Chapter 2

Hugging my backpack and water bottle, I sat down at the desk beside Yuan Lina.

She sat in the very last row of the classroom, in the exclusive “Sleep King” seat beside the trash can. A desk all to herself. It was enough to show just how “special” her status was in the teachers’ hearts.

When I went over, Yuan Lina was asleep with her head on the desk. After I woke her up, she lifted her head, and I saw that the metal bracelet on her wrist had pressed a red mark into her face.

Her nude lip gloss had rubbed off on her arm, revealing the natural color of her lips beneath-a bright grapefruit red, a color that belonged only to a young girl.

Yuan Lina rubbed her eyes and calmly said, “Get lost.”

I pulled a handful of chocolates from my backpack. Ever since I came to this world, I’d told the driver to put some chocolate in my backpack every day. He often forgot, but after I threw a tantrum yesterday, he finally remembered.

Unfortunately, what he got me were orange-wrapped, tangerine-flavored liquor chocolates. I couldn’t touch alcohol, so I hadn’t eaten a single one.

I unwrapped one and held it in front of Yuan Lina. “It’s filled with liquor. Want to try?”

Yuan Lina hesitated for a moment, then reached out, took the chocolate, and tossed it into her mouth.

“Is it good?”

She kept her mouth closed, as though she was still savoring the taste.

“Let me tell you a secret.”

“Hm?”

I lowered my head and brought my face closer to Yuan Lina’s. She looked a little confused and leaned away, but not too far. In the end, she listened to me in a rather intimate posture.

When she saw that I wasn’t speaking, Yuan Lina kept teasing me. “Don’t tell me you also have some illegitimate half-sister who wants to compete with you over everything, and then she’ll try to steal the man you like too?”

Seeing that she was laughing so hard tears had come out, smearing her eye makeup into a mess, I calmly took out a tissue and wiped the ruined makeup from her face.

Yuan Lina grabbed my hand. “What are you doing?!”

“Your eye makeup is smudged.”

“You-”

Seeing from Yuan Lina’s mouth shape that she was about to curse again, I said, “Could you not say things like ‘damn it’? It makes me a little sad, because I don’t have a mom.”

Yuan Lina’s lips parted slightly, and for a moment she didn’t know what to say.

“Though I mean my mom in this world. I’ve never even met her.”

I could tell that Yuan Lina had switched through several different expressions in order not to swear.

“Forget it, forget it. Get lost. I’ll let you and Pan Li off this time.”

“Really?! You’re such a kind person!”

Yuan Lina no longer wanted to talk to me. She snatched the tissue from my hand and wiped her eyes carelessly.

Just then, a commotion came from the back door. A boy pushed through the crowd and walked in.

He looked at least a head taller than me, with a streak of silver dyed into his hair. He had narrow, foxlike eyes with slightly upturned corners, wore a jacket from the trendiest sports brand, and the shoes on his feet were a rare colorway of a certain sneaker. Tall and thin, fair and handsome, he was like the male lead of a comic stepping into the real world.

Yuan Lina jumped up and ran toward him, throwing herself into his arms in front of everyone.

The inside and outside of the classroom instantly exploded at the sight. People pointed, whispered, and shouted for them to “kiss.” All the chaotic, shrill noises made me feel a little unwell.

Yuan Lina turned back to get her bag. Seeing me clutching my chest with a frown again, she asked, “You don’t feel good?”

“It’s too loud.”

Yuan Lina lifted her head and roared at the crowd, “Shut up, all of you! Whoever keeps yelling, I’ll f- I’ll deal with you!”

The classroom went silent in an instant. It worked even better than the homeroom teacher showing up.

Yuan Lina casually took the remaining liquor chocolates from my desk. “Goodbye, transmigrated heroine.”

Then she linked arms with Feng Wendong, and the two of them left the classroom under everyone’s burning stares, just like the male and female leads of a romance novel.

What was going on? Even though it had quieted down, my heart still felt uncomfortable.
