Chapter 6
Chapter 6
I hesitated, unsure whose side I should go with.
Mainly because I had never been this popular before.
Yuan Lina bit her lip, then clicked her tongue. She went back to her seat, threw all the chocolates I’d given her into the trash, and slammed the door on her way out.
The iron door crashed against the frame with a deafening bang, and I squeezed my eyes shut in discomfort.
Zhao Linfeng walked around the chairs to my side and said, “Let’s go.”
“Do you not like Yuan Lina, so you don’t want me going to PE with her?”
“Of course I don’t, Woruo. Anyone who actually wants to study hard wouldn’t like her. The farther you stay from her, the better.”
“Oh.”
When we gathered on the sports field, I saw Pan Li animatedly chatting with three girls about something. The moment she saw me and Zhao Linfeng arrive, they all immediately shut up. One of the girls pointed at me and said something to the person beside her; judging by the shape of her mouth, she seemed to mention the name “Yuan Lina.”
Pan Li really was… passionate about talking behind people’s backs.
One of the girls smiled and greeted Zhao Linfeng. “Zhao Linfeng, we’re going to play badminton. Want to join us?”
“No thanks. My foot only just healed, so I can’t do anything too intense. Woruo, do you want to play?”
I glanced at the disgusted look on the face of the girl who had invited Zhao Linfeng just now. “I’m not in great health either. The only exercise I can do is sleeping.”
After the PE teacher arrived, he blew his whistle, waved his hand, and said, “Gather five minutes before class ends. Free activity. Dismissed!”
Everyone scattered in all directions like startled birds fleeing into the woods.
Zhao Linfeng and I were walking when the class beside us, also having PE, was dismissed too. Plenty of people in the crowd knew Zhao Linfeng and greeted her one after another.
“Zhao Linfeng, you’re back in class?”
Zhao Linfeng smiled and nodded.
Someone else called out, “Monthly exams are coming up soon. You won’t have to endure it much longer before you escape your sea of suffering. When the time comes, sit next to me, Zhao Linfeng!”
Just then, a boy from our class roared, “What’s that supposed to mean? Being in our regular class is a sea of suffering? Do you people in the Rocket Class really think you’re Brahmins or something?”
“That’s not what I meant…”
“Then what did you mean? You’re just looking down on us, aren’t you?”
A girl on the other side said, “Please don’t misunderstand. What he meant was that the teaching resources in regular classes are a bit worse…”
“Fuck, calling us trash wasn’t enough, now you’re saying our teachers are trash too?!”
At that moment, some absolute legend in the crowd suddenly threw out, “Regular classes are trash, though!”
The boys and girls on both sides started shoving each other, while students in the back hurled insults across the distance. More and more people gathered, forming a ring with Zhao Linfeng at the center.
Just as it looked like an actual fight was about to break out, the PE teachers from both classes rushed in to stop it. “What are you doing? Everyone get back and line up!”
Everyone was called back to their own class’s area. Our PE teacher’s face was as dark as the bottom of a burned pot as he scolded us. “I told you to do free activity, and you decided to fight?”
He pointed at the track behind us. “Go. Everyone runs twenty laps. No one gets dismissed until every single person finishes. Start now!”
A girl called out, “Sir!”
“Speak!”
“We were playing badminton over there just now and didn’t take part in the fight. Can we not run?”
“Anyone who didn’t participate, step out of line. Don’t think you can fool me. If I find out anyone who was fighting is trying to sneak out, I’ll double their punishment!”
Zhao Linfeng and I stepped out with the others. The PE teacher glared viciously at the line, then suddenly looked at Yuan Lina, who had also stepped out.
“Yuan Lina! Where do you think you’re going?!”
Yuan Lina looked at the PE teacher in confusion. “I didn’t fight.”
“Bullshit! Get back here and run forty laps!”
“I really didn’t fight.”
“Stop pretending.”
Yuan Lina’s eyes instantly turned red.
“Oh, now you feel wronged? Look at what you’re wearing! Do you look like a student? Your skirt is so short your ass is practically hanging out. If I were you, I’d be ashamed! Don’t make me say it a third time. Forty laps!”
I couldn’t stand it anymore and stepped forward on my own. “Sir, Yuan Lina really didn’t take part in the argument just now.”
“And what the hell are you supposed to be?”
“Sir, scientifically speaking, whatever you are is what I am too.”
