Chapter 4

Yin Boyu’s gaze instinctively dropped to my neck.

Then he looked away.

Before I could say anything else, someone got out of the car.

“What are you two talking about?”

Little princess Meng Weiyue walked over.

“Sis, don’t blame Brother Boyu. I was the one who asked him to drive me around to look for you.”

She probably hadn’t heard my conversation with Yin Boyu.

“Why were you looking for me?”

“I wanted to apologize to you in person. Sis, I really didn’t mean it. I was just so happy about the holiday that I forgot about your allergy for a moment…”

I would have gone home eventually. She could have apologized to my face then.

Meng Weiyue lied without even bothering to make it sound convincing.

The truth was, she just wanted to spend time alone with Yin Boyu.

I said, “I didn’t even know where I was. How did you find me?”

“That’s right,” Meng Weiyue said, suddenly realizing it too. “Brother Boyu, you found Sis right away. You’re amazing.”

“There’s a lake here.”

Yin Boyu left those four words behind and got back into the car.

“What does that mean?” Meng Weiyue blinked in confusion.

I didn’t tell her.

Because in the past, whenever I was upset, I liked to look at water.

Rivers, lakes, oceans-they all made me feel at peace.

In City A, this artificial lake was the closest one to my home. Yin Boyu hadn’t even needed to think before flooring the gas and coming straight here.

He drove the two of us home.

My parents thanked him. “Yusang is so immature. Sorry to trouble you.”

See? Somehow, the blame was on me again.

Without looking back, I went inside and shut the door.

Shutting Yin Boyu’s gaze outside with it.

A week later, there was a cocktail party.

Every well-known entrepreneur in City A brought their families to attend.

Social circles were cruel places.

My parents went off to socialize with the bosses.

Meng Weiyue was also called away by people her own age, chatting happily with them.

Only I stood off to the side, alone and isolated.

Someone said, “Ask your sister to come join us.”

Meng Weiyue refused on my behalf without asking me. “No, she has social anxiety. She can’t handle it when there are too many people.”

“Oh. Then forget it.”

Liang Huaiyuan entered the venue and wanted to talk to me.

I made an excuse about not feeling well and hid off to the side.

My parents saw the whole thing.

They lowered their voices and scolded me. “Why didn’t you talk to Xiao Liang? Where are your manners?”

“I politely turned him down.”

“Do you have any idea how much effort it took to set you and Liang Huaiyuan up?”

“I’m only twenty-four. I don’t want to get married.”

“That’s Liang Huaiyuan! His uncle is Yin Boyu! If you marry into the Liang Family, you’ll basically become a relative of Yin Boyu too. Then when it comes to family business, you’ll be able to put in a word with Yin Boyu…”

So that was what this was about.

I asked, “Isn’t my sister on pretty good terms with President Yin?”

“That doesn’t count.”

Dad’s face darkened.

“Yin Boyu treats your sister like a child. When it comes to major matters and interests, he draws a clear line. He won’t give the Meng Family any convenience just because he’s friendly with your sister. Becoming relatives is still the safest bet.”

“Then let her marry Yin Boyu.”

“You think I haven’t thought of that? Yin Boyu rejected it very decisively.”

I nearly laughed out loud.

Dad continued, “For now, we can’t climb up to the Yin Family. But the Liang Family is possible…”

“Then let Meng Weiyue marry Liang Huaiyuan. That should be fine, right?”

“No. Liang Huaiyuan doesn’t hold any real power. He’s not worthy of Weiyue.”

By accident, he had spoken his true thoughts.

Mom hurriedly tried to explain. “What your father means is that Weiyue is too stubborn. No one can force her to do anything.”

“But you can force me?”

The two of them froze.

Just then, Yin Boyu’s family arrived.

Everyone’s attention shifted to them.

The Yin Family was considered an industry leader. Most of the people at the venue still had to rely on them.

At the same time, plenty of people began whispering among themselves.

“Have you heard? Turns out Yin Boyu isn’t actually the abstinent type!”

“I know, I know. He admitted it himself!”

“That’s so exciting. Who is it?”

“Even the paparazzi can’t get a shot of her. Their secrecy is incredible.”

The gossipers went through practically every young woman in the circle.

It was at that moment that another figure appeared.

Yin Wan, Yin Boyu’s younger female cousin.

She was also the only member of the Yin Family who knew that Yin Boyu had gotten married.

Last year, she had gone abroad for further studies. I hadn’t expected her to come back for summer break this time.

But wait.

Did she know Yin Boyu and I were already divorced?

Yin Wan swept her gaze around the venue. When she saw me, she suddenly waved and called out loudly,

“Sister-in-law!”

The entire venue instantly fell silent.

“My youngest uncle is Yin Boyu. You’ve heard of him, right?”

My blind date asked the question with a hint of contempt.

“I have.”

“He’s...
