Chapter 3
Chapter 3
On my first day at work, I chose to step into the office with my left foot first.
A cold sneer sounded.
Late that night after I got home, my extremely temperamental ex-boyfriend finally unblocked me and sent me a single period.
I opened his Moments first and took screenshots like crazy.
After scraping together every bit of information I could, I finally magnanimously cleared up his confusion.
“Childish.”
Honestly, I thought I was pretty childish too. I just couldn’t resist pissing off Wei Siyu.
When there was no response for a long while, I sent him a smiley face to test the waters.
Sure enough, I was blocked again.
What a temper.
To soothe my ex-boyfriend-slash-boss, I brought him a cup of warm sweet milk.
The moment he took a sip, his face darkened.
“You can’t even make coffee?”
I smiled good-naturedly. “Then shall I pour it out and make you another cup?”
He lowered his head and took another big sip.
“This had better not happen again.”
After that, Wei Siyu threw himself into work and seemed unable to stop.
I felt a little disappointed. He said he was going to torment me. This was it?
After working for several hours straight, I went to the pantry to catch my breath.
A friend from the company came in to find me too.
“Yuanxing, did the CEO chew you out?”
So on the surface, everyone was working hard, but in reality, they were all secretly watching the boss.
They had seen every second of Wei Siyu’s dark expression.
My friend looked a little guilty.
“It’s my fault. That day, I saw how handsome the new CEO was, so I shared his photo with you.
“I didn’t expect you to move so fast and just jump ship! Even someone like you, who never cares about romance, fell for our CEO. Tsk, tsk.”
I caught the key word. “Fell for him too?”
Wei Siyu was gorgeous and rich. It was only normal that a lot of people liked him.
But for her to use the words “fell for him,” the level was probably something else.
My friend loved gossip. Back in college, she was the one who told me all the rumors.
This time was no different.
She lowered her voice. “The day after the CEO took office, a Miss Lin came by. I heard that all the years the CEO studied abroad, she was the one who stayed by his side.”
I raised an eyebrow. “Who did you hear that from? Is it reliable?”
“Who else? Miss Lin herself.”
My friend wore an indescribable expression. “She picked out a few good-looking employees and just started telling them stories about her and the CEO overseas.
“Like, hello? Who asked you? It was like a dog pissing everywhere to mark its territory.
“By the end of that day, those stories had spread through the whole company.”
By the time I heard that, my hand had already clenched tightly into a fist.
The day I saw Wei Siyu’s photo, I only thought that fate between us wasn’t over yet.
This time, I didn’t want to regret anything again, so I came.
Before coming here, I had imagined many possible outcomes.
For example, Wei Siyu might discover I had joined the company, hate me so much that he would fire me on the spot.
But among all the possibilities I had imagined, not one of them included someone else being by Wei Siyu’s side.
I returned to my desk, my chest tight and heavy, so stifling I could barely breathe.
