
“He’s the school tyrant. What kind of good person could he be?… All right, let’s go back to class.”
“Mm.”
Suddenly, something grabbed my ankle. “S-student, could you take me to the infirmary?”
I’d almost forgotten about the PE teacher on the ground.
